“Run!” Derric growls at her.

Adira yips excitedly and rather than giving Nikki time to strip off her clothes, she leaps and shifts, shredding her clothing. Derric and I watch as she takes off like a shot out of the packhouse. I quickly strip, kicking her shredded clothing against the wall to collect later before Derric pulls the shift and we begin racing after our mate. As soon as we pass the doors of the packhouse, he lifts his head to the sky and howls the hunt for his

mate.

Derric pushes hard to catch Adira. She’s running fast and it’s good to see her strength. When he finally catches a glimpse of her, we look her over, making sure that she’s not limping, or favoring one side or the other. Once we both feel like she’s strong and running well, Derric begins to hunt her for real. We can smell Adira’s arousal, her need to mate with Derric.

When he finally catches her, he wastes no time mounting her, growling as she presses her head up against ours. Both of them growling their release before he lets her up and she takes off again.

I let our wolves run, play, and mate for hours, enjoying the outdoors after being cooped up all day, and enjoying the reconnection that they need as well. When I finally call it a night, I jog inside, getting my shirt and shorts. I toss my shirt to Nikki and put on my shorts, then we go collect Rory, listening to Letti as she tells us about Jake gagging as he changed Rory’s diaper. By the time she’s done, she and Nikki are laughing so hard that they both have tears running down their faces. Honestly, it is pretty funny, made more so because as she tells the story, Jake begins gagging again.

mate. We head back to our room, and since our wolves mated all evening we shower and I curl up around my mate, listening as the sounds of her breathing change as she falls asleep, and hearing son’s sweet suckling sounds as I follow my mate into sleep.

Fucking Jack! I’m still so furious that my Beta challenged me. Apparently, word has spread that not only can I not keep a mate, but that Пost to Dutton’s Beta, Miles, in the competition for Alaric’s pack. Jack must have thought that meant I was too weak to run our pack. He found out too late that he was wrong and because I’ve been hearing the murmurings in my pack and feeling the change in them, I had to make a statement with my previous Beta. So, not only did I defeat him, I killed him. Then, I challenged anyone else who wanted to take me on.

That was two days ago, the day I was supposed to leave for the Alpha meeting. Since I could feel the unrest in the pack, I stayed an extra day, making sure no one thought that they could take over my pack while I’m gone. I also decided on my new Beta, Anthony. He’s young, but he’s smart and he’s got some good ideas for our pack. Ideas that I may not have been open to hearing before, but I am now. My life is starting to spiral out of control, and I need to get hold of it.

When I’d asked Amelia to return to our pack, to reinstate herself as the pack’s Luna, she declined.

“What about my pack, Calvin? I’m not leaving them.”

“They can come with you. We can absorb them into our pack, Amelia.”

“This is their home, Calvin.”

“And this is YOUR home, Amelia!” I shouted. She had stayed silent while I’d gotten my temper under control.
