Chapter 319 Black Market Underground Show

Chloe instinctively took a step back, but two men immediately blocked her way, leaving her nowhere to run.

Realizing she couldn’t escape, she just went for broke. “… I dont have any money

“No money? No problem. Our company is very understanding. If a client can’t pay, we’ll give them a chance to earn it, the leader said with a smile.

Chloe looked at his smile, which didn’t seem friendly at all, and felt a sudden sense of foreboding. “What kind of chance to earn money?”

“You’ll find out when you get there. Take her away!”

With a wave of his hand, the leader gestured for his men to move. Several guys seized Chloe, completely ignoring her desperate struggles, and forced her into the car.

At 11:59 that night, Hannah got a call from Joel. “Hehe, Fairy Sis Chloe’s tab is all settled.”

Hannah was in her study, watching Barnaby give his feedback on her design drafts. She asked in a calm tone, “Is she still alive?”

*Alive, alive! Hehe, come on, we’re living in a civilized society ruled by law. You can’t just kill people, that’s illegal! I would never do anything illegal. I’m an upstanding citizen, you know,” Joel chuckled.

Hannah was speechless.

‘Swear on your conscience and say that again,” Hannah said.

“Hehe, I can say it ten times if you want-I’m the very model of a good citizen…” Joel said cheerfully, repeating himself over and over.

Behind him stretched a stage, bathed in harsh light from a single spotlight that illuminated a towering white iron birdcage at its center. Inside the cage sat a woman clad in a sultry bunny costume.

The cage was wrapped in white roses, creating a surreal, almost fairytale-like effect-if you could ignore the ugly reality: this was the underground black market’s infamous sex slave auction and live show.

On a huge screen behind the stage, a list of anonymous bids for this “item” flashed by-15,291 bids in total, reaching a staggering 30 million dollars.

It meant that tonight, this “item” would be forced to perform an explicit, multi-man show in front of all 15,291 guests, putting on a spectacle to satisfy the most depraved desires of these filthy rich connoisseurs.

Meanwhile, back at the courtyard house…

“You’ve been on the phone with him for more than thirty seconds,” Barnaby said, literally timing it with a stopwatch, sounding super jealous.

‘Tsk, what a walking jar of jealousy.’

Hannah ignored him and said coolly into the phone, “Just make sure she stays alive.”

“Hehe, you can rest assured! I’m one of the top ten good citizens. I always respect life, never hurt anyone, and I absolutely guarantee she’ll stay alive…” Joel kept babbling.

But after he went on and on, he suddenly realized the call had been cut off at some point. Just then, a message popped up on WhatsApp.

Fairy Sis: [I’ll treat you to dinner when I’m free.]

Joel grinned, showing off his signature little canine teeth like a total dork, and instantly replied: [I want you to cook me rice noodles. It’s been so, so, so long since I had your rice noodles.]

After he sent the message, Hannah didn’t reply.

About half an hour later, out of the blue, Hannah’s account shot back: [Get lost!]

Joel scratched his head in confusion, mumbling to himself, “Man, why is Fairy Sis always such a badass?”

Just then, his assistant showed up with one of the black market managers, Clement Blackwell.

Joel put his phone away, flashed a cheeky grin, and chook Clamont’s hand then started peppering him with questions.

“So, what do you think? Can the show I put on Successfully unlocked! e’s review? Do I get accepted into the Scepter House? And when do I finally get to meet your Master?

“Master said your show is already old news in the black market This kind of thing has been done before, nothing special. The Scepter House is looking for something way more innovative, Clement said, delivering the message straight from the

Joel was floored. ‘They want something even more extreme?’

To him, these shows catering to the sickest fantasies of the filty rich were already messed up and pitch black

‘If this was already passé to the Scepter House’s Master, just how savage was he?

Suddenly, Joel couldn’t help but feel a twisted kind of awe.

Having hustled in the southern underworld, he knew that if he wanted to break into the northern scene, he’d need a serious local backer. The Scepter House was the top dog here-not just in the north, but all over Cathayria. If he could get in with them, he’d finally have some real muscle behind him.

Then he could finally take Fairy Sis back from Barnaby for himself!

To get into the Scepter House, you had to have at least one skill hobody else could match. Joel didn’t have any special talents, but he did have some rich connections, so he threw together a show that all those big spenders would go crazy for. He couldn’t help but ask, “You guys knew from the start this wasn’t anything new, so why did you even let me host the show here? Doesn’t that mean you thought it had potential?”

“The review didn’t pass, but you’re allowed to finish the show,” Clement replied. He had no idea why the higher-ups agreed to it-he just followed orders. Once he delivered the message, he left.

Joel was still confused, but he didn’t dig any deeper. After talking about money, he left as well.

The next day, at Concord Hospital…

Hannah was personally escorted by Pace Cooper to Eric’s hospital room.

On the way, Peyton made a point to apologize for the incident in the operating room.

“Hannah, I’m really sorry. It was our mistake-someone who wasn’t even on the research team managed to get in, and that’s what led to the accident,” Pace said.

“Did you get the video footage?” Hannah asked.

That surgery was a big deal for them, so the hospital made sure to record it for future training materials.

“We got the footage, but it’s hard to tell who it is.”

He took the tablet from his assistant and pulled up the video. It caught Darren Reese on camera, deliberately shoving someone, but he was bundled up from head to toe in a hat and mask, so there was no way to tell who he was.

Hannah glanced at it. “Send me this video.”

“Sure,” Peyton replied.

As they were talking, they arrived at Eric’s hospital room.

Inside, Percival had already finished checking Eric’s vitals. When he saw Hannah, he stepped forward and said, “He’s recovering pretty well. All his vital signs are improving.”

Hannah nodded and looked over at Eric, who was lying in bed.

Ever since Hannah walked in, Eric had been staring at her with those big, hopeful eyes. The moment she glanced his way. he sat up straight, not taking his eyes off her for a second.

Hannah ignored his gaze, picked up his right hand, and checked his pulse. After making sure he was fine, she turned to Mrs. Lynch and said, “Just make sure he keeps up with his rehab on schedule.”

“Yes, thank you! Thank you so much!” Mrs. Lynch nodded eagerly.

Just as Hannah was about to leave, Eric suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.

“Could I get your number?” Eric rasped, looking at her with a pleading gaze, hope flickering in his eyes.

Ever since waking up, the whole world was a blur to Eric-he couldn’t make out anyone’s face, not even his parents. He could only tell people apart by their voices and scents.

But Hannah’s face was the only one he could see clearly, almost shining in his mind, and he couldn’t help but want to get closer to her.
