Chapter 161
Lauren, as Gemma’s partner in crime, had already watched Gemma rush to announce her arrest to the world, pinning everything on her without a second thought.
That was it for Lauren, she was totally fed up with Gemma. So she finally spilled the truth.
This time, when the cops tried their usual tricks, dangling a lighter sentence and pushing her to talk about that “other person” Gemma mentioned, Lauren didn’t even hesitate. She just went along with it.
Still, what she gave them was barely useful. Just scraps, really.
“From Lauren’s statement, Gemma’s pretty close to Iris in the Thole family, but there’s no solid proof, just her own suspicions. That’s all we’ve got from the last two days of questioning,” the caller reported.
“Got it, thanks,” Hannah said, hanging up. She softly said the name, “Iris Thole.”

She turned to her computer, logged into a private storage site she’d built herself, and pulled up Iris’s file.
Back when Hannah was still with the Thole family, Iris was studying abroad, so they barely crossed paths. To Hannah, Iris was always that picture-perfect rich girl who played by the rules.
According to the file, after Iris came back from overseas, she instantly fell for some broke artist and basically dragged him home to be her live-in husband.
They’d been married for ten years, but Iris never got pregnant. In the end, they adopted a son, Kyson Thole.
Rumor had it Iris couldn’t have kids, but she was desperate for a child of her own, so she’d been to countless doctors.
Hannah’s eyes narrowed. ‘Well, isn’t there a doctor right here?’ she thought.
‘Time to take back the identity Daisy’s been stealing from me,’ Hannah decided.
She logged onto Heaven Medical Network, and published an academic paper on disease-specific medications, which she had written the night before based on reference data from previous family drug trials.
Within a minute of going live, the paper had already racked up over ten thousand views and more than five thousand shares.
[First comment! I’m so hyped, the Nameless Healer finally dropped a new paper!]

Just three minutes after the paper went live, it went viral across the Internet, with every major media outlet covering it and securing the top spot on the trending charts.
“Knock knock.”
Barnaby called out from outside, “Baby, time to get up! You’re gonna be late for school.”
Hannah glanced at the clock, 7:40. ‘Almost forgot I still have to go to school, she thought.
She closed the website, cleared her browser history, shut down her computer, then went to open the door.
Standing at the door was Barnaby, dressed in a crisp white shirt and black slacks, a gray apron tied neatly at his waist.
His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, showing off those long, lean arms, he looked every bit the capable homebody, with just the right touch of domestic charm.
“Have you washed up yet? I made you a sandwich,” Barnaby said, bracing one arm against the doorframe as he looked down at Hannah.
Sometimes, Hannah had to admit, this guy was born for the home life, he totally had her wrapped around his finger with his cooking.
‘But what’s with him today?’ Hannah wondered.
He was blocking her way, and behind those gold-rimmed glasses, his phoenix eyes glinted with a devilish mischief, clearly, he wasn’t here just to be nice.
“So you made me breakfast, but you’re not even gonna let me eat it?” Hannah raised an eyebrow at him.
“Good morning. Shouldn’t you give me a good morning kiss?” Barnaby said, tilting his head, waiting expectantly for her.
Hannah stared at his ridiculously handsome face. Ever since she left the Thole family, she’d gotten a lot colder, so sometimes she just couldn’t figure out how this guy could be so thick-skinned.
Asking for gifts was one thing, but how could he act like asking for a kiss was totally normal?
‘Is it just because he’s got those glasses on?’ Hannah wondered.
Hannah rose up on her tiptoes, leaning in closer to Barnaby.
Their breaths mixed together, and Barnaby watched her flawless face get closer and closer. Just when he thought she was finally going to kiss him, she snatched the gold-rimmed glasses right off his nose.
“Knew it, just plain glass,” Hannah said, checking out the glasses before putting them on herself.
Barnaby was speechless.
“Look at you, turning into a little troublemaker,” he said, tousling her hair.
Hannah grinned. “Thanks, I learned from the best, you!”
Barnaby chuckled, cupped her head, and planted a quick kiss on her forehead. Hannah instantly shoved him away. “Hey, I’m still a minor! No dating before I’m an adult!”
Wait a second, that sounded awfully familiar. Wasn’t that the exact warning he gave her about Owen?
Barnaby was speechless.
He realized he’d just played himself.
Hannah was in a great mood now that she’d finally gotten the upper hand. She slipped on his glasses, sidestepped him, and as she headed downstairs, she tossed over her shoulder, “You’re even hotter without those glasses.”
Barnaby just gave a helpless smile and followed her downstairs.

Meanwhile, in a villa district on the outskirts of Brynlock, Daisy Reese was holed up in her studio, following the instructions in the secret manual of the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles as she practiced the technique on her assistant, for the hundredth time.
At a medical conference, Mr. Croft had brought up the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles and asked for her opinion, but Daisy just dodged the question, claiming she was busy and would discuss it with him next time.
As soon as she got home, she scoured every medical history book she could find, and finally tracked down the secret manual for the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles.
Daisy stuck a few needles in, waited a bit, then pulled them out. “How do you feel now?” she asked.
The assistant rolled her neck and nodded. “Way better! It doesn’t hurt anymore. Daisy, you’re awesome!”
“Glad to hear it,” Daisy replied with a smile, turning to her desk to jot down the acupuncture points she’d just used.
After twenty-one tries, she finally nailed it and got rid of those neck knots.
But compared to the Nameless Healer, who could cure a problem in one go, Daisy was nowhere near that level yet.
She dug out the printouts from Heaven Medical Network, all of them were the Nameless Healer’s old on the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles.
She pored over them, trying to fix her own mistakes.
“Miss Daisy, Lauren Baker is here to see you,” the maid announced, knocking as she stepped inside.

Daisy frowned. “Why is she here now?”
‘Wait, wasn’t she arrested?’ Daisy wondered.
Every headline lately had been about the Baker family falling apart, she’d seen it all. ‘Lauren showing up now? That can’t mean anything good.
‘Malcolm’s already dead. Does she want me to save Jasper or something?’ Daisy thought.
“She’s been released, and with the Baker Villa shut down, she’s got nowhere to go. Looks like she’s hoping to crash with you for a while,” the maid explained.
Daisy thought back to how Gemma had promised to set her up with Barnaby, but in the end, nothing worked out, and now Gemma was dead and
gone.
Daisy’s eyes flashed with annoyance, but she just smiled and said, “I’m busy with my medical studies, not seeing anyone right now.”
“Understood, Miss Daisy,” the maid said, and left the room.
Daisy went back to her research, when suddenly her assistant gasped, eyes glued to her phone.
“Daisy, did someone just hack your Nameless Healer account or something? The news is blowing up, they’re saying you just published a brand new paper!” the assistant said.
