The Real Heiress Is Coming Back (Hannah Carter) novel Chapter 313

Chapter 312 Chased For Debts

Chloe walked away from Ms. Carter’s clinic in the pouring rain, completely lost and unsure of what to do next. She was heading toward the Medicinal Restaurant when suddenly, a hand reached out from behind and clamped over her mouth. Before she could even struggle, a sack was thrown over her head, and a sharp pain shot through the back of her neck Everything went black, and she passed out.

Half an hour later.

Chloe was jolted awake when someone splashed a bucket of ice-cold water on her face. She realized she was in a shabby, rundown room, surrounded by a group of rough-looking guys glaring at her.

Her face went from pale to ashen as she huddled in the corner, watching them in terror.

“Chloe, you know why we grabbed you, right?” the one-eyed thug said, running his thumb along the blade of the bone- crushing knife in his right hand.

Chloe stared at the massive knife, swallowed nervously, and begged, “Guys, can you give me a few more days? As soon as I sell that batch of herbs, I’ll pay you back, I promise.”

Yeah, the deposit she used to buy those herbs was borrowed from loan sharks.

“You’re three days past due! Can’t pay up? You know our rules! the one-eyed thug snarled, slamming the big knife down on the table with a menacing thud.

At that moment, another guy grabbed Chloe, yanking out her right hand and holding it tight.

“Ahhh-!” Chloe wailed in terror, scared out of her mind they’d chop off her hand. She clenched her fist desperately, refusing to let go.

The guy lost it and slapped her hard across the face. “Still got the guts to scream? Can’t pay your debt and you still wanna make noise?”

Chloe hit the floor, her left cheek swelling up instantly, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

She clutched her swollen cheek, kneeling on the floor in misery. Please, just give me three more days. I promise I’ll pay you

back.”

“And what if you don’t?” the one-eyed thug sneered, his voice cold and threatening.

Chloe blurted out desperately, “I can definitely pay! I’ve got four kinds of herbs the Nameless Healer is paying twenty times the market price for. As soon as she buys them, I’ll have the cash.”

The one-eyed thug had heard rumors about the Nameless Healer’s crazy herb buying, but didn’t know the real story. He spat on the ground. “If you don’t pay up in three days, you’re finished!”

With that, the men strutted out of the room without a second glance.

Chloe dragged herself up and noticed a wet spot under her. Shed pissed herself from sheer terror.

But she couldn’t care less. She didn’t dare stick around for even a second and bolted back to the Medicinal Restaurant, looking like hell.

Just as she was about to open the door, a bunch of people suddenly closed in on her from behind. After the scare she’d just had, Chloe’s first reaction was to run for her life.

But she didn’t get far before someone caught up and yanked her hair.

“Chloe, what are you running for? You still haven’t paid us! When are you gonna cough up the rest of the money?” one of the creditors shouted.

“Don’t even think about skipping out! We’ve got a contract!” another one yelled.

“If you don’t pay up, don’t blame us for dragging you to court!” a third one threatened.

Chloe screamed, completely frazzled. The suppliers glanced at each other, not a single one looking sympathetic. Some even snapped at her.

“Why are you screaming? Stop acting crazy, it won’t help you. You still gotta pay up!” one of them barked.

Only then did Chloe realize, these were just the suppliers from fore, not the loan sharks. But her nerves were already shot Chloe was never cut out for business, and now that Hannah Cafer had driven up the prices of those four herbs but refused to buy them, Chloe was stuck with a load of herbs she had no way to unload.

With all those herbs gathering dust, she was drowning in debt worth hundreds of millions. If she couldn’t pay up, she didn’t even need these guys to come after her, the loan sharks would (nish her off first.

Just remembering how the loan sharks went after Hannah’s grandma last time sent shivers down Chloe’s spine.

Chloe thought she had it all figured out, but Hannah had totally upped the script on her, and now it had all backfired. She’d

shot herself in the foot.

Chloe was at her wit’s end and just stopped caring. “I don’t want your stuff anymore, just take it all back!”

If she gave the herbs back to the suppliers, they could still sell them off somewhere else. At least this way, she wouldn’t end up totally screwed.

But the suppliers weren’t having it.

“Doesn’t matter if you don’t want it, you still owe us!” one of them snapped.

“Yeah! We pissed off the Nameless Healer because of you, so you have to take this batch whether you like it or not!” another one shouted.

“So, when are you paying up? If you don’t, don’t blame us for wrecking your shop!” a third one threatened.

“You… you guys!” Chloe was so pissed she could scream.

These people weren’t legit suppliers at all. They were straight-up thugs, just as bad as loan sharks!

They were the ones begging to return the goods before, but now that they can’t sell them, they’re chasing me for cash! Even though she was boiling inside, Chloe did her best to reason with them. “Listen, you can keep the deposit I already paid, just consider it a rental fee for letting me hold onto the herbs for a few days. Take the rest of the goods back, and I’m not paying the remaining balance.”

The suppliers started murmuring among themselves. They were all about the money anyway, making easy cash off the deposit wasn’t bad, and if they got the herbs back, maybe they could flip them to the Nameless Healer for a tidy profit… Just when Chloe thought she might actually pull this off, a nurse came rushing out of the Medicinal Restaurant, looking totally panicked.

“Miss Chloe, bad news! The typhoon and heavy rain made the warehouse start leaking, and all the herbs got drenched!” the nurse blurted out.

Chloe was stunned. “What?”

“The water wasn’t cleared out in time, and a bunch of the herbs got totally waterlogged and ruined! We’re checking now to see how much is still salvageable,” the nurse added.

Chloe’s vision went black, and she collapsed to the floor, her head spinning and her mind reeling.

“Miss Chloe, are you alright?” the nurse rushed over to help her, then suddenly noticed her right cheek looked swollen.” What happened to your face, Miss Chloe?”

Seeing this, the suppliers instantly switched gears. “We already gave you all the goods, so don’t even think about returning them! You gotta pay every cent, just like the contract says!”

“You’ve got one more week. If you don’t cough up the cash, dont blame us when the judge comes knocking, we’ll see you

in court!”

Throwing out those threats, the suppliers stomped off without another word.

Chloe slumped on the ground, completely dazed, not reacting for a long time. People passing by gave her strange looks, and some onlookers even whipped out their phones to snap pictures and post them online, making her humiliation go viral.

The Medicinal Restaurant hadn’t even officially opened yet, and was already about to go belly up.

Just then, the nurse got a call. After hanging up, she turned to Chloe. “Miss Chloe, Mr. Reese wants you to come back right away.”

For the first time in ages, a glimmer of hope flickered in Chloe’s yes.

‘That’s right! I can go to Alistair for help. I’m the Reese family’s real heiress now, there’s no way they’d just leave me hanging! Chloe thought, her heart racing with newfound hope.

She scrambled to her feet and hurried straight to Reese Manor.

As soon as Chloe walked into the main hall of Reese Manor, she spotted Alistair on the couch, his face so dark it looked like a storm was brewing. He was gripping a tablet, and on the screen was a viral video of her getting hounded by suppliers

for cash.

The rumor mill online was in overdrive, saying the Reese family ad tried to shake up the herb market and it backfired spectacularly, now bankruptcy was looming over them.

Alistair had brought Chloe in to rescue the Reese family’s stock, but just when things started looking up, she’d managed to wreck everything in one go.

“Did I bring you here just to make things even worse for the Reese family?” Alistair snapped, slamming the tablet down on the table, his voice cold as ice.

Chloe ducked her head, scared stiff, but inside she was fuming If they hadn’t let me do it, I never would’ve gone all out

buying those herbs like a maniac, she thought, biting back her resentment.

But she didn’t dare say any of that. Instead, she could only beg, her voice shaky with desperation, “Dad, I’m sorry. I messed up. Can you-”

“Don’t call me Dad!” Alistair cut her off coldly before she could finish. “If you don’t sort this out today, don’t come back to

Reese Manor!”

With that, he stormed off to his study, slamming the door so hard the whole house shook.

It was obvious, Alistair wasn’t going to lift a finger to help her.

Not only that, he was ready to kick her out of the Reese family for good.

Chloe just slumped to the floor, totally defeated, hot tears of regret rolling down her cheeks.

Just then, her phone started ringing. The caller ID was unfamiliar, so she picked up.

“Chloe? Heard you’re in trouble and need money,” came a man’s voice from the other end.
