Chapter 481

“There’s someone inside!”

My mate slowly gets out of the car, watching me. “Are they alive?” she asks, going to the back to get my medical kit.

The car has compacted, crushing the person inside. Whoever this is will have significant injuries. It’s unlikely that they’ve survived. However, when I reach my hand inside the car and put it against the person’s throat, I feel a pulse. It’s faint, but it’s there.

“They’re alive!” I shout to Brooklyn.

She grabs my medical bag out of the trunk and an extra IV bag that we had leftover from Alpha Ezra’s pack.

I begin trying to open the car door, but it’s jammed. I rush to my car and get a crowbar from the trunk. “Call Alpha Hunter. Let him know what we‘ ve found and that we’ll be late. If this person is alive, I’ll need a pack to take him to,” I say, rushing back to the door and prying it open. It takes me a while. I’m not as strong as an Alpha. While I pull and tug, I hear Brooke leaving a message.

“He didn’t answer,” he tells me.

“The competition has probably already begun. Call Luna Sophie,” I say, starting to feel the door give.

I hear Brooklyn dialing just as the door releases. I pull it off and toss it aside as I listen to Brooklyn telling our Luna what we’ve found.

“She wants to know if we know who it is,” she says.

Chapter 481

“Here help me,” I say, carefully taking the person’s head and twisting their body so I can try to get them out of the car.

“Hang on, Luna,” she says, setting the phone down and coming over to

assist.

“Take their head and hold it steady. I can’t tell if they have a spinal fracture.”

Brooklyn carefully takes the person’s head and while she supports their head and neck, I try to pull their body out of the car.

“They’re stuck. Luna, I need help. Can you send some warriors?” I say, knowing that I’ll never be able to get this person out of the car on my own. Their legs are crushed and trapped in the car.

“Oh my goddess, Cas,” I hear Brooklyn gasp.

I turn and see that she’s rubbed the soot and debris off the person’s face.

“LUNA! It’s Alpha Calvin! Alpha Calvin has been in a car accident!”

Amelia POV

I couldn’t sleep last night. I kept tossing and turning, wondering why Calvin didn’t show up and why he didn’t call. I left several messages, but he never returned my calls.

get up in the morning and feed Athena. I try to let it go, but there’s a strong sense of unease inside me.

Let it go, Amelia. He obviously hasn’t changed.

I feel utter disappointment as I walk from Alpha Kayce’s pack through Alpha Robin’s and to Alpha Aiden’s old pack. I drop Athena off with the Lunas and I head to my first match.

I force myself to focus but the unease inside me continues to get worse When the match is finally done, I go to my phone, checking it and seeing that I still have no messages from Calvin. Just as I’m about to put it down and go to my next competition, it rings. It’s not a number I recognize, but since I’m hoping to hear from Calvin, I answer it.

“This is Amelia.” Since I’m not sure if the person calling is a werewolf I don’t use my title.

“Alpha Amelia. This Anthony, Calvin’s new Beta. I’m sorry to bother you but Alpha Calvin said he’d call when he got in last night and I haven’t heard from him. I’ve called him several times and he hasn’t answered so I

was hoping you could let me know that all is well. I don’t want to sound like a silly Beta, but…”

“What do you mean he was going to call you when he got in last night?” I ask, the unease increasing.

“Uh, he said when he got to your pack he was going to call and let me know that he’d arrived safely. I know that…”

“Anthony,” I say, interrupting him. “Calvin never arrived at my pack. Are you telling me that he left last night with the intention of coming to my pack?” I ask.

“Not last night, Alpha. He left yesterday morning. He couldn’t wait to see you and his pup. Are you telling me he didn’t arrive?” he asks, the worry in his voice almost as strong as my own.

I’m just about to answer when Sophie comes rushing up to me.

“Amelia! It’s Calvin. He’s been in a car accident!”
