“Maybe we kill two birds with one stone. Rather than having our patrols running and trying to find Camden’s scent, maybe we should be searching for a place that’s out of the way, sendhing fucked away, you know what I mean?” Dutton says.

“It would need electricity,” Nikki says, looking thoughtful

“And water,” Tiffany says.

“A sewer system, too. So… off the grid but not too far off the grid,” Amelia says.

“So, between thirty minutes to three hours away by car, off the grid, but not too far off the grid … we could narrow that down,” Hunter says.

“Let’s take a break to feed our pups, and then we can get some lunch. While we break, I’ll get some maps and project them around so we can get an idea of where we want to search and we can divide and conquer from there,” Kayce says.

“Perfect,” I say, noticing that Brianna has started squirming around, which is why I’m sure that Kayce called for a break. Rory is still asleep, so I carefully lift Nikki off my lap and take our son from her.

“I’ll go change him,” I say, kissing her and turning to head up to our room.

“I’ll come with you,” she says. I look at her and I know we’re about to have ‘the talk’.

I grit my teeth. I know I have a strong, Alpha female for a mate. I love that about her, but I still feel much too out of control to step back. I have no idea how we’re going to come to any sort of agreement about this, but I knew this time would come. I just hoped that Camden would be dead when it did.

When we step into our room, I brace myself and turn around. Rather that laying into me, my mate walks up, takes my face in her hands and kisses me. I respond immediately, shifting Rory into one arm and pulling my mate against me with the other.
