The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198

Chapter 198

After the holiday, things slowly got back to normal.

EX 55 Vour hors

With Evelyn’s blessing, Hannah registered the clinic under her title as the Miracle Healer, calling it the Miracle Healer Clinic, and started handling all the paperwork and preparations for the grand opening.

Evelyn had dedicated her life to traditional medicine, and back in the day, her reputation as the Miracle Healer was legendary.

If it hadn’t been for that incident with the Thole family that forced her to retreat into the mountains, she’d have opened her own clinic ages ago and become a true legend in the field.

Now, by using Evelyn’s name for the clinic, Hannah was not only helping Evelyn fulfill her long-lost dream, but also throwing down the gauntlet to the Thole family.

Sometimes, the safest place was right where the danger was.

If they kept hiding, the Thole family could easily make them disappear and no one would ever know. But at least now, by stepping into the light, the Thole family would have to hold back for the sake of their reputation.

A month later, the Miracle Healer Clinic officially opened its doors.

Hannah had always wanted to keep things low-key. This clinic wasn’t about grinding for cash, it was all about earning through skill, not sweat.

She didn’t want Evelyn to overwork herself, so she set a strict limit: only ten patients a day, and every spot had to be booked in advance.

But on opening day, the Miracle Healer Clinic was swarmed by the big shots, like Barnaby Thole, Benedict Croft, Percival Nox, the head of the Holt family, movie star Oliver Cruz, and international sensation Candy Foster.

The spectacle was so overwhelming that the Miracle Healer Clinic shot straight to the headlines.

At the Reese family estate, Mrs. Reese was scrolling through the news on her tablet, her reading glasses perched on her nose. “The miracle Healer is still alive?” she exclaimed in shock.

Mr. Reese was sipping the coffee Daisy had brought him when he heard the name. He nearly dropped his cup in surprise.

“What? Let me see that,” he demanded.

He sprang to his feet, but the cup slipped and smashed on the floor.

These cups were a gift from their eldest grandson, each one etched with a character, together they spelled out “longevity and good health.” The meaning was sweet, and Mrs. Reese treasured them like her own little lucky charms.

But now, with the “longevity” cup smashed to pieces, Mrs. Reese’s face instantly darkened. “Why are you getting so worked up? At your age, can’t you keep it together for once?”

Mr. Reese, clearly annoyed at being scolded in front of Daisy, grumbled in a low voice, “It’s just a set of cups. One broke, big deal. I’ll buy another. No need to make a scene.”

“Oh please, if you hadn’t gotten all flustered over hearing your old sweetheart’s name, that cup would still be in one piece,” Mrs. Reese shot back, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

“Old sweetheart, old sweetheart, how many years has it been since I’ve even seen her? Can you stop harping on about it

already?” Mr. Reese retorted, exasperated.

Secing her grandparents about to go at it again, Daisy quickly stepped in to calm things down. “Grandma, I’ll ask my brother to get you a brand new set of cups. Please don’t be mad, alright?”

Then she turned to Mr. Reese, gently coaxing, “Grandpa, maybe just take it easy. Grandma’s only upset because she really loved those cups.”

“Hmph,” Mr. Reese grumbled, waving his hand and turning to leave.

That only made Mrs. Reese even more furious. “Every time this comes up, you get all worked up! Fine, go ahead and walk out, see if I care if you ever come back!”

“It’s okay, Grandma. Grandpa just doesn’t want to argue with you,” Daisy said softly, trying to soothe her.

Then she glanced at the news article on the tablet, the photo showed a simple ribbon-cutting ceremony at the entrance of the Miracle Healer Clinic.

Daisy’s eyes landed on Hannah in the picture. “Is that her?” she blurted out.

She snatched the tablet and quickly read through the article, her mind racing. Miracle Healer Carter, Hannah Carter… both Carters. Are they related? Grandmother and granddaughter?’

“You know her?” Mrs. Reese asked, noticing Daisy’s reaction.

Daisy nodded. “I met her once. She said she was Barnaby’s secretary. He hasn’t been talking to me much lately, probably because of her…”

Mrs. Reese instantly caught on. She knew Daisy had a thing for Barnaby, and both the Reese and Thole families were hoping for a marriage alliance, they were just waiting for some sparks to fly between the two of them.

She took Daisy’s hand and comforted her, “Silly girl, if he’s not reaching out, then you should make the first move. If you just sit back, you’re basically handing that witch a golden opportunity to swoop in.

“Don’t worry. Her grandmother couldn’t steal your grandfather from me back then, and her granddaughter won’t be able to steal Barnaby from you now! Remember, you’re the Nameless Healer.”

Daisy’s lips parted, wanting to explain, but in the end, she just kept quiet.

‘It’s not like I haven’t tried reaching out to Barnaby,’ Daisy thought, feeling frustrated.

‘He’s the one shutting me out completely!’

He’d blocked her calls, ignored every WhatsApp message, and even when she made up an excuse to visit the Thole family estate, he wouldn’t even come out to see her.

“Oh, right, Daisy, where’s your Obsidian Pearl? When are you going to let Grandma have a look?” Mrs. Reese asked.

Daisy was caught off guard by the question and hesitated. “Uh…”

“That pearl is basically our family’s crown jewel. The Thole family’s been itching to get a peek too. When are you going to show it off and let everyone see just how far our medical skills go?” Mrs. Reese pressed.

Thinking fast, Daisy replied, “Grandma, it’s not that I don’t want to show you, but I’ve already used the Obsidian Pearl.”

“You used it to make that miracle drug?” Mrs. Reese asked. “I’ve seen tons of people online digging through your published papers, and they’re all guessing you used the Obsidian Pearl to make your medicine so powerful.”

Daisy just played along. “Yeah, that’s right.”

Just then, Marcus Thorne showed up with the very first batch of the miracle drug samples.

Mrs. Reese eyed the pills, each one packed in a sleek, clear glass bottle, and couldn’t help but gush over them.

“Excellent, excellent, excellent! Get these to the lab for testing right away and get them on the market as soon as possible. We can’t let the Miracle Healer steal the spotlight from the Reese family in Kinswood!”

Marcus nodded. “Yes, ma’am.”

Night had fallen over the Miracle Healer Clinic.

After seeing off all the guests, Hannah headed back inside and settled into the study in the west wing, testing out the new features of the clinic’s online app. Just then, a WhatsApp message popped up on her phone.

The Scepter House’s Master: [The Reese family’s first batch of miracle drugs is out. Have you set a date for the auction yet?]

Hannah had been so busy with the clinic during the day and leveling up her alt account at night that she honestly hadn’t had a second to spare for Daisy’s situation.

She pulled up her calendar to check, only to discover that the Scepter House was holding an auction the next evening.

The Nameless Healer: [Hey Master, up for something a little more exciting?]

The Scepter House’s Master: [?]

The Nameless Healer: [You must be bored of just looking at my pics by now, right?]

The Nameless Healer: [Tomorrow night, I’ll swing by Scepter House and show you the real me.]

Just as Barnaby stepped into the courtyard, he glanced at his phone and saw the chat. A smile tugged at his lips.

‘Is she finally going to reveal her true identity to me?’ he wondered.

The Scepter House’s Master: [Sounds good.]

In the study, Hannah got the reply just as she heard a noise out in the courtyard. She logged off WhatsApp and headed out, just in time to bump into Barnaby.

“Barnaby, are you free tomorrow night?” she asked, walking over.

Barnaby put his phone away. “What’s up?”

“There’s something I need to tell you,” Hannah said, coughing awkwardly. “Hey, do you remember those photos I asked you for earlier?”

Barnaby got a bad feeling about this. “And then?”

“I traded those photos for a rare medicinal ingredient. Now that person wants to meet you face to face. Will you come with me to meet him tomorrow night?” Hannah asked.

Barnaby didn’t know what to say.
