“Wow, you sure know how to sweet-talk. I bet you’ve flirted with a lot of girls before,” Hannah teased.

She pushed his hand away from her head. She didn’t like that gesture; it always made her feel like he was treating her like a

kid.

Barnaby reached back and took her hand. “I only do this for you.”

Hannah remembered how he’d been acting all charming with Zoe and the others at lunch. “You weren’t like this when you asked me to introduce you to my friends.”

Barnaby picked up on the jealousy in her tone and explained, “I was worried I’d come off too cold and your friends wouldn’t approve of us being together.”

With Hannah, if someone’s out shopping or grabbing food with her, it means they’re definitely more than just regular classmates.

“We’re not together,” Hannah corrected him.

“So, do you like me or not?” Barnaby locked his eyes on her.

Hannah didn’t know what to say.

“Hmm?” Seeing her go quiet, Barnaby leaned over the driver’s seat, lifted her chin, and gently brushed her lips with his thumb.

Barnaby’s slanted eyes glinted with danger, and for a second, Hannah felt like if she didn’t answer, he’d just lean in and kiss her.

Hannah met his deep, intense gaze. She didn’t bother hiding her feelings, her lips parted slightly as she whispered, “I like you.”

Barnaby’s eyes narrowed with a smoldering look, his Adam’s apple shifting as he spoke in a low, magnetic voice, “Suddenly, I don’t feel like going to your place anymore.”

“Then where do you want to go?” Hannah asked.

“Somewhere we can be alone,” Barnaby replied.

Inside the car, their breaths tangled together, the air between them growing thick with a teasing, electric tension.

Hannah’s lashes trembled as she answered, “Okay, but we need to stop by Scott Villa first to pick up your medicine. We can go tomorrow.”

Barnaby’s gaze burned hotter, the faint, fresh scent of her filling his senses, making his mouth go dry.

“You said yes so easily. Do you know what you’re agreeing to?” Barnaby asked, his voice low and rough.

Hannah met his eyes, her own calm and unwavering. “I know.”

Barnaby’s eyes lingered on her soft, rosy lips. Before he could stop himself, he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss on them.

Hannah was caught off guard for a moment as Barnaby brushed her lips with a feather-light kiss. Then, as if by magic, a heart-shaped necklace appeared in his palm.

Hannah’s heart skipped a beat as she picked up the necklace. It was a classic hollow heart, maybe a little cliché, but the canary-yellow diamonds covering it made it shimmer and look absolutely gorgeous.

“I spotted it at the counter and thought it was just right for you. Let me put it on,” Barnaby said.

He took the necklace, undid the clasp, and leaned in to fasten it around her neck.

Hannah could feel Barnaby’s breath brushing against her ear, and her heart skipped a beat, thumping wildly in her chest.

Once he finished, her gaze drifted to the canary-yellow diamond cufflinks on his sleeve. Suddenly, she realized Barnaby was sneakier than she thought, he really knew how to play the game.

‘Both of us are rocking canary diamonds. Might as well call it a couple set, huh?’ Hannah thought, unable to hide a little smile.

At Scott Villa.

Once word got out that Barnaby was coming back with Hannah, the whole villa sprang into action.

Felicity was in the kitchen, cooking up a storm, with Dorian helping out. Meanwhile, Aurelia was bossing Cici around, making sure Hannah’s room was spotless.

Only Arthur and Lucian were left in the living room, just sitting there, staring at each other, totally clueless.

“It’s up to you if Hannah stays here or not,” Arthur said.

“Why me?” Lucian asked.

“Because you’re the youngest and the cutest. Just fake being sick and turn on the puppy eyes, she’ll totally cave and stay,” Arthur grinned.

Lucian imagined what would happen if Hannah found out he was faking it, then shot back, “Why don’t you fake it? Why do I have to be the one?”

“I gotta keep an eye on Barnaby. No way I’m letting that guy crash here tonight,” Arthur replied.

‘As a guy myself, of course I know all these sneaky moves. Arthur thought to himself.

“Fine,” Lucian agreed. He didn’t like Barnaby either, every time that guy showed up, he always managed to whisk Hannah

away.

Then, as if something just hit him, Lucian insisted, “Listen, I’m not cute, I’m handsome, got it?”

“Yeah, yeah, you’re the handsomest. With our family genes, how could you not be?” Arthur teased.

Suddenly, a car pulled up outside.

Cici was helping Aurelia down the stairs, then headed out. Not long after, she came back in, all smiles. “Madam, Miss Hannah and Mr. Thole are back!”

Right on cue, Barnaby came in with both hands full of bags and packages, Hannah walking in beside him..

“Grandma, we’re back,” Barnaby said.

He slipped right into the role, acting like the grandson-in-law coming home.

Hannah shot him a warning look, telling him to quit with the nonsense.

Aurelia’s face lit up. “I’m just happy you’re here! You really didn’t have to go all out with these pricey gifts.”

She couldn’t take her eyes off the bags in Barnaby’s hands, every single one was top-shelf, straight from the luxury stores.

“Just a little something from Hannah and me,” Barnaby said.

Hannah was speechless.

“Man, you really know how to make yourself at home,” Arthur said, stepping up to grab the bags from Barnaby.

Barnaby kept dropping “we” and “Hannah and I” every chance he got, basically tying himself to Hannah like glue.

“Guess we’re all family now,” Barnaby chimed in.

Arthur just stared, lost for words.

I call him shameless, and he really goes all in!’ Arthur grumbled to himself.

If it weren’t for that favor he owed Barnaby from the company party, Arthur honestly wouldn’t bother showing him any

respect.

So, he shot Lucian a look, telling him to do his thing.

Lucian caught on, clutched his stomach, and was about to put on his best sick act, when Barnaby suddenly said, “That game console is for my little brother, Lucian.”

Lucian’s eyes went wide when he saw the packaging. ‘No way, that’s the global limited edition I’ve been dreaming about!”

Only ten existed worldwide, and one couldn’t just be bought, no matter how much money was offered.

“Thanks!” Lucian snatched the console from Arthur and hurried off to tear into the box, grinning from ear to ear.

Any plan he had? Gone in a flash.

Arthur just rolled his eyes. ‘Hopeless!’

“There’s also a draft investment contract from Ascent Ventures in there. You might want to take a look, Mr. Scott,” Barnaby added.

Arthur froze for a second, then dug through the gifts and pulled out a document. He opened it and saw two investment contracts inside.

One contract was for investing in “ChronoLink Group” and the other was a 30 million investment to bring Scott Group back to life.

Ascent Ventures would only take 30% of the shares, leaving 70% for the Scott family, and they’d even send their own experts to help get things up and running.

This was like a miracle falling right into their laps.

Dorian came out of the kitchen, saw the contracts, and was so moyed he nearly dropped to his knees in gratitude.

“Mr. Thole, you’re the one who brought Scott Group back from the dead! I swear, I’ll make sure the company thrives this time!” Dorian said, his voice shaking with excitement.

Arthur didn’t say yes right away, but he was clutching those contracts like his life depended on it.

There was no denying it, with these two investments from Ascent Ventures, the Scott family was about to level up their status in Brynlock, and soon they’d be mixing it up with the city’s top dogs.

Barnaby was really going all out, which meant he was dead serious about Hannah.

Arthur had no choice but to see Barnaby in a new light.

Just like that. Barnaby sealed the deal with the whole Scott family, two investment contracts and a limited-edition game console, and they were all on his side.

After dinner.

“The forecast says there’s a blizzard tonight. No need to head out, just crash here for the night. The rooms are all set,” Aurelia announced.

‘Did Grandma just invite Barnaby to stay over?’ Hannah thought, at a loss for words.

Arthur nearly choked on his coffee.

Lucian almost dropped his game console.

They knew Grandma had this plan all along, but they never thought she’d be so upfront about it.
