The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 24

Chapter 24

The next day, Hannah changed into the Cavalor school uniform.

Tall and poised, she wore the standard light gray uniform like it was high fashion.

Beneath the pleated skirt were her long, straight, and strikingly sexy legs. Hannah’s presence easily outshone Susie’s standing next to her.

They rode together to school in the same car. After getting out, Susie subtly distanced herself, not wanting to be just a backdrop for Hannah.

But Susie hadn’t taken many steps before both of them saw a large banner stretched across the school gate.

It read: [Congratulations to Hannah Carter, the second daughter of the Scott family, for scoring full marks in all four subjects.]

Several women in uniforms stood by the gate, smiling as they handed small gifts to each arriving student.

“To celebrate Hannah’s perfect scores, the cafeteria is free today; it’s on the Scott family,” said the woman leading them, none other than Cici, the Scott family’s maid.

Hannah internally rolled her eyes. ‘This kind of flashy, tacky display is exactly what nouveau riche behavior looks like,’ she wondered.

Surprisingly, Susie felt no jealousy at Dorian’s ostentatious bragging. Instead, she felt a bit pleased.

She walked back up to Hannah and, adopting a tone of seasoned experience, said, “This is your first time seeing something like this, right?

“Later, Dad will have you give a speech in front of the reporters. You should think about what to say now; don’t freeze up and stumble when the time comes.”

Every year on Susie’s birthday, the Scott family threw a big party, so she was totally comfortable with scenes like this.

As for Hannah, having grown up in the slums, she’d probably met fewer people than anyone in Cavalor’s grade. She would surely get stage fright and embarrass herself.

“If you don’t know what to say, you can try this,” Susie began, then suddenly noticed Hannah wasn’t listening at all.

Hannah was already heading toward the teacher’s building.

Susie hurried after her and grabbed her arm. “Don’t wander off. This is school, not the slums. You can’t just roam anywhere you want.”

Susie’s voice was loud enough to draw the attention and laughter of passing students.

“What a clueless girl.”

“Even if she got into our school, so what? She’ll never fit in. She can’t change who she really is.”

They laughed.

Susie smirked inside.

This was exactly the effect she wanted.

“Don’t touch me. Where I go is none of your business.” Hannah snapped, yanking her arm free.

“Don’t run off. If you get lost or late, it’ll mess up Dad’s plans,” Susie said, feigning innocence.

Her pitiful act made it seem like Hannah was bullying her in the eyes of others.

“Hannah sure has a temper. She really thinks she’s the Scott family heiress.”

“Even if she’s pretty and got perfect scores, her rude attitude is hard to like.”

“She’s a girl from the slums. Even if the Scott family took her in, she’ll never shed that low-class vibe. She can’t be an heiress.”

Hannah looked coldly at the gossiping girls and said, “Sure, a foster daughter is still a foster daughter, not an heiress.

“A street rat is a street rat. Even if she’s gilded at Cavalor, her nature won’t change.”

Susie’s face briefly paled.

Hannah was mocking her by implying she was the real foster daughter.

The gossiping girls had thought Hannah was admitting it at first, but the second half of her sentence insulted them instead.

They immediately realized they’d just shot themselves in the foot.

Hannah ignored them and headed straight to Jett’s office.

“What? You want to go to Class 11? Isn’t Class 1 better?” Jett was shocked when he heard Hannah’s request.

‘Who would willingly choose a lower-tier class over the honors class?’ he thought. ‘Even top students don’t act this way. Besides, Dorian invited reporters today to cover Hannah entering Class 1.

“There’s no reason. Just assign it for me. Also, arrange a dorm room. I want to live on campus.” Hannah said. coldly, then turned and left.

Her expression was unreadable, her gaze icy and detached, exuding pure aloofness.

In the open classroom, Dorian and the school’s PR department were hosting reporters, waiting for Hannah to arrive for the interview. But only Susie showed up.

Dorian pulled her aside and asked, “Where’s Hannah? Why didn’t you bring her along?”

Susie shrugged, feigning innocence. “She probably got stage fright. On the way here, she refused to come no matter what. I don’t even know where she went. I couldn’t get her to stay.”

Her failure at such a critical moment instantly sparked Dorian’s anger.

“Coming from the slums means she can’t hold her own on stage. Forget it. Cancel the interview with her. We don’t need her fumbling around and embarrassing the Scott family,” he muttered under his breath.

Susie caught the anger in his voice and let a faint, barely noticeable smile tug at her lips. “No, Dad. If she doesn’t show up, the credibility of the news will be questionable.

“Since she won’t come here, we can take the reporters to her classroom. She probably went back there.”

Dorian thought it over and agreed; it made sense. So, he asked the reporters to follow Susie to Sophomore

Class 1.

Susie led the way, deliberately taking a longer route.

As Susie had predicted, the reporters found a crowd gathered around the school bulletin board, buzzing with talk about the genius, cheating, and shameless behavior.

Reporters have a keen nose for gossip. Just seeing those keywords was enough to signal a story.

Leaning in for a closer look, they indeed stumbled upon big news.

“You’re Hannah’s family, right? How dare the cheating dog show off like this? Get out of Cavalor.” Some students recognized Dorian and the group of reporters and started throwing insults.

“What genius? She’s a total cheat.”

“I really thought she was a genius, but turns out she’s just a fraud trying to get attention.”

“This is going way too far. She copied Owen’s problem-solving methods, and now even the essay is plagiarized.”

“Madam, cheating like this disgraces the school. Kick Hannah out of Cavalor.”

The students’ voices mingled into a chaotic chorus of accusations. Dorian was baffled, utterly clueless.

The teachers from the PR department who had come along looked equally stunned.

When they reached the bulletin board and saw the papers posted, Dorian felt like a thunderbolt had struck him; he froze on the spot.

His face darkened like soot, a sharp contrast to the excited reporters snapping photos beside him.

The bulletin board displayed two test papers. The answers were suspiciously similar, and even the essays appeared to be nearly copy-pasted.

The names on the tests were Hannah and Owen.

Owen Croft was the son of Wolfram, the principal of Cavalor School, and also a top student at Cavalor International School.

Cheating was bad enough, but Hannah had copied the principal’s son.

“Stop taking pictures,” was Dorian’s first instinct, wanting to cover the tests, but the entire board was plastered with papers; there was no way to hide them.
