They proceed to tell us that Dutton is taking them to go find out about their previous Alpha female, the one who sacrificed herself to help them get away.

I’m proud of the twins for fighting for their Alpha. Neither of them are true fighters. They, unlike me, Allison, and even Sophie, don’t enjoy sparring or battles. They are both gentle women, although Tammi is more so than Tiffany. They’re putting their own fears aside and using their positions as Lunas to try and help their previous Alpha female.

However, what they’re doing is serious. They’re potentially planning to kidnap an Alpha female from her family or mate, and it sounds like Dutton is planning to do it alone.

Well, that won’t happen if I can help it. I’m not letting my friends risk themselves and their pups. I look at him over my shoulder. “Possibly to kidnap the twins‘ previous Alpha female if she’s being held captive by her family or by a mate that forced his mark on her,” I say, watching him.

His eyes open and he focuses on me. “That’s dangerous, and illegal if she’s underage. If it’s her family it might be easier but taking an Alpha female from her mate…that’s war, Nikki, you know that.”

“I do. That’s why I’m surprised that he’s not telling any of you,” I say to him. “Although he’ll need to tell Ezra if he plans to use his pack to stay in while he checks in on this Alpha female.”

He thinks about it a minute, shifting and pulling me tighter against him as he rests one hand over my stomach so he can feel his pup.

“I would guess that he’s trying to keep us out of it, or maybe he doesn’t want us trying to talk him out of it if he’s determined to do it.”

“The twins feel really strongly about it,” I tell him.

“Then he’ll do it for them, no matter the consequences, just like ! would for you. Like any of us would for our mates. We need to have an Alpha meeting soon. If I don’t have a chance to talk to him at the competition next weekend, I’ll talk to him then,” he says, refocusing on me. “I’m assuming you want to help?”

“Yes.

He nods, not surprised. “You could look through the laws and see if there are any loopholes for him.‘

“I can do that. You mean something like how Hunter got away with housing me, Letti, and several others who were underage because we asked for assistance?” I ask.

“Exactly. And Hunter is setting another precedent with helping Jocelyn, so it’s possible that there is something in the laws that we could use to fight legally if, or more likely, when this Alpha’s father or mate comes hunting for her. I will say, though, I’m surprised that he’s bringing the twins. I’d never take you in your pregnant state to try and kidnap someone, much less an Alpha female. It would put you at too much risk.”

“I think it’s because she doesn’t know Dutton and wouldn’t trust him. The twins think if they’re there, then she will come willingly.”

“That’s a lot of ifs for a man who seems to be planning to do this on his own,” he says. “I’ll definitely talk to him but see what you can find in the laws between now and then.

“Thanks, Robin,” I say, snuggling against him.
