The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Dorian had mortgaged the family villa to the bank and took out a loan to throw this party, inviting a swarm of reporters to flaunt the Scott family’s prestige and attract potential partners.

Now, everything was ruined.

The reporters didn’t care about preserving the Scott family’s dignity. They gleefully snapped photos of the

test papers.

“At first, I thought today’s news was a bit dull. Now, there’s plenty to write about.”

“A slum kid pretending to be a genius, trying to ride on a top student’s coattails? That headline’s definitely going viral.”

“And it involves one of the Big Four families, the Croft family. This will trend for sure. Our KPIs this month. are safe.”

The reporters all cracked up.

Dorian listened to their brazen chatter, his vision darkening. ‘It’s over. The Scott family is finished,’ he wondered.

The joy he felt yesterday over Hannah’s perfect scores was now replaced with deep regret.

‘Cheating and plagiarism, and it’s all been exposed publicly.

“The shame is beyond words. On top of that, the Scott family villa is mortgaged, and we’ve offended the Croft family.

‘If I’d known, I’d have preferred Hannah just skip the exams altogether,’ he thought bitterly.

“Mr. Scott, are you alright?” A staff member from the publicity office steadied Dorian, who looked like he might faint.

At that moment, Hannah returned from the teacher’s building. Susie spotted her immediately.

“Dad, Hannah’s over there,” Susie reminded him.

Dorian glared and shouted, “Hannah, get over here.”

The staff frowned at his loud voice. ‘He sounds angry, but at least he’s not fainted,’ they thought.

Hannah heard her name but saw a crowd gathered and didn’t bother responding. She started to walk around

them.

But Susie wouldn’t let her go; she ran over and grabbed her. “Your cheating test papers have been posted.”

‘Cheating?’ she wondered.

Hannah frowned beautifully, unsure what scheme Susie was up to, and reluctantly followed her.

“You ungrateful brat. Who gave you the nerve to cheat? Bow and admit your guilt right now.” With a sharp motion, Dorian raised his hand and slapped Hannah hard.

The onlookers gasped in shock; no one expected Dorian to be so harsh.

But before his palm landed, a hand caught his wrist.

“Who said I cheated?” Hannah looked coldly at Dorian.

“Hannah, you’d better bow and apologize to everyone. I gave you Owen’s test paper just for review. How did you end up copying all his answers?” a voice sounded.

Susie sounded anxious, pretending to defend Hannah, but her words only confirmed the cheating accusation.

‘How did Hannah plagiarize? Susie kindly gave her Owen’s review test, and she copied it word for word, the crowd thought.

“Hannah cheats and acts arrogant without admitting it. Disgusting.”

“Cheaters deserve to die.”

“I thought a genius had appeared, but turns out it’s just a cheating loser.”

“Don’t even compare her to a genius. That insults the word ‘genius.”

“Cheater, get out of Cavalor.”

“Filthy slum rat trying to frame Owen. It’s obviously premeditated.”

The insults poured in relentlessly. Hannah let go of Dorian’s hand, stared coldly at the posted test papers.

Next to the papers was a notice condemning Hannah’s vile cheating during the entrance exam.

The notice was unsigned, clearly not issued by the school.

‘Cheating? Who really cheated is still up in the air,’ she sneered.

“Who’s Owen?” Hannah turned and asked, her expression frosty, showing no remorse.

Dorian’s fury deepened.

He deeply regretted his impulsive decision yesterday to throw this party.

“You still defend your cheating? Apologize right now,” he roared, raising his hand again to strike Hannah.

“Mr. Scott, please communicate civilly. No violence.” A staffer from the publicity office quickly stepped between them, then turned to Hannah. “Hannah, what’s really going on? Are you going to explain this to everyone?”

They had hoped Cavalor had finally produced a perfect-score genius in decades. But instead, Hannah was a cheat.

A genius turned failure, yet every teacher who graded her papers had missed the plagiarism, resulting in this huge fiasco.

Not only was the Scott family embarrassed, but the school was even more humiliated.

So Hannah had to explain herself clearly; this was about the school’s reputation.

She noticed everyone staring at her, yet no one answered when she asked who Owen was. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

What frustrated her even more was that Dorian didn’t even ask any questions before accusing her of cheating outright.

“Who did this?” a sharp male voice rang out angrily from the back of the crowd.

The onlookers parted to make way, and a few girls squealed, “Owen’s here.”

A boy with strikingly handsome features and long legs strode forward. His thick brows furrowed, and his expression showed impatience.

The moment Dorian saw Owen, he quickly stepped up and greeted him with a respectful nod and a slight

bow.

Whether the party was ruined or not didn’t matter, but they absolutely couldn’t sour relations with the Croft family.

“Owen, you finally showed up. She used your test paper to cheat, disgracing the school’s reputation. You have to get her expelled from Cavalor,” a student pointed at Hannah and said.

Owen glanced at the tall, delicate-featured girl with smooth skin. A flicker of surprise flashed in his irritated

eyes.

He’d heard about this slum girl scoring full marks in all four subjects, stealing his top student spotlight.

His father had told him to get to know her, but Owen was reluctant, convinced a girl from the slums would be tacky and unattractive.

He hadn’t expected Hannah to be so pretty.

But no matter how pretty, she was just a pretty face.

When Owen arrived at the school gate, students had already told him that Hannah had plagiarized his test paper, which had been posted on the bulletin board.

That was why he hurried over. Some of those test papers were better left unseen.

“So you’re Owen?” Hannah glanced at the boy coolly.

Owen nodded, pride and disclain etched on his face.

Hannah looked at the rest on the bulletin board and asked, “Did you actually do this paper yourself?”

Her question annoyed the other students immediately,

“What kind of question is that? If Owen didn’t do it, did you?”

“Owen’s always been Cavalor’s top scholar. You cheated and won’t admit it”

Owen said nothing. Instead, he moved to the bulletin board and scrutinized Hannah’s test paper,

The problem-solving methods and essay were nearly identical, though the handwriting, was different.

It looked like he’d been overthinking it. Angry, he tore all the papers down and asked Hannah sharply, “Where did you get this test paper?”

When he saw Owen so upset, Dorian’s confidence in Hannah’s cheating only grew stronger. He was regretting everything.

Hannah hadn’t just disgraced the Scott family; she’d angered the Croft family, too,

“Owen, I’m sorry, It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have shown Hannah the test papers you lent me

“I never imagined she’d do this,” Susie apologized with red eyes, looking, pitiful and remorseful.

“Susic, this isn’t your fault. You don’t need to apologize for her,” Owen reassured her, then turned back to Hannah.

“Don’t you have any shame? Are you really so eager to let the entire school know about your cheating exploits?” he added.
