Chapter 212
-Theo–
We left the pack, going after the lead we have.
Zane was driving, and Lucien sat in the front seat, unusually quiet.
And I couldn’t sit still, checking my watch over and over again.
The pull in my chest had grown stronger, and I felt Kaia’s pain grow stronger.
Every second we wasted felt like a knife twisting deep into my heart, and I was breathless.
My phone rang.
I didn’t even check the name and just picked it up.
“Theo.” Draven.
My jaw tightened. “Make it quick. We’re moving.”
“You need to stop,” he said immediately.
I almost laughed. “Why? I don’t think I have time to joke around right now, Draven”
“Listen to me,” he snapped. “What I’m about to say might change everything.”
Something in his tone made me pause.
“Go on, talk.” I breathed.
“The Alpha Lord, James Vance, he’s part of it.” I fell silent, taking in his words.
Zane’s hands tightened on the wheel, glancing at me, and Lucien turned his head slightly.
“…Say that again,” I said slowly.

“James Vance is working with the terror group,” Draven continued. “I have proof, financial trails, forged authorisations that connect him to rogue attacks. He’s not just involved, he’s neck-deep in it.” \
My blood went cold, and then began to boil.
“And you’re telling me this now?” I asked, voice dangerously low.
“I just confirmed it. Theo, if you’re heading toward that lead, he might already know. You could be walking into a trap”
Draven’s voice shook, and Lcould hear him pacing.
Zane slowed the car down, and he looked up at me.
“Alpha…” he muttered. I looked up. “What’s going on?” Zane asked.
I didn’t answer and returned my attention to Draven.

“We are still going after him. It’s either now or never. Besides, he can’t possibly know we are unto him yet.” I replied to
Draven.
“You might be right,” Draven agreed. “I’ll be on the lookout for any danger”
“Thank you,” I said, and I asked Zane to keep driving.
We didn’t come this far to stop now, and I dont have much to waste.
When we reached the destination, Zane stopped, and we surveyed the place.
A little while later, someone popped out, and when I looked, there he was, James Vance.
He was on a call, walking to and from. We remained in the car and watched him for a while, making sure his security wasn’t too tight and that we could handle them if anything went wrong.
Lucien cursed under’ his breath. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“Theo? Are you there? Theo-” Draven was still talking in my ear.
I cut the call, opened the door sharply, and stepped out before I could stop myself.
The air shifted instantly, the moment James saw me.
“Ah,” he said smoothly. “I was wondering how long it would take you to find your way here.” James smiled.
I didn’t answer and kept walking towards him.
Something didn’t feel right because something about this wasn’t right.
It was too easy, and we walked in on James without hassle.
It was suspicious.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he continued lightly. “You’re interfering in matters far beyond your authority.”
My wolf snarled, and I stepped forward.
“Funny,” I said quietly. “I was about to say the same thing.”
Lucien and Zane got out behind me, flanking slightly.
James glanced at them, unimpressed.
“You brought company,” he mused. “How… predictable.”
Then his gaze returned to me.
“Tell me, Theo,” he said softly, “how much do you think you know?”
“Enough,” I replied.
And then, I moved fast before he could realise I was onto him.
I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the nearest tree so hard the bark cracked on impact.

Chapter 212
Zane and Lucien tensed and looked around for his men, and when they showed up, they took care of them.
James snapped back, but he didn’t struggle or look the least bit surprised, and that pissed me off more.
‘You’re going to start talking,” I growled, tightening my grip. “Now.”
James coughed once, then grinned annoyingly.
‘You’ve always been impulsive,” he said hoarsely. “It’s going to get you killed.”
‘Where is she?” I snarled.
His eyes flickered.
‘Ah,” he murmured. “So this is about the girl.”
‘She has a name.” My grip tightened.
“Yes,” he said calmly. “She does. Tell me, Theo… do you know who you’re risking everything for?”
My chest tightened all of a sudden, and the pull in my chest spiked.
The pain was sharp and violent; Kaia was in pain.
My vision darkened, and James saw it.
‘Oh,” he said, smiling. “You feel her, don’t you?”
Rage exploded through me. I slammed him harder against the tree.
‘If you hurt her-” “I didn’t,” he cut in calmly.
That stopped me for a second. His eyes gleamed.
‘But the people I work with?” he tilted his head. “They’re far less… patient.”
Lucien stepped forward slightly. “Theo, don’t let him stall—”
‘I’m not stalling,” James said smoothly.
Then he looked straight at me. And dropped the bomb.
‘You’re already too late.”
Something inside me snapped.
I dragged James away from the tree and slammed him onto the ground so hard the earth shook

He choked, air punching out of him, but I didn’t give him time to recover before I hauled him back up by his collar and drove my fist into his ribs.
His bones cracked, and his breath caught.
“Where is she!?” I punched him in his ribs again.
James curled slightly but didn’t scream, damn him. Instead, he grimaced and then smiled

A sick, twisted smile that drives me mad.
‘You really are your father’s son,” he gasped. “All rage, no patience”
I hammered my fist into his jaw. Blood splattered everywhere.
‘You’ll talk,” I growled. “Or I’ll tear every inch of truth out of you.”

So I dragged him forward and smashed his head into a boulder. His body went slack for a moment, dizzy and dazed, but he was conscious.
Zane took one step forward.
‘Try again,” I snarled, grabbing James by the hair and forcing his face up. “Tell me where she is.”
This time, for a moment, he broke, or so I thought.
‘Okay…” he wheezed. “Okay, Theo, stop. I’ll talk.”
Lucien stiffened, and Zane exhaled in relief.
James swallowed thickly, coughing blood, and rasped.
‘She’s… she’s being held north… in-” He paused, his jaw shook, and he gasped dramatically.
‘Finish it.” I leaned in.
James started laughing wildly, screaming as if he had just seen a clown show.
His head fell back against the ground as he laughed harder, his shoulders shaking and blood running down his chin.
“You idiot,” he wheezed between hysterics. “Do you really think I would tell you? That easily? After all the trouble we went hrough to get her?”
‘You’re toying with me.” My blood boiled with rage.
‘Yes,” he grinned, eyes burning with madness. “And gods, it’s fun.”
I grabbed him by the throat and squeezed so hard he kicked against the ground, clawing at my arm.
‘Tell me,” I snarled, “before I rip your skull open.”
‘You think I fear death? I’m used to this, Alpha Theo. But your mate? Think about her, will she survive this?” he laughed again.
I snapped and slammed him again. My fist raised, ready to crush his jaw.
“Theo!” A hand grabbed my arm, yanking me back.
Lucien shoved me backwards a step, planting himself between James and me.
“If you kill him now,” Lucien warned tightly, “we lose everything he knows.”
“He’s lying!” I roared, trying to push past him.
“Maybe,” Lucien shot back. “But maybe not. And we need answers. If you kill him in a rage, you might end up regretting it

later”
Zane moved to help hold me back, his breath ragged.
Behind them, James lay on the ground laughing weakly, completely unfazed by how close he was to death.
“You two think you can protect him from me?” I growled, fury trembling through my bones.
“No,” Lucien said.
“This is the only way to ensure Kaia’s safety”
My fists unclenched slowly, and my breath became ragged as the rage twisted inside me.
Lucien didn’t look away.
