I know Dutton hasn’t told the others of his plans to get that Alpha female. If he had, we’d all be talking about it. But I know my mate, and as soon as we get back to our pack, she begins digging through the archives to figure out how she can support her friends‘ and their decision to help their previous Alpha.

I spend the next week training Reese hard. I know he wants this pack and there will be two more Betas competing in this match. My Beta is strong, but so are the others. Not only that, but it sounds like Alpha Calvin will be competing and trying to win that pack.

“How strong is Alpha Calvin, compared to you and the other Alphas?” Reese asks me as we spar. Nikki is out here watching him, along with my Gamma, Harrison, and Lead Warrior. They are giving him pointers on form and ways to try and take me down, but my mate’s suggestions are the most astute. She is an incredible fighter. Well, she’s incredible at everything, but she’s also a good instructor. She’s patient and she sees things that others miss.

“I would too. I think he assumes that he’s stronger because he’s an Alpha. You work hard, Reese, I think you can take Calvin. Personally, I think the Betas will be your biggest competition. Has anyone seen Beta Miles spar?” Nikki asks of Dutton’s Beta.

“Yeah, he’s good.” I say, ducking under Reese’s roundhouse kick and sweeping my leg to try and knock him off his feet. He jumps and I miss, both of us getting back into position as we spin around.

“As good as Lucas?” Nikki asks.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen him, but personally, I think those two will be your biggest competition Reese. I heard Sophie saying that she wants Lucas to take over the pack so that her sister is safe, and Lucas doesn’t like letting his Luna down,” I say.

“None of us do,” my Beta, Gamma and Lead Warrior all say at once, making me smile.

“And you never have,” Nikki says, smiling at them.

“What about Gamma Caleb, Alpha Amelia’s Gamma. Do you think he‘ s a contender?”

“He’s an arrogant asshole who thinks more highly of himself than he should,” Nikki says, making all of us stop to look at her.

“Tell us how you really feel, baby,” I say, teasing her.

“I’m not sure how or why Alpha Carter made him his Gamma, but he’s not worth the title, in my opinion. He definitely doesn’t like having a female for an Alpha, so if the opportunity ever presents itself, I intend to remind him that an Alpha is an Alpha. I have no problem wiping the floor with him,” she says, growling.

I chuckle as Reese turns back and gives me a look. “Remind me to never piss off my Luna,” he says.

“You aren’t an arrogant asshole, or I’d have already put you in your place. I’m not sure if it’s because she was pregnant or new in her position, but I’m surprised that Amelia hasn’t ripped that in the bud yet.”

“Do me a favor, baby. Wait until AFTER you deliver our pup to remind Caleb that you’re an Alpha female that can wipe the floor with whatever is left of him after you’re done with him,” I say.

“Only because you asked me nicely, baby,” she purrs, making me smile and distracting me enough that Reese gets a hit on me.

“Don’t pull your punches, Reese. You’ll never win if you do,” Nikki

says.

“She’s got what she wanted from me, a pup and an heir and now she’s done with me,” I say, playfully as I continue to focus on Reese.

“Oh no, my Alpha. I’ve only just started getting what I want from you,” she says, purring. I turn and look at her, just as Reese takes her words to heart and slams his fist into my face full force.

“Dammit, Nikki! Stop distracting me!” I say, as I shift my jaw, cracking it back into place. “Nice hit though,” I say to Reese.

“Alpha, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hit you when you weren’t ready,” Reese says.

“You’re good. My mate was trying to distract me,” I say, watching her smile at me.
