Chapter 231 Has Raven Shown Up Today?

Chapter 231 Has Raven Shown Up Today?

Hannah had just gotten started, and even if she rushed, it would still take her at least ten minutes to get things. done.

“I’ve already left the Scepter House. I’m at a coffee shop near the mall. Just come over,” she said and hung up immediately.

Her slender fingers danced across the keyboard, the rapid tapping catching the eye of a nearby teen. He couldn’t help but whip out his phone to record the scene.

Hannah remotely took control of Van’s computer, blazing through his old code in seconds. Then she dropped a virus on each hacker who’d tried to break into the site, putting an end to their invasion right then and there.

Just to be safe, she planted a little landmine in the company’s firewall, ready to catch anyone else who tried anything funny.

Once she was done, she fired off a message to Van.

[Quit focusing on your romance and work on your skills for once. At this rate, even my kid brother’s gonna out- code you.]

Piggy: [????]

Piggy: [Wait, your actual brother? When did he get into tech?]

Hannah glanced at the time. Fifteen minutes had already passed. Barnaby should be here by now, so she didn’ t bother replying.

She exited the remote control, and in the screen’s reflection, spotted the teen behind her filming with his phone. Her fingers flew over the keys again, unleashing another barrage of code.

The teen was so mesmerized by the code streaming across the screen that he didn’t even notice when his phone suddenly went dark.

“What the…?” the teen blinked in confusion.

After messing with his phone for a while, he realized it had randomly shut off. When he rebooted and checked his gallery, the video he’d just shot had vanished without a trace.

‘Shouldn’t it have saved automatically?’ he wondered.

But there was no sign of it, not even in his online drive or the recycle bin.

Suddenly, it clicked, Hannah must’ve messed with it! But by the time he figured it out, she’d already logged out, wiped her tracks, yanked out her USB drive, and was gone.

As Hannah stepped out of the internet café, about to head for the coffee shop next door, she suddenly heard a familiar voice call out to her.

“Baby,” came Barnaby’s voice.

She paused mid-step and turned around, catching sight of Barnaby striding over.

He was dressed in a tailored black suit, crisp white shirt, and a gray tie, briefcase in hand like he’d just come from closing a major deal. There was an undeniable air of exclusivity about him, making him seem distant and almost out of reach.

“Barnaby…” Hannah felt a pang of guilt suddenly hit her.

“What are you doing here?” Barnaby asked, glancing pointedly at the internet café behind her.

Hannah was just about to find an excuse when the teen from earlier suddenly came running out after her. “Hey, you were incredible! Can I add you on WhatsApp? I’m learning hacking too!” the teen said, holding up phone and looking at Hannah with anticipation.

He was only a little taller than Hannah, with a fresh, youthful face, looked like he was maybe fifteen or sixteen. Hannah didn’t expect the kid to actually chane after har and she notyously glanced at Barnaby.

Based on what she knew about Barnaby, he’d probably just think the kid was trying to hit on her and get her WhatsApp.

But instead, Barnaby looked genuinely interested and asked, “Oh? How good is she, exactly?”

“Uh…” the teen began.

“Just basic Python, really. You can find all that in any beginner’s guide,” Hannah jumped in before he could finish.

The teen stared, a bit stunned. Even though he was just a newbie, he knew for sure, what Hannah just did was way beyond beginner level. ‘No way that’s just textbook stuff, he thought.

“I have a boyfriend, so no flirting,” Hannah said, looping her arm through Barnaby’s and steering him away, deliberately playing it off as just some random pick-up attempt.

Barnaby lowered his gaze, watching the way she so confidently declared their relationship. His lips curled into a smile before he even realized it, and he gently took the hand she’d looped through his arm, holding it in his

own.

“No, I just wanted to…” the teen started to follow after them, trying to explain.

But Barnaby glanced back, his eyes icy cold. The teen instantly chickened out and just stood there, frozen on the spot.

Seeing the kid back off, Hannah was finally about to let herself relax inside when Barnaby’s deep, magnetic voice sounded above her.

“Were you in the internet café the whole time?” he asked.

“Yeah, I finished up what I needed to do. I wasn’t sure when you’d be free, so when I saw the internet café, I just popped in to brush up on some stuff I’d been studying,” Hannah said, her eyes dropping.

Then she suddenly remembered Barnaby once teased her about always dodging eye contact when she lied, so she deliberately looked up at him. “We’ve been out having fun these past few days, and I haven’t really studied, so I figured I should catch up, right?”

“You said you were at the coffee shop earlier?” Barnaby raised an eyebrow at her.

“The main entrance to the internet café is pretty hidden. I figured you might not find it, so I told you the coffee shop next door since it’s easier to spot,” Hannah explained.

“Oh…” Barnaby nodded, his tone unreadable. “Are you that eager to pick up hacking?”

Hannah could sense the vibe was off. She’d come here to test Barnaby, but somehow, he was the one turning

the tables on her.

“I just want to learn faster and get better than you, so I can sleep in the morning,” she said, dead serious.

‘Seriously, that’s not just an excuse!’ she thought.

‘I seriously just hate waking up early!’ she grumbled to herself.

Barnaby was speechless.

‘Gotta make sure she never finds out who I really am, he thought.

“So, what kind of partnership were you here for? Did it go through?” Hannah asked, quickly changing the subject while he was still quiet.

“Yeah, it went through. But it’s confidential, so I can’t really talk about it,” Barnaby replied.

Hannah wasn’t really interested in his business secrets anyway. She quickly shifted gears, her eyes lighting up as she said, “I’m hungry. Want to grab a bite? Are you familiar with this area, or know any good places to eat?”

“I don’t come here much myself, but my business partner just recommended a nice restaurant nearby. We could check it out,” Barnaby replied smoothly.

“Sounds good,” Hannah agreed.

Hand in hand, they headed over to the fine restaurant. Since it was pretty quiet at this hour, Barnaby booked

them a VIP room.

The VIP room had huge windows that looked right out onto the Scepter House across the street. The place looked seriously majestic.

“Ever wonder what kind of people work at the Scepter House?” Hannah stood by the window, then suddenly turned and asked.

Barnaby was scanning the menu. “No clue. Come over and pick something you like.”

Hannah watched him, completely at ease, not a hint of weakness showing. If she hadn’t seen that surveillance video from Ascent Ventures with her own eyes, she might have thought she was just imagining things.

But the more unreadable he was, the more her fingers itched to crack his secret.

The urge to expose his real self was getting stronger, but she knew she couldn’t rush it, just like those tricky math problems, stubborn medical puzzles, or firewalls she loved to break through. One step at a time.

“You know what I like,” Hannah said, propping her chin on her hands and gazing at him.

Her eyes danced with laughter, clear as spring water. Barnaby’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his dark eyes growing more intense.

“When you look at me like that, I just can’t help myself,” he said, getting up and leaning across the table to kiss her.

Just then, the waiter knocked and entered with the water. He immediately walked in on their intimate moment and got an eyeful. Beating a hasty retreat, he waited a discreet minute before knocking again.

While the waiter was pouring water, Barnaby picked up his phone and checked the WhatsApp group chat for any new replies.

[Did anyone catch Raven logging in today?]

He’d sent that message to the group ten minutes ago.

Scorpio: [Nope.]

Taurus: [Nothing on my end either.]

Virgo: [Negative.]
