The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 924

Catching the signal, Leilani briefly closed her eyes. When they fluttered open, the cold calculation had returned.

She took a breath and tossed her handgun onto the concrete with a sharp clatter.

Being cornered left a bitter taste in Abel's mouth. Seeing Leilani surrender her weapon, he ground his teeth together in sheer frustration. While he logically knew this was the smartest play to keep everyone breathing, handing over their only defense meant they were entirely at the enemy's mercy.

But after catching Callahan's stern look, Abel reluctantly released his grip on his weapon.

The masked men immediately stepped forward to disarm and pat them down.

When a guard roughly grabbed Leilani to pin her arms behind her back, she leveled a death glare at him. "Keep your hands off me. I can walk on my own."

The sheer authority in her tone made the man hesitate.

The leader noticed the exchange and sauntered over. Stopping in front of Leilani, he reached up and flipped open his visor, revealing a face marred by a grotesque scar.

The jagged line slashed diagonally from his left brow, across the bridge of his nose, and down his right cheek, splitting his rugged features like a rigid centipede. It gave him an aura of pure, unadulterated menace.

The scar pulled the corner of his left eye down, making his gaze feel like a constant, unsettling interrogation.

He looked Leilani up and down, a twisted smirk forming. "Tsk, tsk. The legendary Dr. Sloan. You live up to the hype. Vicious with a needle, sharp with a gun."

"Cool under pressure and spicy as hell. I like it!"

He chuckled darkly, casually brushing the back of his gloved hand against her cheek.

Leilani snapped her head away in revulsion.
