Chapter 162
Daisy instantly took her assistant’s phone and checked the screen.
Top of the hot search: [The Nameless Healer just released a new academic paper.]
Daisy’s confidence wavered for a moment, but she kept her gentle smile. “No,” she replied.
With composure, she handed the phone back to her assistant.
The assistant looked puzzled. “No account hack? Did you post it? I thought someone was using your account to post random academic papers, since you’ve been so focused on the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles lately.”
That was true. Daisy had been burning the midnight oil studying the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles, and she was losing more hair than ever. There was no way she had time to research specialized pharmaceuticals.
But the fact that she wasn’t the Nameless Healer was a secret no one knew, not even her parents, the people closest to her.
So she couldn’t let anyone catch on.
“I’ve been working on some special formulas at night,” Daisy said with a smile.
“Daisy, you’re honestly incredible!” the assistant gushed, eyes shining with admiration. “You could be famous just for your looks, but you insist on proving yourself with real skill. And you’re already at miracle doctor level, but you still work so hard. You’re seriously an angel.”
Daisy chuckled. “Alright, that’s it for today. Go home and get some rest.”
“Will do! Thanks, Daisy. You take care too,” the assistant replied.
As soon as the assistant left, Daisy logged onto the Heaven Medical Network, looked up the Nameless Healer’s latest paper, and printed it out. She studied every line carefully, determined to understand every word.
Daisy always thought she was a genius in the medical world, but compared to the Nameless Healer, she felt like a rookie standing before a legend.
The Nameless Healer really lived up to their reputation, not only were they a master of both modern and traditional medicine, but they could even create extraordinary specialty medicines that were almost unheard
She was nowhere near that level yet!
After finishing the paper, Daisy cross-referenced all the herbs mentioned and sent someone out to gather them. She was determined to spend her nights experimenting with new medicines and her days honing her acupuncture skills.
‘If I keep working this hard, one day I’ll reach the Nameless Healer’s level, maybe even surpass them and claim that title for myself!’ Daisy thought to herself, her eyes burning with ambition.
Cavalor School.
Ronin pulled the car up to the school gate and turned to Hannah in the back seat. “Ms. Carter, we’re here.”
Hannah put her phone away and was about to open the car door when Barnaby placed a hand on her shoulder.
She turned around and was momentarily stunned by how close his handsome face was. She thought he was about to give her another goodbye kiss, so she instinctively lowered her head and averted her gaze.
But the kiss never came. Instead, with a smooth motion, Barnaby reached out and slipped off the glasses she’d been wearing since this morning.
Hannah was speechless.
Noticing the slight disappointment on Hannah’s face, Barnaby leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead, like he was trying to cheer her up.
“Do your best on the exam. I’ll come pick you up after school,” he said, his magnetic voice carrying a playful warmth.
Hannah was convinced Barnaby was doing this just to get even for her flirting with him earlier.
Refusing to let him win, she grabbed his collar, yanked him close, and planted a kiss right on his cheek.
Barnaby froze for a second, then a smoldering heat flared in his eyes. His big hand wrapped around her slim waist, making sure she couldn’t get away.
With his other hand, he lifted her chin, his thumb brushing over her soft, full lips as he teased with a playful glint, “Weren’t you the one who said no dating? Hm?”
Ronin caught that moment in the rearview mirror and quickly looked away.
He thought to himself, ‘Looks like I don’t need lunch after all, I’ve had my fill of their lovey-dovey PDA.
Hannah could feel his warm breath brushing against her face, sending a rush of heat through her. His eyes were so intense, it felt like he might just eat her up on the spot.
Then she suddenly remembered what he’d said before about men’s desires, and she shoved him away in a panic.
“Exactly! Early romance is totally off-limits! Mr. Thole, you’re supposed to be a role model!” she shot back, half teasing, half serious.
With that, Hannah opened the car door and hurried out.
‘I’m totally outmatched here. If I keep messing around, I’m just asking for trouble,’ Hannah thought.
Inside the car, Barnaby watched her walk away, a sly smile playing on his lips.
He was already counting down the days till Hannah’s eighteenth birthday.

“Boss, you finally showed up! I was starting to think you’d ditched us for good. Ever since you scored that guaranteed spot, you’ve totally changed, barely come to school anymore.
“Seriously, you’re like one of those heartbreakers who just ghosts everyone once they’ve got what they wanted,” Zoe teased the moment Hannah stepped into the classroom.
Zoe grabbed Hannah’s arm, her voice full of playful complaint.
“Gotta take finals, wrap up graduation stuff, and handle the enrollment stuff for next year,” Hannah said as she dropped into her seat.
This year, classes wrapped up early and now it was all about finals.
Zoe trailed after her, looking totally shocked. “Wait, you’re sorting all that out now? You’re not coming back then?”
Hannah said, “Yep.”
Zoe let out a dramatic whine. “So this is really goodbye? You’re just here to see me one last time? I’m never gonna see you again?” She started fake-crying, “Ugh, what am I supposed to do when I want to see you?”
Hannah gently pushed Zoe’s pouty face away. “Just pick one of the top schools for your college choices, who knows, we might still end up at the same place.”
Zoe immediately dropped the act. “Fine, I’d better start getting used to not having you around.”
With that, she turned around and sat up straight in her seat.
Hannah just stared, totally speechless.
Three minutes later.
“Boss, why don’t you give me something to remember you by? That way, whenever I miss you, I can look at it,” Zoe turned around, giving Hannah her most dramatic puppy eyes.
“Seriously, why are you guys always asking me for gifts? Do my things have some kind of magic or something?” she asked.
Speaking of gifts, Hannah was flat broke lately. With Interpol tracking her, she couldn’t even let Van take on jobs to bring in cash for her.
“Because if I don’t ask, you’d never give me anything!” Zoe shot back. “Wait, what did you mean by ‘you guys’? Who else is shameless enough to ask you for stuff?”
‘Oh, you have no idea. I’ve got a whole squad lining up for handouts,’ Hannah thought.
Just then, Hannah spotted a classic test prep book in her desk drawer, the kind everyone used for college
