The Mafia King's Unknown Doctor Wife novel Chapter 372

"Flight 123 to Los Angeles, California is now boarding all passengers," the agent at the gate announced over the loud speakers. "Again, Flight 123 to Los Angeles, California is now boarding all passengers at gate G12."

Elena hurriedly grabbed her suitcase and headed to the gate. Her plane was boarding! She couldn't miss this flight.

Massimo heard the agent repeat their message. He ran to gate G12.

He was glad he knew this airport so well. Security had placed him on the opposite side, all the way by gate G40. But Massimo knew plenty of shortcuts to take advantage of.

Massimo knew he looked rushed—panicked even. If any bystander saw him, they wouldn't think he was the Mafia King trying to get his lover back or a mafia don trying to hunt down his family doctor. They would only see a desperate man sprinting and think, "Some business man is about to miss his flight."

It was a ridiculous thought—almost as ridiculous as the entire endeavor.

Because Massimo knew he couldn't keep Elena here in New York against her will. Physically, he could. It would be easy to take Elena back to the estate, have guards to prevent her escape, and continue having her play the role of his doctor and Mafia Queen.

But that would make him no better than Tyler. And even if Massimo could stand being compared to that snake, he couldn't stomach the thought of Elena miserable. And Massimo knew selfishly keeping Elena to himself would make her terribly miserable.

Yet Massimo kept running through the airport. This wasn't about trapping Elena at his side—it was about seeing her.

He needed to see her—just like he needed to breathe. Maybe there was a chance that if Elena saw him now, he'd finally be able to talk to her about everything. She would understand his actions—and maybe, just maybe, Massimo could convince her to stay.

He wanted nothing less than all that. But Massimo would settle for hearing Elena's thoughts directly. He knew he wouldn't be able to accept her rejection—her decision to leave him and New York for good—unless he heard it straight from her mouth.

So Massimo ran to gate G12 like his life depended on it.

Elena found her assigned seat on the plane. She noticed she was one of the last passengers and blushed. She buckled up and prepared for the plane to take off.
