The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 170

Chapter 170

Chapter 170

Hannah glanced out the window. Normally, the north wind would be howling at this hour, but tonight was unusually peaceful, not even a single snowflake drifting by. Where’s this blizzard she’s talking about?’ she wondered.

Could she be any more obvious with her lies? Hannah thought to herself.

“Grandma. Mr. Thole is way out of our league. He wouldn’t want to crash at our place, so don’t push it, you’ll just make things awkward for him,” Arthur said.

Arthur was warming up to Barnaby, but having him stay over tonight was still way too soon.

Honestly, they should at least wait until Hannah’s grown up.

Normally, with Arthur laying it out like that, Barnaby would just agree and let it go.

But Barnaby didn’t say a word. He just shot Arthur a sideways glance, then sauntered over to the wine rack, picked out a bottle of XO, poured himself a glass, and took a slow sip, every move oozing with that aristocratic vibe.

“Oh, right, I totally overlooked that. How could we possibly ask Mr. Thole to lower himself by staying here?” Aurelia suddenly realized, turning to Dorian. “Dorian, hurry and call the Deaxen Hotel, see if the presidential suite is available and reserve it for Mr. Thole.”

Dorian made the call right away. A moment later, he hung up and said it was all set.

Aurelia handed Hannah the room number and said, “Go ahead and escort Mr. Thole.”

“Okay,” Hannah agreed without a second thought. She went upstairs to fetch Barnaby’s medicine, then headed back down to the first floor. “I’m not coming home tonight.”

That was exactly what Aurelia had in mind. She smiled and said, “Make sure you keep Mr. Thole company.”

Arthur was speechless.

‘Hannah, can’t you at least play hard to get? You’re supposed to be the girl here, Arthur grumbled inwardly.

“Isn’t this basically the same as letting Barnaby crash at our place?’ he thought,

‘Great, now we’re out both the girl and the guest. Talk about a double loss,’ Arthur sighed to himself.

“Had a couple drinks, so calling a driver’s not really an option. Arthur, how about giving me a ride?” Barnaby said, setting down his glass, a devilish smirk tugging at his lips.

At that moment, Barnaby set down his glass and turned to Arthur, a devilish smirk playing at the corner of his mouth,

Arthur didn’t know what to say.

‘He’s so doing this on purpose!’ Arthur thought, totally exasperated.

“Is he always this shameless?” Arthur leaned over to Hannah and whispered.

Hannah glanced at Barnaby and said, “Totally.”

Arthur was speechless.

For the sake of those two pending investment deals, Arthur had to suck it up and personally drive them both to the Deaxen

Hotel.

On the way, Arthur pulled over for a bit, hopped out, and ducked into a pharmacy.

He was back in no time, got behind the wheel again, and drove them straight to the Deaxen Hotel.

Once they got out of the car, Arthur pulled Hannah aside.

“Are you really sure about this?” Arthur asked.

‘Huh?’ Hannah looked at him, puzzled.

“You’re all grown up now. No matter what you choose, I’ll always support you, but promise me you’ll take care of yourself.” Arthur said.

As he spoke, Arthur pulled out a small black pouch from his pocket and handed it to Hannah.

What the…?’ Hannah wondered.

She took it and felt a square box inside.

She opened it and stared. Black Durex condoms.

‘Did he seriously make a special trip to the pharmacy just to buy condoms?’ Hannah thought, utterly speechless.

“Arthur, you’ve totally got the wrong idea! I’m just here to give him his meds, that’s it,” Hannah said, shoving the box right back at him.

“Seriously?” Arthur gave her a suspicious look. “Why didn’t you just say so before? If it’s just about his meds, you could’ve handled it at home, no need for this whole hotel scene.”

‘Awesome, now it’s just the two of them, alone in a hotel room… Way to go, bro,’ Arthur grumbled to himself, feeling all kinds of awkward.

He trusted Hannah, sure, but when it came to Barnaby, Arthur wasn’t about to let his guard down.

“Our place just isn’t good enough for someone as important as Mr. Thole,” Hannah shot back, throwing his words right back at him.

“You’re making me look like I’ve got no brains here,” Arthur said.

“Grandma’s actually being generous for once, no reason to waste it,” Hannah grinned.

That’s what she said, but in reality, treating Barnaby at the Scott Villa wasn’t really an option.

His illness was always a closely guarded secret, and he couldn’t risk being disturbed during treatment.

Honestly, Skycrest House would’ve been the ideal spot, but the presidential suite at the top of the Deaxen Hotel came with a waterbed already in place, and that was exactly what Barnaby needed for his treatment.

‘Why do I feel like Barnaby’s totally corrupted Hannah?’ Arthur thought, feeling helpless.

“When it comes to those contracts, you and Dad should really take your time before signing anything. Don’t let my situation. put you in a tough spot,” Hannah said.

She honestly hadn’t expected Barnaby to show up tonight with investment contracts in hand. She’d skimmed through them, just a minor stake, no control, no say in how the company was run.

If an offer like this had landed in her lap before, Hannah would’ve shot it down without hesitation. Just like when Wolfram tried to invest in the Scott family, she’d turned him down flat and didn’t even mention it to the family.

But now, she was letting them make their own call.

“Alright, we will,” Arthur said, pressing the black pouch into Hannah’s hand. “Just hang onto this, okay? If you ever end up in a situation you can’t get out of, promise me you’ll protect yourself.”

Hannah didn’t know what to say.

She tried to give it back, but Arthur wouldn’t take it. He just got back behind the wheel. Over by the curb, Barnaby was already striding over, looking like he was done waiting.

Not wanting Barnaby to notice, Hannah just shoved the pouch into her coat pocket.

When they walked into the Deaxen Hotel, the manager was already waiting at the front desk, having heard Barnaby was coming. As soon as he saw them, he respectfully handed over the key card.

Barnaby took the key card and, with Hannah in tow, took the private elevator up to the presidential suite on the top floor.

As soon as the door clicked open, Barnaby turned to Hannah, a wicked grin tugging at his lips. “Baby, you sure you want to spend the night here with me?”

Hannah pushed the door open, casually grabbed the key card from his hand, and popped it into the power slot. The lights came on instantly.

“Just the two of us here, huh? That counts, doesn’t it? No need to wait till tomorrow, tonight’s just fine,” she said.

The room was toasty warm, so she shrugged off her coat and hung it on the rack by the door.

Just as she finished speaking, there was a sudden “plop” as a black box tumbled out of her coat pocket and landed right between them on the carpet.

On the front, in huge bold letters, it said: DUREX 001.

‘WTF?! Hannah was stunned.

She’d totally forgotten she still had that in her pocket!

‘Arthur, you’re totally screwing me over!’ Hannah cursed inwardly.

Barnaby’s eyes flickered with surprise for a moment, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed.

Then he looked up, his gaze hot and intense, locking onto Hannah like a predator stalking its prey, dangerously closing the distance between them.

Hannah could feel the heat of his gaze, her lips just starting to move, she was about to say something, but before she could get a word out, the door slammed shut.

Suddenly, she felt herself swept up, and the next thing she knew, she was dropped right onto the waterbed in the suite.

The waterbed was super soft and springy, Hannah barely had a chance to bounce before Barnaby’s weight pressed down, pinning her firmly to the mattress.

“You…” Hannah barely got the word out before Barnaby claimed her lips in a fierce kiss, cutting her off completely.

She tried to push him away, but he caught her wrists and pinned them above her head.

This kiss was nothing like the gentle ones before, it was raw, hungry, and so possessive it made Hannah’s head spin and stole her breath away.

‘Oh god, I can’t even think straight,’ she thought, dazed and breathless.

Barnaby finally let her go, his forehead resting against hers, eyes glazed and breathing uneven. “You know you’re breaking the rules, right?”

Hannah was still catching her breath, completely speechless.
