The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 507

Gideon sat behind the desk, toying with a sleek lighter in his hand, its ghostly blue flame flickering in the dim room.

The jealousy and violence he had forcibly repressed at the flower shop had, under the cover of night, morphed into a man-eating beast. He looked entirely different from the gentle, compliant man he had been during the day.

His assistant, Liam York, stood respectfully before the desk, his head bowed as he gave his report.

"Mr. Hayes, it's done."

"That man, Vincent Shaw... I guarantee he will never walk completely fine for the rest of his life, but we didn't cross the line into killing him."

Gideon's thumb kept flipping the lighter, his rhythm unbroken.

"Go on."

"We used a third-party shell company to force the acquisition of his secondhand bookstore."

Liam paused, his tone remaining deferential. "He packed his things overnight and has already left town. He will never appear in front of Mrs. Hayes again in this lifetime."

Gideon slowly snapped the lighter shut.

"Make sure he remembers."

Gideon looked up, his bloodshot eyes swirling with a chilling, fanatic cruelty.

How dared he look at his wife with that kind of covetous gaze?

If he hadn't been so terrified that Nora would find out and be even more repulsed by him, terrified that he would drive her away again, he would have done far more than just run the man out of town.

"If I ever see him anywhere near her again..."

"The consequences won't be this simple."

Gideon turned, walked out of the study, and quietly made his way up to the second floor.

Inside the master bedroom.

Nora seemed to be fast asleep on the bed, her breathing steady and deep.

Gideon walked slowly to the bedside and dropped to one knee on the cold tiles.

By the faint moonlight, he stared intensely at her sleeping profile, the deep sorrow and overwhelming love re-gathering in his eyes.
