Chapter 330 Can We Be Friends Again?
Raymond was no stranger to Hannah Carter’s cold and distant altitude. They’d crossed paths before at international medical symposiums.
Back then, she was the Nameless Healer-masked and cloaked Grant, the president of the International Medical Informatics Society, had been especially eager to keep her around as vice president, but Hannah flatly turned him down. Even then, Raymond admired the Nameless Healer-she was all about the medicine, never swayed by fame or fortune. He’d tried to recruit her to Reese Medical, but she was impossible to each.
It wasn’t until later, when Raymond realized the Nameless Healey was actually Hannah, that he couldn’t help but feel a strange mix of emotions he couldn’t quite name.
“Not really,” Raymond replied with a smile, then his expression turned serious. “I’ve been in Sylvania for a medical conference, so I had no idea my son was stirring up so much trouble back home and dragging you into it.
“I’m here today to apologize for the reckless things the Reese family did to you before. I know I failed as a parent, and I’m truly sorry for any trouble we’ve caused.”
As he spoke, Raymond pulled a contract out of his bag. “This plot of land is near the Fourth Ring Road in Kinswood. The Reese family bought it with plans to build a traditional medicine hospital, but honestly, that’s not really our area of expertise. As a way to make it up to you, I’d like to transfer the land to you hope you’ll accept this as our apology.”
Hannah stopped what she was doing and shot Raymond a suspicious look, her eyes landing on the land transfer contract in his hand.
She’d heard about that plot near the Fourth Ring Road-the Reese family spent over 600 million dollars on it and still couldn’ t get it under control.
Rumor had it they were supposed to start construction this year but ever since Hannah exposed Daisy as a fake, the whole project got shelved.
‘Now what’s the Reese family playing at?’ Hannah thought to herself.
Showing up out of nowhere with an apology and dropping such a big offer in her lap-anyone who knew the inside story would see it as a sincere gesture and a move to work with her. But to outsiders, people might think there’s something fishy going on.
“Are you trying to bribe me?” Hannah shot back.
“Don’t get me wrong,” Raymond said quickly. “Helping people is what we doctors live for. The Reese family started out in traditional medicine, but as times changed, we switched over to Western medicine. I’ve always wanted to bring traditional medicine back into the family and put it back in the spotlight, but it’s never really panned out.”
“Handing this land over to you is the best way I can think of for the Reese family to support traditional medicine. I hope you’ Il take it, grow your clinic, and spread the word about traditional medicine to help even more people.”
Underneath all that flowery speech, what Raymond really wanted was for Hannah to build a traditional medicine hospital on his land, forget the old grudges, and join forces so they could cash in together.
Hannah raised her hand, cutting him off mid-speech. “Let’s skip the empty talk. If you’re really sincere, then hand over the records and contract for Eleanor Thole’s vocal polyp surgery at race Hospital.”
Raymond froze for a second. ‘She doesn’t care about a 600-million-dollar piece of land-she just wants the files for one surgery?
‘The Nameless Healer really is the real deal-so principled, never tempted by money or status. All she ever cares about is the craft itself, Raymond couldn’t help but admire her.
As he racked his brain, trying to remember the surgery Hannah mentioned, a wave of shock hit him. ‘Wait, how does she even know about that?’
Eleanor’s surgery was supposed to be top secret-only a handful of people knew about it.
“Uh…” Raymond hesitated, caught off guard.
“Raymond, what are you doing here?”
Just then, Evelyn came out of the exam room with a patient. Her smile faltered when she saw Raymond. She told her assistant to take the patient to get some medien faced the
tador expression turning serious.
pardy, part restraint, and mostly helplessness.
Successfully unlocked! “Evelyn…” Raymond murmured, his eyes full of engl
Hannah rarely saw her grandmother like this. She glanced back and forth between the two of them, sensing something
was up.
“I’m here to apologize to Hannah for what the Reese family did,” Raymond said, keeping it real.

Evelyn had heard a bit about one of the Reese boys shoving someone in Hannah’s operating room, but she wasn’t sure if Raymond was talking about that mess or the whole Chloe Jones incident.
Either way, whenever the Reese family stirred things up, it was always trouble.
“I’ve already told you what I want. Handle it however you like,” Hannah said, her tone icy as she absently stroked her pig.
Raymond just replied, “I’ll go back and check.”
‘Gotta see if those files are still around, he thought.
“Just leave,” Hannah said bluntly, not giving him any courtesy at all.
Raymond turned to Evelyn. “Evie, can we talk for a minute?”
Just then, the next patient hadn’t shown up yet. Evelyn looked over at Hannah, and since she didn’t say anything, she followed Raymond outside.
The driver, waiting by the car, quickly opened the back door as soon as he saw Raymond and Evelyn coming out. Raymond was about to invite Evelyn to get in and find somewhere quiet to talk, but she turned him down.
“I’ve got another patient coming soon, so I can’t really leave. Whatever you want to say, just say it here,” Evelyn said. Her tone was distant, like he was nothing more than a complete stranger.
Eric felt a wave of disappointment. “Evie, it’s been so long. You’ve changed, but somehow, you’re still you.”
“Seeing you finally open your own clinic, I’m honestly happy for you. Congrats on making your dream happen. I’ve always remembered how you wanted to start a traditional medicine clinic. Back then, we used to talk about it…”
“Sorry, but my next patient is about to arrive. I really don’t have time for reminiscing. If there’s nothing urgent, I’ll head back inside,” Evelyn said, her tone cool as she cut him off and turned to leave.
Raymond quickly reached out to stop her. “I’m sorry, Evie.”
Evelyn paused mid-step.
Back then, they’d split up on bad terms. Evelyn had waited for him to come back and say sorry-if he did, she would’ve forgiven him, no matter how much his family tried to stop her. She would’ve stayed with him no matter what, even if it killed
her.
But in the end, all she got was the wedding announcement-he was marrying Catherine, who is now the revered Mrs. Reese. After all these years, those three words hit Evelyn harder than she expected. Her heart twisted with emotions she hadn’t felt in decades as she turned to look at him.
Raymond had a lot he wanted to say, but in the end, all that came out was, “I heard Catherine gave you a hard time before. Sorry she caused you trouble. I hope you don’t let it get to you. You know how she is always tough, a little sharp around the edges, but she’s not a bad person at heart…”
Evelyn thought he was finally going to explain himself, but all she got was that.
She pulled her hand away. “I don’t care what her intentions are. If the Reese family has any issues, take it out on me-just leave Anna out of this.”
Raymond saw how much Evelyn cared about Hannah. He said apologetically, “I’m truly sorry. From now on, I’ll make sure the Reese family never does anything to hurt you or Hannah again.”
“We’re both getting on in years, and who knows how many more times we’ll get to see each other? Whether it’s for old times’ sake or for business, do you think we could be friends again?”
Evelyn’s expression softened. “Can you really promise the Reese family won’t give Anna any more trouble?”
“I promise!” Hannah said.
Evelyn nodded. “Okay.”
Hannah smiled.
What neither of them realized was that a paparazzo hiding in the shadows had snapped photos of their whole exchange and sent them straight to Mrs. Reese.
