The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 523

The afternoon sunlight slanted perfectly through the front window, spilling over the wooden table in the center of the shop.

The atmosphere between the two was surprisingly harmonious.

Young Anya, with her neat ponytail and healthy, glowing complexion, had eyes that curved into crescents when she smiled.

As she talked, she gestured animatedly, radiating a naive, vibrant energy, like a sunflower reaching fiercely toward the sky.

Sitting across from her was Gideon. Tall and impeccably postured, he wore a cheap dark apron, yet it somehow only accentuated a quiet, out-of-place elegance.

He had his head tilted slightly, listening with a focused and gentle expression.

"Mr. Hayes, the color of this batch of Icebreaker Roses is absolutely stunning."

Anya carefully lifted a dew-kissed bouquet from layers of protective wrapping paper, her eyes sparkling with unconcealed awe.

"We used to mostly sell cheap, ordinary red roses and carnations. The flowers from the local wholesalers were always slightly wilted. We rarely get to stock such premium blooms."

Gideon followed her gaze to the flowers.

"They're a cold-chain variety flown in directly from Colombia. Nora likes this hue, so a fresh batch will be delivered weekly from now on."

Hearing this, a look of envy and longing crossed Anya's face. She smiled.

"You're so thoughtful, Mr. Hayes. No wonder Nora always wears neutral-colored dresses. It's so they look good paired with these flowers."

Sitting in her wooden chair, Nora heard Anya's words.

Neutral-colored dresses.

She looked down at the shapeless, light gray linen dress she was wearing.
