Chapter 471
I think we were all surprised when Calvin showed up for the last day of the Alpha meeting. We were even more surprised to hear that he had been challenged by his Beta. I can’t imagine Reese challenging Robin. Ever. Even when Robin was at his worst, distraught, searching for me and never home, Reese kept the pack running. He didn’t undermine Robin or use the situation to his advantage. I wonder if that’s a sign that Calvin isn’t a strong leader or that he’s not a good judge of people. He should have known that his Beta couldn’t be trusted.
I look around and realize that I couldn’t imagine Jake or Lucas doing that when they were Betas, or any of our Betas really, not Dante, Miles, Penny, or Jocelyn. Even the new Betas that Jake and Lucas have put in place would never betray their Alphas that way. So, what does that say about Calvin?
We get breakfast and I nurse Rory before we head back to the conference room. I’m excited because today is all about improving our packs and the relationships between us including the community center, funding the new packs, and building out new schools for our pups.
This time when we walk in, it’s Allison at the front of the room rather than Kayce.
I start laughing. “Yes, girl! Take charge.”
“You know I love it when she does,” Kayce says, smirking at his mate while holding their daughter. Allison blushes softly while the mates in the room all chuckle.
“I’m sure we all do,” Robin says, kissing the side of my head.
Chapter 471
“I’m going to remind you of that the next time we’re fighting for dominance,” I say, growling softly at my mate.
“Losing to you is such a sweet submission, my mate,” he says, watching me with an intensity that has heat flowing through my body. I watch as his smile widens like he knows the impact he’s having on me. I’m sure he does. And he’s right. ‘Losing’ to him is a very sweet submission one I wil gladly give him over and over.
“You need to stop that line of thinking, my little Alpha. We have a long day of work to get through,” he murmurs softly.
“You started it,” I mumble as I sit.
“And I’ll be finishing it later, don’t you worry,” he says, making me smile. He takes Rory from me, and we turn to look at Allison.
“As you all know, the Lunas have been working on a plan for the community center. Thankfully, Letti has some skill when it comes to drawing, so we have some sketches to show you,” she begins. “Sophie, since you’re leading this part of the project, I’m going to let you talk it through.”
Sophie stands and begins walking our mates through the plans that we’ve come up with – the structures we want, the pathways we want to add both dirt and concrete around the mountain, the playground, splash pond, and grilling areas. As she goes through it, our mates ask questions about logistics and the area where we are planning to put all of these things.
“What about security? You’re potentially leaving young mothers and pups exposed out there,” Calvin says. Unlike the other Alphas in the room, he hasn’t been kept up to date. Amelia, being an Alpha, isn’t able to join us on our calls as often as we’d like and I’m not sure how often she and Calvin talk about such things.
