Chapter 255 He’s Shadow!
Chapter 255 He’s Shadow!
Hannah headed toward the entrance, brushing past Howard and Dustin. She glanced over and saw them chasing after Oliver’s van, a mocking smile tugging at her lips.
She turned back, striding confidently in her high heels, her presence drawing the attention of the crowd of reporters and media gathered outside.
‘Even the Nameless Healer is here for Raven?’ the reporters wondered, excitement bubbling up inside them.
They were dying to rush over and interview her, but with security keeping everyone in line, there was no way they could get close.
“May I see your invitation?” the security guard at the entrance asked, stepping in front of Hannah.
Just as Hannah was about to pull her invitation from her purse, a little boy in a suit suddenly came running out from the lobby.
“She’s my sister!” Lucian shouted.
He’d been stationed at the front desk, carefully watching every quest who arrived, hoping to spot Raven. He never expected to see Hannah walk in.
‘She must be here to become Shadow’s mentee too!’ Lucian guessed.
‘Good thing I was sharp enough to stick with her. Otherwise, she’d be pulling off some trick to get ahead again!’ Lucian thought to himself.
Since there weren’t many kids at the party and Lucian had been at the front desk all this time, the security guard recognized him. So before Hannah could even show her invitation, they were let in.
What they didn’t realize was that, scattered throughout the building, dozens of people were watching everything at the entrance through the security cameras.
These were all among the world’s top 100 hackers. Hacking into the security system was a walk in the park for them. They weren’t doing anything wild, just adjusting the cameras to get a clear view of the invitations at the door. The Xenith Systems Group pretty much turned a blind eye, silently letting it happen.
Everyone was on the hunt for Raven, each relying on their own skills. Of course, plenty of hackers were really after the heavyweights, Shadow and Vulcan. Tracking down Raven was just a side quest for them.
Inside the lobby.
“What are you doing here?” Hannah asked.
Lucian gave her a look, like, ‘Don’t think you can pull one over on me. I’ve already figured you out.’ He said, “Same as you.”
Hannah shot him a sidelong glance. “Really? You think you know what I’m here for?”
“Come on, isn’t it obvious? You’re here to become Shadow’s mentee and get some OP skills!” Lucian said.
Hannah was speechless.
‘Sometimes I wish I could peek inside this kid’s head and see what kind of crazy stuff he’s imagining all day, Hannah thought.
“Go on up and find Dad and Arthur. I’ll hang back for a bit,” Lucian said, waving Hannah off as he saw more people coming
“Who are you waiting for?” Hannah asked without thinking.
Lucian gave her a mysterious grin and said, “I’m waiting for my mentor.”
“When did you decide to take a mentor? And did you finish all those books I gave you?” Hannah asked, surprised.
Lucian kept his eyes locked on the entrance. “Still reading. No reason I can’t do both, study and find a mentor. Once I spot him, I’ll swear myself in as his mentee right on the spot.”
“Alright, take your time,” Hannah said, heading toward the elevator, she still had things to do. But just as she was about to leave, Lucian suddenly called out to her.
“Wait, what holiday is it today?” Lucian asked.
Hannah caught those big puppy eyes looking up at her, full of hope. She dug out two chocolate candies from her purse, left over from this morning, and handed them to him.
“It’s Children’s Day. For the little brats,” Hannah teased.
Lucian looked totally unimpressed, but his hands didn’t lie, he grabbed the candy, ripped one open, and stuffed it in his mouth. ‘Man, that’s sweet, he thought.

The receptionist saw the whole thing and was floored. ‘Way to be a hypocrite, kid!’ she thought.
‘Weren’t you just refusing candy, saying you’re eight and way too old for Children’s Day?’ she wondered.
The third anniversary bash was happening in the banquet hall a the very top of the building. The air was electric, packed with VIPs and power players from all walks of life, everyone mingling and raising their glasses.
As soon as Hannah stepped out of the elevator, she caught sight of someone she recognized standing at the entrance to the hall.
He was rocking a white suit, his short curls had grown out since last time and were now half pulled back.
His skin, which used to be almost porcelain, now sported a sun-kissed glow, adding a touch of ruggedness to his usual pretty-boy vibe, he looked way more masculine now.
Spencer saw her too. He set his drink aside and strode over.
“Hey, baby, long time no see,” he said with a grin.
Ever since they’d added each other on WhatsApp, Hannah hadn’t seen him at all. And now, with summer not even here yet, he was already so tanned. She blurted out, “Did you just come back from Athuria or what?”
Spencer paused. “How’d you know?”
‘Hannah was at a loss for words.’
‘Wait, he really did go to Athuria?’ she thought.
“Let’s find somewhere to talk,” Spencer said, nodding toward a nearby hallway.
Hannah was in a rush to find Vulcan and didn’t want to waste time. “What do you want? Just spit it out.”
Spencer clicked his tongue in annoyance. “Are you always this cold?”
“If this is just some boring stuff, save it for another day. I’m busy” Hannah said, giving him a frosty look.
Spencer muttered, “Seriously, you really are cold,” then asked, “So, what brings you here?”
“That’s none of your business,” Hannah replied coolly, sidestepping him and getting ready to leave. But Spencer lowered his voice and said, “Weren’t you dying to meet me?”
Hannah stopped in her tracks and turned back, staring at him in surprise. “You’re…”
‘Hold up, is he Vulcan?’ Hannah thought, her mind racing.
‘But isn’t Vulcan the Master of the Scepter House?’ she wondered.
She’d tested him before, and he definitely wasn’t the Master of the Scepter House.
Spencer flashed her a cryptic smile and headed down the hallway. Hannah, her guard up and suspicion clouding her mind, followed after him.
Spencer swiped his phone to unlock an office door, then gestured for Hannah to step inside.
She saw it was a code hack that opened the door. Hannah didn’t hesitate and walked right in.
The office was small and empty.
Hannah checked her phone, but still no reply from the Scepter House’s Master. She quickly sent a question mark as a follow-up, then looked back at Spencer.
He didn’t react, just stepped inside and shut the door behind him with a quick motion.
“You really never learn, do you, Raven?” Spencer said, his tone turning sharp as he called her out by name, all traces of playfulness gone.
Hannah frowned, her eyes locked on him. “What do you mean by that?”
Spencer raised an eyebrow. “Your account’s still banned, and you’re already trying to make waves again?”
Hannah’s eyes widened in shock.
“Wait, you’re Shadow?!” Hannah gasped, totally floored.
Spencer gave a knowing nod, all mysterious and serious. “I put you on a six-month ban so you could keep your head down, but look at you, waltzing in when everyone’s out here trying to siff out Raven! You’ve got some nerve.”
‘No way… He really is Shadow!’ Hannah’s thoughts were in chaq
She stood there getting chewed out, but honestly, she didn’t feel guilty at all. Her eyes were glued to Spencer’s face, so smooth and perfect, almost too pretty to be real, with those wild curls.
‘How is this guy my legendary mentor? My brain can’t handle this, she thought, emotions all tangled up.
‘I always thought Shadow would be some wrinkly, bald old guy with a laundry list of health issues!’ Hannah’s mind was

Spencer tried to play the strict mentor, scolding Hannah, but she didn’t look the least bit sorry. Instead, she was giving him this odd, almost incredulous look.
He couldn’t keep up the serious act for more than three seconds before flashing a cocky grin. “So, what do even cooler than you thought your mentor would be?”
Hannah nodded. “Yep, you’ve got all your limbs, your hair’s still there, and your skin’s smooth, too”
Spencer’s mouth twitched. “So, let me get this straight, you pictured me as some old, bald, crippled dude?”
