The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 1055

Callahan stood by the door, his hand already gripping the handle.

Seeing him about to leave, the knot of tension in Fitch's chest loosened just a fraction.

But before he could even exhale, Callahan froze. The sudden pause made Fitch's heart skip a beat, a sickening wave of dread washing over him.

It was as if Callahan had just remembered a crucial detail. Instead of walking out, he turned around and slowly paced back to the table.

Leaning forward, Callahan placed both hands flat on the cold metal surface, looming over Fitch with suffocating intensity. He locked eyes with the older man, drawing out his words with deliberate, agonizing slowness.

"I know exactly what's running through your head right now."

"You're just stalling. You think every minute you waste in here is another minute buying time for your all-powerful 'Sir' to swoop in and miraculously fix everything, don't you?"

Fitch's gaze flickered, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously. But he kept his chin up, stubbornly doubling down. "I don't know what you're talking about! I don't know any 'Sir.' I've got nothing to hide, and I haven't done anything you're accusing me of. I'm innocent!"

Callahan ignored the pathetic display. A dark, mocking smile touched his lips as he continued, completely unfazed by the denial.

"You think you hold all the cards. You think you know enough secrets to take him down with you, so you're untouchable, right? An 'indispensable partner' he wouldn't dare abandon?"

Callahan leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a lethal whisper. "But has it ever crossed your mind that your precious 'Sir' isn't trying to figure out how to save you... but rather how quickly he can erase you so you never talk again?"

Having delivered the psychological kill shot, Callahan didn't stay a second longer. He gave Fitch one last, pitying look, spun on his heel, and yanked the iron door open. He strode out without a backward glance.
