Chapter 459

“I’m so glad to hear it,” she says unable to hide her smile. “I have news.” She glances at her mate behind us. Between her smile and his growl at her look, I already know what she’s going to say.

“I’m pregnant!” she says excitedly.

“Congratulations! Oh, Letti, I’m so happy for you,” I say, hugging my

friend.

“Thank you. After Dr. Caspian stopped by your pack, he and Brooke stopped by ours. We had several pack members who have gotten injured while we’ve been rebuilding. But while he was there, I thought, why not have a pregnancy test? And I’m so glad that I did!”

“Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl yet?” Jacqueline asks.

“Not yet,” she says. “But I honestly don’t care. I’m just so excited.”

Once we’re downstairs, I say hello to Kayce and Allison’s pack members that I know, introducing Jacqueline, who stays close to me, while Robin goes around introducing our son. Everyone asks how I’m doing. It’s nice to feel so much love, even from a pack that isn’t my own. The Lunas and the other Alphas are just as concerned about me. and it reinforces what strong bonds and alliances we have with these other packs.

When the twins arrive with Alpha Dutton, they rush over to Jacqueline. “We heard that you’d gotten away! It’s so good to see you.”

They spend the rest of the time before dinner catching up, the twins asking if Jacqueline has any knowledge about their Alpha female Alex. Before know it, it’s time for dinner. Thankfully, I nursed Rory before we came down, so Robin can feed him while we all sit down. I notice that both Kayce and Hunter are doing the same with their pups.

As the food comes in, everyone begins talking. The camaraderie of our packs gives dinner a festive feel with lots of laughing around the table. I keep an eye on Jacqueline, who sat with the twins, but while she seems awed by the interactions of everyone she doesn’t seem

overwhelmed or nervous.

As dessert arrives, Kayce stands up, still holding his daughter. I’ve noticed that all of the men and Amelia as well, are adept at holding their pups while they eat and interact with the others around them.

“Tonight was meant to be a gathering for all of us to catch up. We’ve had a lot going on and I know that everyone was worried about Nikki, he says, raising a glass to me. “We’re so glad you have you back, safe and sound, Nikki.”

I smile, feeling a bit choked up by the love that I feel as everyone raises a glass to me and Robin wraps an arm around me.

“Thank you. It’s good to be back. This, all of you, feel like family to me.”

“Good, because as a family, we have a lot of work to do. Starting tomorrow morning, I’d like for us to start moving forward with the next steps. So, while we eat, let’s make up our agenda for tomorrow. That way, we can hit the ground running first thing in the morning,” he says, then gets a devious smile on his face, turning to Jacqueline.

“After I get my chance to see if Jacqueline is really as good as Robin

says she is,” he says, making everyone laugh.

“Do we all get to test your strength, Jacqueline? Word of your abilities as a fighter has already spread to the other packs,” Hunter says to her.

She opens her mouth to respond, her surprise obvious, but Tiffany beats her to it.

“Oh, please do tell me that you’re going to kick their assess. It’s a thing with the Lunas. They love showing their strength against the Alphas, Jac. And since I remember how strong you were, I want a front row seat,” Tiffany says excitedly.

“So bloodthirsty, my love,” Dutton says, kissing the side of her head.

“I miss sparring, Dutton,” she pouts.
