The Omni-Wolf’s Choice novel Chapter 106

Chapter 106 One quick nap…

Connor’s POV

“Beta Connor, we’ve got a situation. It’s handled, but your mate caused… something… in

the main hall. Everyone’s confused. It’s done now.”

My jaw tightens. “What the fuck. Are you still with her?”

“In the lab, sir.”

“I’m coming.”

Seconds later I’m all but storming into her lab, heart hammering, lungs working too hard.

She’s there-Evelyn-talking like nothing happened.

And of course Bridget’s with her. The two of them, always.

I don’t understand how one glance can flip me inside out. I’m furious, worried sick-then

I catch Evelyn laughing, those caramel eyes bright, and my anger drops a single step.

Only one.

“What happened?” I’m across the room before I finish the question. “Why am I hearing

this from your security detail instead of you?”

Bridget takes the hint immediately. “I’ll see you later, Eve.” She gives a quick nod and

leaves with her guard.

Evelyn meets me halfway and presses her palm to my chest, grounding me. That’s when

I realize I’m breathing like I ran miles.

“Connor.” She looks up at me like she’s made of light. “I’m okay. The baby’s okay. We

just… didn’t feel like sharing space with certain people, so we might’ve used a little

magic.”

My eyes narrow. “Who?”

“Whitney,” she says, smirking like she enjoyed saying it.

My hands curl. “What did she say to you? Or do to you? Tell me the truth so I can go rip

out her tongue.”

“You can’t do that,” she laughs. “That’s not nice.”

She turns back toward her workbench, trying to pretend it’s over.

“It isn’t over,” I say, voice hard. “I need to know. Now.”

That makes her whip around fast, hands on her hips. The fabric stretches across her

stomach, and her bump shows clearly.

I love it. I love her.

“Connor Reynolds, if you think-”

“The guards are going out in one minute to locate her,” I cut in.

Evelyn’s eyes go wide. “Fine.” She exhales and reaches for the stool.

I step in and help her up onto it, steadying her carefully.

“I’m ordering you different chairs,” I tell her. “You can’t keep climbing onto this barstool. It’s only going to get harder as the baby grows.”

“Thank you.” She rubs her belly. “I was thinking the same thing. This little bean is already making everything harder, and I’m not even halfway through.”

“Big DNA. Big babies.”

She gives me a look. “I’m starting to believe you.”

I reach out and place my hand on her stomach, feeling the warmth of her skin, the life inside. The second I touch her, something in me settles-like my whole body remembers

how to be calm.

“She was doing what she always does,” Evelyn says. “Being petty. She made a comment

about me… and baby weight.”

I shake my head, disgusted. “She’ll never be a real Ruler. Not a good one. Not if I have

anything to say about it.”

My gaze sharpens again. “And the magic?”

Evelyn’s face tightens as she replays it. “Connor, it was strange. I was getting angry, and

then the lights started flickering like crazy. The silverware rattled. Plates trembled. Even

the drinks were shaking. It looked like a tiny earthquake.”

“So your abilities are shifting?” The thought hits hard-Omni-Wolf blood mixing with her because I have been marking her again and again, addicted to her, to claiming every inch she’ll give me. It’s insane how the marks vanish the next day.

All except the one on her neck.

“It wasn’t me,” she insists. “It was the baby. I think they felt how mad I was and then…”

“Decided to protect their mom.” Awe washes through me. “That’s wild.”

I put both hands on her belly and bend, kissing the curve gently. “I’m so proud of you,

little bean. Taking care of momma.”

My voice drops, aimed at the life inside her. “We can’t wait to meet you. I’ll keep you

both safe-so you focus on growing, and let me deal with Mom when she gets worked

up.”

When I look up, Evelyn’s smiling down at me, biting her lip. Her fingers slide into my

hair.

“I’m really enjoying this speech,” she murmurs.

“Good.” I straighten. “And you-Alpha’s daughter, mate of the Beta-have to rein in that

temper. Next time our little bean might escalate to flying weapons, and that’s not going

to look good.”

She leans in and whispers back, teasing, “Why are you whispering?”

I whisper too, dead serious. “I’m not giving our little warrior ideas.”

I step in close, slotting myself between her legs where she sits, and pull her into me.

“Oh. Right,” she says, still laughing.

Her arms wrap around my waist, and then her hands drift-lower. She grabs my ass like

she owns it.

“Evelyn,” I warn.

“My name hasn’t changed,” she says innocently.

“It should,” I admit. “I’d like it to. If you want.”

I breathe her in-citrus and clean rain, like summer right after a storm.

“I want all of you,” I say, holding her gaze. “Every part claimed. I adore you. I love you. It’s always going to be us-this family, this unit.”

“Oh, Connor.” She wraps me in a fierce hug. “I’d love to carry your name.”

Then her hand slips to the front of my slacks, and she strokes me through the fabric.

“Evelyn.” My voice comes out low and rough.

She freezes for half a beat-then smiles up at me as her fingers find the zipper. She

opens me up, slides her hand inside, and grips me.

A growl rips out of my chest.

I exhale like I’m already lost, because I am. She licks her lips, slow and deliberate, and

frees me from my pants. Then she lowers her head and takes me into her mouth.

I have been hard since the first touch. And I’ve had enough stamina built up since this

morning-before breakfast.

Round five.

An hour has passed since I left my glowing mate in her lab. She promised she’d lie down

within the hour, and I made sure her detail would stay on her about it.

Now I’m back at Ryder’s office. More work. More decisions.

I knock once and step inside.

Ryder’s sitting in one of the side chairs, water in hand. I drop into the chair across from

the sofa, and he tosses me a bottle. We drink.

No talking. Just quiet.

It’s strangely peaceful-the kind of silence that isn’t empty, just packed with everything

neither of us is saying.

Then the door knocks again.

Lucas walks in, pauses, and stares at us like he’s walked into a funeral. His confusion.

lasts all of two seconds before his mouth curls into a grin.

I shut my eyes. I don’t even want to watch him do whatever he’s about to do.

Before Lucas can speak, Pierce comes in right behind him, brows lifted. “What’s going

on?”

I take another drink.

Lucas looks delighted with himself. “Pierce, what you’re witnessing is an Alpha and a Beta with pregnant mates.”

Pierce’s lips twitch.

Lucas keeps going. “Pregnant mates with… above-average drives because of their

powers. And before you are two men who have been thoroughly worn out.”

Pierce chokes back a laugh. “Okay, but why aren’t they saying anything?”

Lucas straightens like he’s delivering a lecture. “Although they are best friends, the Beta

is mated to the Alpha’s sister. Therefore, there is no desire to share the details of why

they are utterly exhausted.” He pauses. “So they sit in silence… until the next pregnancy

craving arrives.”

He finishes it with a ridiculous British accent.

Ryder’s voice is calm and lethal. “Maybe I’ll send the comedians to border duty by the

swamps. You can practice your accents on the vermin.”

I can’t help the chuckle that escapes.

Lucas isn’t wrong. Ryder and I are both wrecked. Our mates are pregnant, powerful, and

their sex drives have gone off the charts. If I walk into a room, Evelyn is on me. If I inhale,

she’s ready.

It’s insane.

And I love it.

But it’s barely noon, and I have been inside my mate five times already.

If Ryder ever ordered mandatory naps, I’d be first in line.

And no, I’m not discussing the specifics with Ryder when my mate happens to be his

sister. That’s exactly why I’ve been leaning on Pierce more lately.

The guys take the couch between Ryder and me, still laughing under their breath.

Lucas flips open his laptop and starts moving through numbers and reports. We’ve got

agreements to close-land to manage, farming to plan, logistics to lock down.

A knock sounds.

“Come in,” Ryder calls.

Ms. Rebecca enters pushing a cart. Not just food-an entire coffee setup. Mini quiches.

Fruit. Breakfast wraps. A heated tray loaded with bacon, eggs, and French toast.

My stomach growls loud enough to embarrass me. I’m on my feet instantly.

“Goddess, Ms. Rebecca, you’re incredible,” I say, already reaching for a plate.

She smiles like she’s pleased to see us alive. “Someone has to feed the fathers-to-be. I

can only imagine the extra effort required to keep those special women satisfied.”

Ryder steps beside me, making coffee. “We appreciate you.”

Ms. Rebecca turns to me. “Beta Connor-Evelyn. Is she all right after this morning?”

Ryder’s head snaps up. “This morning? Is that why you rushed out earlier?”

Inside me, Talon bristles.

“She’s fine,” I say evenly. “She should be resting right now.”

Then I add, “Ryder, she had an issue with Whitney. Just the usual smart mouth.”

Ms. Rebecca, unfortunately, keeps talking. “Yes, but the baby didn’t care for it. Alpha Ryder, your sweet pea made the lights flicker, and every table in the hall started rumbling!” She lowers her voice, though it’s too late. “Everyone’s talking about it. About

how powerful that baby will be.”

My gut turns cold.

We do not need whispers.

Whispers become envy, and envy becomes hands reaching for what isn’t theirs. Drake.

and I have never hesitated to kill anyone who touches our mates-man or woman.

Ryder’s expression hardens. “Bring Whitney in. If she can’t behave after being given a

second chance, then it may be time for her to leave this pack.”

I nod. I’d rather end her and be done.

“I’ll have her brought in, Alpha,” I say, already looking forward to the conversation.

Ms. Rebecca wrings her hands. “I didn’t mean to stir trouble. I only meant… that baby is

special. He’s going to matter to this pack. I’ve probably said too much.”

I stop mid-reach for food and look up sharply. “Wait. You think it’s a boy?”
