Chapter 419
“She’s Sophie Reynolds now. Her mate, Hunter, marked her in private. They’ve started a revolution. All of their neighboring packs are following new ways, re–writing the old laws that give women no rights.”
“How do you know all this?” she asks.
“Sophie is one of my best friends. She took me and a couple other ranked females in when we were on the run, protected us, and because of her, I found Robin, my mate. He’s a good man, a great Alpha, a fantastic mate, and he’ll be an incredible father,” I say, looking back
down at our son.
“So, you’re not on the run anymore?”
“Yes and no. Like I said, a Beta kidnapped me, wanting to make me his own. I don’t know if he’s dead or not, but I know that if he’s alive and he finds me, he’ll kill my son.
Just then, we hear howls way off in the distance.
“That’s them. We need to go, unless you recognize those howls?” she
asks me.
“Without my wolf, they’re too far away,” I say, just as Rory falls off my breast.
“Burp him and I’ll get us ready,” she says.

stare at my son, having no idea what I’m supposed to do. She watches me a moment, then moves him so his head is on my shoulder. “Tap him enough to get the air bubbles out.”
I do as she says, while she collects the food and what little else we
have.
When he burps, she looks at me. “Okay, I’ve been putting my shirt on you and putting him inside so he’s close to you and stays warm. I suggest that you do that, and I can shift. You’ll have to ride me, but you can wear my shorts while I run.”
“Okay,” I say and she helps me get Rory settled. Then she pulls off her shorts and I put them on while she shifts.
We hear another howl, and she barks at me. I hurry and get on her, making sure Rory is tucked up tight against me, holding him with one arm and holding on to Jacqueline’s wolf’s fur with the other, clamping my legs around her body.
“Go!” I say, and she takes off like a shot.
Robin
I barely slept and I shoved food in my mouth the next morning, knowing I need it to keep Derric strong. But I didn’t taste it. Everything is dull and tasteless without Nikki. Life has no meaning, no color, no interest to me without her. I’ve got to find her.
Everyone else hurries, knowing that I’m antsy to get going. The others shift and I call to Derric.
Chapter 419
Another day or two. If we can find our mate, I’ll heal faster.‘
I look at my friends. “Go, I’ll catch up to you,” I say and they take off running.
I lift my head to the sky, calling to Nikki, hoping that she can hear me wherever she is. I wait, but I don’t get a response.
‘She could be sleeping,’ Derric whimpers in my head as I take off running toward the mountains in the distance.
‘She could be passed out,‘ I say, hopeful. Then I decide I need to know. ‘You would know, right? You would know if she died?‘
‘I would know. We would feel it. She’s alive, Robin.’
I haven’t been running long when I hear the snarls and snapping jaws of my friends. I lift my nose in the air, Derric pushing forward. Ranked males. There’s only one reason ranked males would be all the way out here. They’re hunting females.
As I jog up, I hear an unfamiliar voice talking.
“We’ve been hunting her for weeks. She’s ours.”
“We don’t allow public claimings in this part of the territory,” Hunter
says.
“This territory doesn’t belong to anyone,” another voice says.
When I finally catch up, I see ten people, including an Alpha and
Beta. They’ve set themselves up so they’ve encircled my friends, as if that will intimidate them.

Chapter 410
“Our packs are here Our she wolves are not allowed to be claimed publicly or against their will. You need to leave this area. If we catch you trying to forcibly mark or publicly claim a she–wolf, we won’t hesitate to kill you,” Dutton says.
“You have no authority here and you’re outnumbered,” the Alpha says.
Kayce laughs. It’s a derisive laugh. It’s the one he uses when he thinks someone is too stupid for him to give his time to.
“You think that seven Alphas can’t take out ten wolves? Especially when only one of them is an Alpha?” he asks.
One of the warriors turns and snarls at me as I jog up. I’m in no mood for any of this. Derric pushes forward and extends his claws. I swipe them from the warrior’s ear to his lip leaving large gashes in his face.
