Chapter 329 You’ve Done It Before
As soon as he heard that, Darren felt every cell in his body proteting ‘Apologize to Hannah? ‘Yeah, I pushed someone, but it’s not like I did anything wrong Why should I say sorry to her?
‘No way I’m doing that!’
He wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Alistair wasn’t happy
out it either.
like handing over the Reese family’s century old medical eese family was no match for Hannah alone.
Making them bow their heads and apologize to Hannah would legacy to her on a silver platter, telling the whole world that the “Dad, I don’t think we can do this,” Alistair said. “We can try to work something out, but apologizing? That’s not happening? Mrs. Reese was so mad she actually laughed. “Of course you’re siding with her! I’m with Alistair-there’s no way we’re apologizing. If you want to do it, go ahead and do it yourself!”
Seeing that none of them were willing, Raymond felt frustrated nd powerless. ‘Is the Reese family’s century-old medical legacy really going to fall apart in their hands?’ Kane thought.
“Alright, since none of you will do it, I’ll do it myself!”
With that, he marched upstairs, not looking back.
Mrs. Reese watched his determined back, her chest rising and filling with anger.
‘Evelyn, you old witch! At your age, you still won’t stop trying to look up with Raymond!
‘Fine, go ahead. I’d love to see if you two really still have unfinished business!’ she thought.

The next day.
Hannah slept in until noon. When she woke up, she heard some noise coming from the kitchen and figured it was probably the little pig causing trouble. But when she walked in, she was surprised to see Barnaby there instead.
He was wearing an apron, sleeves rolled up and held in place with armbands, his long fingers busy kneading something in a bowl, all smeared with green dough.
“Are you making mugwort rice balls?” Hannah asked, catching whiff of mugwort in the air, Curious, she walked over and peeked into the bowl. Sure enough, it was mashed mugwort leaves mixed with flour, but Barnaby had totally overdone the water, and now it was just a gooey disaster.
“Yeah,” Barnaby replied.
“Don’t you have work today?” Hannah asked, since it was a weekday.
Barnaby grinned, “I’m skipping work to make mugwort rice balls for my girlfriend-gotta make sure she remembers she’s got a boyfriend hanging around.”
Hannah rolled her eyes at his petty tone. ‘Seriously? He’s still sulking because I went to see Christopher yesterday? she thought.
“Still jealous?” Hannah teased.
Barnaby stayed silent, quietly doing his best to rescue the blobf dough.
Hannah couldn’t help but sigh, slipped behind him, hugged his olid waist, and leaned in close to peek at him. “Alright, don’ t be mad, okay? You’re smart-you know if I used your guys, it’d be way too easy for people to figure out who you really are. right?”
Barnaby stayed silent, but the annoyance was written all over hi chiseled face.
Hannah remembered what Candy had told her before-guys only act jealous or moody because they want you to notice them. So she decided to sweet-talk him a little.
“To me, you’re the most handsome and awesome guy over. I dont care about anyone else but you So be confident, okay? Stop getting jealous over nothing, alright?” Hannah said, her voie soft.
Barnaby paused mid-knead, turned his head, and gave Hannah heated look. “You really mean that?”
Hannah nodded, and for a moment, she felt like a bit of a player she could say anything just to keep him happy
But Barnaby totally ate it up.
She wasn’t usually the type to say sweet things

Barnaby looked at her possessively and said, “From now on, whenever some guy tries to get close to you, you tell him loud and clear-I’m the only man you’ll ever love in this world.”
‘Man, he’s quick to run with it!’

Hannah was pretty sure he was doing it on purpose, just to get er to say that.
Well, at least she managed to cheer him up. Honestly, sometimes dating felt way tougher than hitting the books.
“Oh, right-did you get anything on those photos I asked you to bok into?” Hannah suddenly remembered, the thought popping into her mind.
Barnaby’s eyes flickered with hesitation. “Not yet, but I did find out that Eleanor had an operation on her vocal cords:
Hannah’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Show me!”
There were clear surgical scars on Eleanor’s neck, so she really had gone under the knife. But Hannah had stayed up half the night searching, and all she could find was that Eleanor had been diagnosed with vocal cord polyps at Grace Hospital- no matter how hard she looked, there was just no record of the actual surgery anywhere.
“Check my phone,” Barnaby said, shifting to the side with his hands still covered in sticky dough, letting her fish it out herself.
Hannah slipped her hand into his pants pocket, her fingers grazing his warm thigh through the thin fabric, but the phone was nowhere to be found.
She looked up, only to lock eyes with him-his gaze was smoldering, full of barely concealed desire and playful amusement.
Suddenly realizing he was teasing her, Hannah quickly pulled her hand back.
Seeing her ears flush red, Barnaby chuckled, his voice deep and playful. “Come on, it’s not your first time getting handsy with me-why so shy now?”
Hannah’s pride flared up. She grabbed his collar, giving him a playful glare. “Careful, mister, don’t play with fire unless you’re ready to get burned…”
Barnaby swallowed, raising an eyebrow. “Or else what?”
Hannah flashed a wicked grin. “Or else you’ll be the one left to put out your own fire!”
With a cheeky twirl, she slipped her hand into his other pocket, #natched his phone, and danced away to the dining table, putting it between them.
Barnaby just stared at her, momentarily speechless.
Hannah unlocked Barnaby’s phone and dug into the document folder, quickly finding the files he’d mentioned.
Turns out, these were photos of the consent forms for Eleanor’s vocal cord polyp removal surgery from eleven years ago, with Alistair listed as the lead surgeon.
No wonder she’d spent half the night searching and still came up empty-everything was on paper, and since it was a confidential surgery agreement, the Reese family never put it in the hospital’s digital records.
“Where’s the original consent form?” Hannah asked, glancing up
“It’s in the archives at Grace Hospital, Room A, Row 18, Shelf 7, Box 35,” Barnaby replied.
He knew the exact spot, which meant he-or one of his people had definitely been there before.
“Thanks,” Hannah said, quickly forwarding the photos to her own phone before making her way out of the kitchen and heading for the study.
Barnaby watched her walk away, wanting to tell her to stop digging, but at the last second, he bit his tongue and kept quiet.
Later that afternoon, Hannah was waiting in the clinic lobby for Allen to show up. But before he and Vera could arrive, an unexpected guest walked in.
“Hello, may I have your name? Do you have an appointment?” Joe, standing by the door, didn’t recognize the visitor and asked in his usual professional tone.
The man was dressed in a tuxedo, standing tall and straight. His hair was white, but he looked sharp and full of life, his face marked by the years yet still carrying a commanding presence-ou could tell he must’ve been quite the looker back in the day.
“Raymond Reese. No, I don’t have an appointment. I’m not here to see a doctor-I’m here to meet Hannah and the Nameless Healer,” Raymond said.
His voice was steady and warm, and everything about him radiated a refined, kindly vibe.
When Hannah heard his name, she glanced up, confused. ‘Why he here?’ she thought.
“Joe, let him in,” Hannah said.
Raymond turned to Hannah, instantly recognizing her. He walked over with a warm smile, extending his hand. “Long time no see, Nameless Healer. You skipped this year’s International Medical Symposium-everyone was talking about how much they missed you.”
Grant had invited Hannah to this year’s International Medical Symposium, but she was busy and declined.
