Nora remembered clearly what Gideon used to be like.
He wore immaculate black suits, and his eyes always carried a bone-deep cruelty and aloofness.
At those glamorous banquets, no matter how exquisitely the heiresses dressed or what tactics they used to win his favor, he wouldn't spare them a single glance.
Aside from Giselle, whom he endlessly spoiled and favored, no other woman was allowed within three feet of him.
Gideon was willing to burn the world down for a single word from Giselle. But her? Nora had wasted ten years of her youth, reduced herself to dust, and had her dignity shattered, only to end up as a tragic joke whose family was utterly destroyed.
Her parents were pushed to suicide, her brother hated her to his core, her career was permanently blacklisted, and her hands were brutally crippled.
And now, here in this remote, impoverished town—a place so off the grid that even decent flowers had to be specially flown in—he had completely dropped his untouchable facade.
He was acting so patient and gentle with a naive little girl, chatting with her so happily.
He showed up on time every day, asking about her habits, inquiring about her preferences, carefully trying to guess what she wanted, putting on a show of deep devotion.
But underneath it all, he was still the same controlling mastermind, used to standing above everyone else, buying and trading everything with money and charity.
He used this near-indulgent posture to pry into her past suffering, playing the role of the devoted lover who had arrived too late.
Anya was innocent. She had no idea how ruthless and cruel the man beneath that gentle, refined exterior truly was.
Anya didn't know how the bookstore owner from the next street over—who had only shown a bit of friendly interest in Nora—had his bones broken in the dead of night and was forced to vanish from the town forever.
Anya didn't know that to get what he wanted, this man would casually destroy someone else's entire life.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
