The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 270

Chapter 2701 Object To Your Breakup

Chapter 270 | Object To Your Breakup

Hannah told her grandmother and the others to rest in the west wing’s living room, then headed to the clinic to finish seeing the last two patients of the afternoon.

After the nurse escorted out the final patient, Hannah closed the clinic door and was entering the patient’s medical records into the computer. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, and someone stepped inside.

‘I’m done seeing patients today. No more walk-ins…” Hannah started, but her words trailed off as she looked up and saw Spencer propped casually against the doorway, a playful smile on his face.

“No more just saying thanks,” Spencer said, glancing at his watch. “It’s almost dinner time, how about you treat your mentor to a meal? And since I helped you out last night too, you owe me two, dinner first, then we hit the bar.”

Just as Hannah was about to reply, Spencer grinned and added. “You’re allergic to alcohol, so you can skip the drinks. Just sit back and watch me handle them.”

With him putting it that way, Hannah really couldn’t say no. Plus she had something she wanted to talk to him about.” Alright, but not tonight. My whole family’s over. Let’s do it another time.”

“Tch, fine, Spencer muttered, sounding a bit put out. Then something occurred to him. “Oh, and take me off Do Not Disturb on your phone, I want to be able to text you whenever.”

Hannah gave him a surprised side-eye. “You used to ignore my texts all the time. Did you set my number to Do Not Disturb or something?”

‘Otherwise, how would he be so familiar with this? He actually knew I put him on Do Not Disturb, she thought, a bit incredulous.

Spencer coughed awkwardly, refusing to admit anything. “Who said that? Your mentor is a busy man, I don’t have time to answer all your silly questions every day.”

Hannah raised an eyebrow at him, clearly not convinced.

In the end, under Spencer’s watchful gaze, Hannah took his number off Do Not Disturb. Only then did Spencer finally leave, looking quite pleased with himself.

Hannah checked her messages and saw Barnaby’s contact, still just that voice note he’d sent at 3AM.

‘Seriously? He thinks he can chase after someone like this? Ever a dog wouldn’t give him the time of day, Hannah thought, rolling her eyes.

Meanwhile, in the west wing’s living room, the whole family was sitting around, chatting and catching up.

Evelyn and Felicity were finally starting to relax, and once Christopher finished his “supervising” job, he came in too.

He ditched his usual rebellious vibe and sat down on the couch all polite and well-behaved, greeting everyone with a smile.

“Christopher, thanks for earlier, Aurelia said, recognizing him right away. After all, he’d made a name for himself all over Kinswood, when he dumped a whole pot of dog poop on Daisy, locking in his reputation as the notorious playboy of the

elite.

To Aurelia, whether he was a good guy or not didn’t matter. What mattered was that he was Christopher from the powerful Todd family, one of the top ten wealthy clans in Kinswood. Sure, they might be ranked last, but they’re loaded.

What does high society really care about? Connections.

Hannah had only just arrived in Kinswood, but she’d already managed to get in with the city’s elite. Aurelia thought, ‘With ties like these, her future’s looking seriously promising!’

“Grandma, no need to thank me. I was just doing what I should. m Hannah’s… guy friend, Christopher said with a cheeky

grin.

He almost blurted out “boyfriend,” but Joe coughed meaningfully from the side, making Christopher switch gears mid-

sentence.

Aurelia nodded in satisfaction. “Great, great, great! You should join us for dinner later!”

Christopher’s eyes lit up. ‘If I can get on Hannah’s family’s good side, then the day she becomes my wife is just around the corner, he thought.

He was about to agree when Joe put a hand or tonight?”

topher, didn’t you have a game scheduled

Christopher shot Joe a cold glare, practically gritting his teeth. We rescheduled!”

“When did that happen? How come I didn’t hear about it?” Joe asked, looking genuinely confused.

To make sure he did a good job on the task Barnaby had given him, Joe had really put in the effort.

He’d heard Christopher was into basketball, so every time Christopher came to the clinic to see Hannah, Joe would invite him to shoot some hoops at the nearby court.

Turned out, they made a pretty good team on the court. They even joined up with Christopher’s buddies to form a squad, and every now and then, they’d take on other teams for a match

Christopher shot back, “Just now!”

“Oh, gotcha,” Joe replied, scratching his head and flashing a toothy smile. “Guess I’ll bail on the game too. Mind if I mooch dinner with you guys?”

Christopher gritted his teeth, barely holding himself back from punching Joe right there in front of the Scott family. “Get lost!”

“You two sure seem tight,” Arthur teased with a sly grin.

“Yeah, like a couple of comrades-in-arms,” Lucian added, nodding with a smirk.

Christopher and Joe both froze, instantly flashing back to that embarrassing moment last time. They jumped apart like they’d been shocked, blurting out in unison, “Who’s close with him?!”

‘Seriously, he’s always the one bugging me first!’ Christopher grumbled to himself.

‘If it weren’t for Barnaby’s orders, no way I’d waste my time on him!’ Joe thought, rolling his eyes.

Just then, Hannah walked in, and Dorian stepped forward. “Hannah, are you done with work? I’ve booked a private room at Imperial Hotel for dinner tonight.”

Hannah’s brows furrowed a little at the name. ‘Is he doing this on purpose or what? Of all the places, he just had to pick this one?’ she wondered.

But then it hit her, Dorian loves showing off and keeping up appearances. If they’re eating out in Kinswood, of course he’d pick the hottest spot in town, Imperial Hotel.

“Alright, let’s go,” Hannah said with a nod.

The food at Imperial Hotel was seriously next-level, no way she’d say no to that kind of feast. Plus, Barnaby was out of town, so there was zero chance of running into him.

Just before they headed out, Aurelia’s question pretty much confirmed what Hannah was thinking.

“When is Barnaby coming back? Shouldn’t we wait for him to join us?” Aurelia asked.

“He’s busy. No need to call him,” Hannah tossed out casually.

“What about tomorrow or the day after? No matter how busy hes, he still has to eat, right?” Aurelia pressed, not giving up.

Hannah, clearly getting irritated, said, “Seriously, stop asking about him. Me and Barnaby? We’re done.”

“What?!” The whole room went silent in shock.

Evelyn thought, ‘You two really broke up?’

Aurelia thought, ‘How could you dump Barnaby like that!’

Dorian thought, ‘Just like that, Mr. Perfect is off the table?’

Felicity thought, ‘Is Hannah gonna be sad about this?’

Lucian thought, ‘My sister’s way too awesome for Barnaby, he’s not even in her league!’

Arthur thought, ‘Finalk, my little sis ditched that old guy Barnaby

Christopher’s eyes lit up. ‘They broke up? Does that mean I’ve got a shot now?’

Joe blinked, totally caught off guard. ‘Wait, what?’

“Good thing we didn’t take that investment from Ascent Ventures and went with Xenith Systems Group instead. Otherwise, running into Barnaby would’ve been so awkward,” Arthur commented.

‘Wait, Xenith Systems Group is Barnaby’s company…’ Hannah thought, feeling a bit helpless.

“Barnaby’s got money, power, and looks, he’s one in a million! You’d need a flashlight to find another guy like him, and even then, good luck!

“How could you let him go?” Aurelia plopped down in her chair, totally worked up. “No way, I don’t approve of this breakup! Get him over here and patch things up right now, or I’m not going to dinner!”

Hannah could only stare, completely speechless.

“Mom, please don’t make things harder for Hannah,” Felicity said in a low voice. “This is her own relationship…”

Aurelia turned away, stubborn as ever. “I don’t care! If those two don’t make up tonight, I’m skipping dinner. Just let me starve!”

“Fine, stay here then. Let’s go, Hannah said, turning to leave.

Lucian immediately fell in step behind her, with Arthur and Evelyn following close behind. Felicity hesitated for a moment, then tugged at Dorian’s sleeve and joined the group.

Aurelia listened as the footsteps faded one by one, and when she turned around, she realized she was the only one left in the living room, except for Hedy that poked its head out of the study.

Hedy glanced around, then scampered off after the others, leaving her all alone.

Aurelia was left speechless, her jaw practically hitting the floor.

Seriously? Not a single soul is on my side?’ Aurelia grumbled to herself, feeling totally abandoned.

I’m just trying to ship these two for the Scott family’s future, and you all just leave me hanging! Not one of you is backing me up! she fumed, half exasperated, half sulking.
