The three men let out muffled groans and collapsed, their unconscious bodies dragged like sacks of potatoes into a dark corner.
Having fought side-by-side with them, Leilani couldn't hold back. "What the hell are you doing?!"
She thrashing against the guards restraining her, but they held her back firmly.
The leader ignored her outburst, casually flicking his wrist again.
Two men marched forward, violently hauling Payton out of his wheelchair. Since his legs were completely paralyzed, he couldn't support his own weight. The guards practically dragged him across the floor, his useless legs trailing behind him.
They hauled him up against a cold, metal rack shaped like a crucifix. Heavy iron cuffs were ratcheted down over his wrists and ankles, locking him securely in place.
"Payton!"
Leilani had long considered the older man her family. Seeing him treated like an animal made her blood boil. She leveled a lethal glare at the leader. "If you have a problem, take it out on me! What kind of coward tortures a disabled man?"
The leader acted as if she hadn't spoken, simply raising his hand once more.
Panic began to claw at Leilani's chest. What was this psycho planning?
Two guards moved toward Callahan, attempting to force his arms behind his back. Callahan, however, wasn't going down without a fight.
He drove an elbow into the closest guard, but with his hands already bound and severely outnumbered, he was quickly overwhelmed. They dragged him to the wall, shackling his wrists to two heavily rusted iron rings suspended high above the floor, leaving him dangling by his arms.
Leilani was forced to watch helplessly as they strung up the men she cared about.
Rage and a primal thirst for murder flooded her veins. She had never wanted to end someone's life so badly.
