After breakfast, Hannah dabbed at her mouth with a napkin and asked, “How many days are we staying? Should I start packing?”
She figured Barnaby must’ve been going stir-crazy cooped up at home all week while recovering. Getting out for a bit would be good for him.
“I’ve already got everything packed for you,” Barnaby said. “We should be back tomorrow night, but if you want to stay and have some fun, we can totally extend the trip.”
Hannah blinked in surprise. ‘He even packed my intimates?’ she wondered.
As they stepped out, Piggy was already camped by the door. The moment it swung open, it shot out like a rocket and parked itself at the elevator, those glossy black eyes locked on Hannah, tail wagging so hard it was practically a blur, like it was begging. “Take me with you!”
Barnaby walked over at a leisurely pace, bent down, and with his big hand, scooped Piggy up in one smooth motion, turning to carry it back inside.
Piggy caught on to his plan, snorted in protest, wriggled out of Barnaby’s grip, and zippéd straight to Hannah’s feet, letting out a string of adorable coos, trying to act all cute.
“If it’s not scared, let’s just bring it along,” Hannah said, crouching down to pick Piggy up and giving its little head a gentle pat.
Piggy squinted its eyes in pure bliss, snuggling into Hannah’s arms and cooing contentedly.
“Getting bored of pig chow, thinking about switching to dog food now?” Barnaby gave Piggy a look that could kill.
Hannah lost her words.
When they got down to the first floor, the bodyguards had already stashed their bags in the trunk. Seeing Hannah and Barnaby come down, they popped the car doors open.
Half an hour later, they arrived at a massive airfield, with a jet prepped and ready to go.
Hannah cradled Piggy in her arms and looked around. Parked far from the main terminal, it was clear this was no ordinary flight, definitely a private jet.
She took a closer look. It was a tricked-out Boeing 747, decked out like a five-star hotel in the clouds: bedroom, dining room, lounge, office, bathroom, kitchen, the works.
Honestly, with enough fuel, you could just move in and never come down.
Hannah wandered through the cabin, and the only words echoing in her mind were, ‘This is just obscene luxury, totally over the top!’
She helped the flight attendant get Piggy settled in, then headed to the lounge and dropped onto the couch next to Barnaby.
“Barnaby, didn’t you say you were barely scraping by with the Thole family?” Hannah teased, giving him a sideways look, clearly waiting for his explanation.
Barnaby just said flatly, “Rented.”
Hannah glanced at the napkin in front of her, with “Xenith Systems Group” printed on it. She had no words. ‘Is this what struggling looks like?’ she thought.

She remembered Xenith Systems Group. Two years back, they snatched a huge project right out from under the Thole family and skyrocketed. In just two years, they’d cracked the top ten companies in the country.
Their CEO was Finneus Wraith, a self-made guy who started with nothing.
And get this, just two years in, they already had a private jet that cost at least 500 million. Talk about making bank off the Thole family’s loss.
The Thole family’s head probably despises Xenith Systems Group, and here Barnaby’s out here renting their jet like it’s no big deal.
Hannah just shook her head. “Seriously, you’re something else!”
Barnaby just stared at her, not saying a word.
Once the plane was cruising smoothly, Hannah unbuckled her seatbelt and went to check on Piggy.
It was Piggy’s first time flying, and the roar of takeoff had really freaked it out. It was huddled in its cage, trembling all over.
Hannah opened the cage door and gently stroked Piggy, her heart aching for the little guy.
“Is Piggy alright?” Barnaby strolled over, camera in hand.
“Just scared,” Hannah murmured, gently scooping Piggy out of the cage.
Barnaby shot Piggy a cool look and said, “If it kicks the bucket, we can always turn it into roast suckling pig.”
Piggy jolted, snorted twice at him in protest.
‘You’re the one who should be roasted!’ Piggy thought indignantly.
“See? It’s still putting up a fight. No way it’s dying on us, so don’t worry,” Barnaby told Hannah.
Piggy: ‘Damn, I let my guard down.
Hannah lost her words.
But at this point, whether it was Hannah’s soothing touch or Barnaby’s tough love, Piggy had totally perked up. No more trembling. Instead, it jumped right down to the floor, nose twitching as it started poking around every corner, acting like it was the boss of its brand-new territory.
Barnaby told Ronin to keep an eye on Piggy, then led Hannah into the bedroom. “Come on, snap a few pics of me first.”
Hannah took the camera he handed her and spent a moment figuring out how to use it.
When she looked up, Barnaby had already stripped off his shirt, revealing his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and a torso covered in all kinds of scars.
Hannah paused for a moment.
“That was fast… Why does he look so practiced at this?’ Hannah thought.
She raised the camera, took a quick shot of Barnaby, peeked at the screen, then handed it back to him without a word.
“Is this… okay?” Hannah asked, a little unsure.
Barnaby took the camera, glanced at the photo, and just gave her a look, not saying a thing.

“So… it’s bad, huh?” Hannah coughed awkwardly, already knowing the answer.
She barely ever took photos, selfies were almost unheard of, so yeah, her skills behind the lens were pretty rough.
Barnaby was even more speechless.
He thought. People always roast their boyfriends for taking photos from the worst, most tragic angles, but wow, Hannah’s got the same killer touch!
Honestly, the only thing saving these pics is my face. If I wasn’t this good-looking, they’d be a disaster
“Just keep practicing, you’ll get it,” Barnaby said, trying to cheer her up.
Hannah lost her words.
“Here, I’ll teach you,” Barnaby offered, moving closer.
He switched the camera to photo mode and started explaining the usual tricks, using random stuff in the room to show her how to get good shots.
Hannah paid close attention, and every so often, she’d go along and snap a few photos of Barnaby striking a pose for her.
Three hours later, when they finally landed at Deer City Airport, Hannah had at last managed to take a few shots of Barnaby that were actually worth showing off.
After another half-hour drive from the airport, they hopped on a yacht and headed out to an island.
The island was thick with trees, the scenery was gorgeous, and scattered among the woods were a few cozy villas. The ocean was a brilliant blue, and the vast stretch of beach was completely deserted.
“A film crew’s been shooting here for the past couple of days, so they cleared the place out,” Ronin explained.
Hannah wasn’t entirely convinced.
The three of them, plus Piggy, made their way to a private villa, had a meal, and then settled in for some rest.
By five in the afternoon, once the sun had mellowed out a bit, Hannah was ready to get changed into a swimsuit and head out to the beach.
But when she popped open the suitcase Barnaby had packed for her, she found five different beach dresses, each a different color, her underwear, a beach hat, shoes, everything except a swimsuit.
“I didn’t expect the beach to be cleared out, so I didn’t bother packing you a swimsuit,” Barnaby said, propping himself up in the doorway.
He was already rocking a plain white tank top and some loud, colorful beach shorts.
Hannah lost her words.
‘Wait, did he do that on purpose?’ Hannah thought, feeling a little miffed.
‘Ugh, I wanted to go swimming!’ she sulked.
“Next time, when it’s just us, I’ll make sure you have one,” Barnaby promised.
Truth is, the brand store did send some swimsuits over, but Barnaby took one look at how skimpy they were and noped out. No way he was letting her wear that with random strangers around.
Hannah was wordless.
Chapter 109
In the end, Hannah picked out a pale yellow beach dress with a cute print, shut the door behind her, and got changed. Guess this’ll have to do, she thought, a little bummed but rolling with it.
When she stepped out, Hannah saw Ronin in the living room, talking to a boy at the door with short, silver hair.
“Nope, we don’t have any. Just take him to the hospital,” Ronin replied.
The boy looked pretty let down, said thanks, and was about to leave when he spotted Hannah. His eyes instantly lit up.
“Boss!” he shouted, totally pumped.
