I watch as the phone slips from Amelia’s hands. “Where?”

Luna Sophie hands her the phone.

“Dr. Caspian?” she asks, listening to whatever he’s saying. Because no one else is, I go pick up Alpha Amelia’s phone.

“Hello? Hello?” a man’s voice says urgently.

“Hello, who is this?” I ask.

“This is Beta Anthony, who is this?” he asks.

“My name is Jacqueline.”

“Where is Alpha Amelia?” he asks.

“Who’s Beta are you?” I ask, not recognizing the name.

“I’m Alpha Calvin’s Beta, now where is Alpha Amelia?” he demands.

“She just found out that your Alpha has been in a car accident. It sounds like a doctor is there.”

“Where?” he demands.

I listen, following Luna Sophie and Alpha Amelia as they run to where the cars are.

I say as I listen to their conversation.

“Is it foul play? Did someone do this to him?” his Beta growls.

“I don’t know, but they’re getting people together to go check it out,” I say, then turn, seeing that Miles is still standing beside me, watching the

interaction.

“Do they need help, Miles?”

“Yes. I’m going to volunteer.”

“No! You stay, you need to compete, and we don’t know how long we’ll be gone,” I tell him.

“I’ll go,” I tell him.

“Where are you going?” Beta Anthony asks. I give him the street and the general location of where they are. He tells me that he’s sending his own warriors to assist and then we hang up.

“Alpha Amelia, I’ll help,” I say.

“It’s not safe for you to go out there when your Alpha could still be hunting you, Jacqueline,” Miles says.

“I’ll go with her,” Reese says, jogging up.

Miles looks at him for a moment.

“She’s right. You need to stay and compete. My next competition won’t be

until this afternoon. I’ll keep her safe,” Reese tells him.

Miles finally nods in agreement. He pulls me to him and kisses me, pouring his fear for me into the kiss.

When he pulls back, he looks at me. “Stay close to Reese. I have no intention of losing you after I just found you.”

I nod and he turns to Reese. “I’m trusting you with my mate’s safety.”

“You know I won’t let anything happen to her,” Reese says.

I watch as Miles clenches his teeth. “Once my competition is done, I’ll find you.”

“I’ll see you soon, then,” I tell him before jogging off with the others who are getting together to go help and to search for any scents that may tell us who did this.

Nikki

All the Lunas were standing there when Sophie got the call from Dr. Caspian, so we know what is happening.

“Can I leave Rory with you?” I ask the twins and Letti while Sophie runs

to tell her sister about Calvin.

“Of course, but you need to be careful Nikki. Camden is still out there.”

I nod and begin jogging to where Robin is refereeing his fight. ‘Robin, stop the fight.‘

‘What? What’s going on?‘ he asks, but when I jog up, I see he’s stopped the fight.

“Nikki?‘ he asks and then realizes that there’s a buzz around the pack lands. The other Lunas must have asked their mates to stop their battles

“How long has he been there?”

“I’m not sure, but from what I overheard on my way to talk to you, sounds like he was planning to meet Amelia in their pack yesterday before coming here together.”

“Oh shit! He’s alive?”

“Supposedly. Robin, we’re the closest pack.”

“Yes! Absolutely, have them take him to our pack. I’ll alert our warriors that he’s coming in.”

“Robin,” I say, knowing this will be the part where we argue. “They’re worried that this was foul play. They’re sending trackers…”

“No, Nikki. No! It’s not safe for you to be out there. Camden is still out there. This could have been him for all we know. He could be waiting for you…..”

I take my mate’s face in my hands. “Breathe, my love.”

He pulls me to him. He’s breathing heavily with his concern for me, his fear and worry clear on his face.

“There will be many warriors out there with me. I won’t be alone…”

He’s still shaking his head no.

“Uh, Alpha, Luna, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I wanted to let you know that I’m going out to help search for scents where they found Alpha Calvin,” Reese says, jogging up. “Jacqueline is coming too.”
