Calvin looks at it a moment before nodding. “This is very well thought out,” he says.

“Thank you. It was a group effort,” Sophie says, as surprised by his praise as I am. I look at Robin and he shrugs. He doesn’t know where this is coming from either.

“I’m with Calvin, I think this looks great, so how are we getting it done?” Dutton asks.

“I’m so glad you asked, lover,” Tiffany purrs, smiling at him.

“The community project is how we’re proposing to fund the start-up packs,” I say. This has been my focus, funding the packs. “We’ve talked about them needing money, and we think this is a great way to help fund them and get the community area up and running without it taking forever. Of course, all the packs can participate, and we’d need to make sure that the funds were distributed based on the number of pack members each pack sends to assist and the hours they put in. But we believe that for financial reasons, Jake’s, Lucas’, and Reese’s new packs, Reese being the best man to win Aiden’s old pack, will have the most members to send.”

I’m smiling before I finish as the Alphas all start booing my choice of ‘best man’ to win the next pack.

over to kiss me.

“I thought so,” I say, smiling proudly.

“So, we’ll all have to put in money to fund the community center but based on the number of pack members and hours spent, the money would filter back to the packs needing it the most, is that correct?” Lucas asks

“That’s correct,” I say.

He looks at Kinsley and she nods. “I think it will work.”

He then turns to Jake. “I agree. We were lucky enough to be given start-up funds by Ezra, but in the end, that will only rebuild my pack. I need a steadier income for my pack and for now, this is a good start. As long as the cost to build doesn’t exceed what my pack members are making, it should work.”

“We’ll make sure it doesn’t. But a lot of that will be about how many pack members you send and how many hours they can participate.”

“You know, this will make all of our packs safer,” Robin says quietly. “Well, those of us who live in this area, anyway. Camden got to me and Nikki from this community area. It isn’t currently monitored or patrolled. Once it is, it will be a lot more difficult for anyone to sneak up on us from behind. All of our packs face backward toward this mountain. If that entire area is patrolled, no one could ever attack us from that direction. It also means that it’s the best place to build the new schools that I think we’ re going to need.”

I reach out and take his hand. I know that protecting me and Rory is his top priority, but he’s right. I hadn’t really considered it that way, but it’s true. Making this area a community center and patrolling the entire area will make us all safer.
