Chapter 331 Growing Possessiveness

Chapter 331 Growing Possessiveness

The photos were taken from a sneaky angle, and as Catherine looked at them, she saw the two of them holding hands and hugging, way too close for comfort. She was so furious that she threw her phone across the room.

‘Evelyn, you homewrecker! Aren’t you a bit old to be seducing men?

‘And the Reese guy, clearly not over her!

‘No wonder he brought up divorce the moment he got back. He obviously trying to rekindle things with Catherine!

‘I’m not letting them get what they want!

‘Evelyn, you never stood a chance against me when we were young, and even now, you’re still no match for me!’

But that wasn’t even what pissed her off the most.

“Grandma, something’s wrong! You need to talk to Grandpa. He about to give that land near the Fourth Ring Road to Ms. Carter’s clinic,” Darren rushed in, his voice urgent.

“What?” Catherine shot up from her seat. “Do you have any proof?”

“I just found out from the lawyer. Grandpa had him draw up the land transfer contract this morning, and he’s probably already on his way to Ms. Carter’s clinic.”

As he spoke, Darren quickly pulled up the contract on his phone and handed it to her.

Catherine put on her reading glasses and scanned the contract When she saw the land was being given away for free, along with all the development rights, her face was so dark it looked like a storm was brewing, her chest heaving with rage. ‘I haven’t even agreed to the divorce yet, and he’s already so eager to transfer the Reese family’s assets out?’ Catherine fumed.

“Grandma, come with me to Ms. Carter’s clinic right now. We have to stop them from signing the contract,” Darren urged. ‘How could he just give away the Reese family’s assets for nothing, and to Hannah Carter of all people?’ Darren’s anger boiled over.

But he knew that if he went alone, there was no way he could talk Grandpa out of it. Only Grandma could actually keep Grandpa in check.

Catherine took a deep breath and suddenly calmed down. “Don’t worry. This is Reese family property-no one’s taking it from us. Even if that homewrecker Evelyn manages to snatch it’ll make her cough it all up!”

Darren got it right away.

If Grandpa really handed over the land, Grandma, as the original wife, had every right to take it back from that homewrecker herself!

Catherine had the maid pick up her phone and called the paparazzo. “Keep following those two. I want more photos!” ‘Evelyn, you forced my hand!’ Catherine thought.

Meanwhile, at Ms. Carter’s clinic.

Not long after Raymond left, a low-key black business van pulled up in front of the clinic. It was Vera, bringing Allen with her. She didn’t want the media to catch wind of this, so she kept things extra low-profile this time.

“Allen, don’t bring that thermos,” Vera said as she saw Allen get out of the car, clutching a thermos.

Maria, worried Allen might eat dirt again, gave him some flour to play with. The thermos was stuffed with the flour he’d been messing with all morning, shaped into dumplings that looked more like wonky wontons than anything else.

When Allen heard Vera was taking him to see Hannah, he immediately grabbed a thermos, packed it with his homemade dumplings, and insisted on giving them to the pretty girl who saved him yesterday.

“No way! These dumplings are for Hannah-they’re my thank-you gift for her saving me,” Allen insisted, hugging the thermos to his chest like it was his most precious treasure.

Vera could only hope Hannah wouldn’t mind when she saw the dumplings.

The two of them got out of the car and headed into the clinic loby

cameras.

“Hello, could I get your appointment number and the patient’s name?” Joe stepped forward, keeping his tone strictly professional.

“It’s number nine for this afternoon. The patient is Allen Thole. We’re scheduled to see the Nameless Healer,” Vera replied.

“Please wait here for a moment,” Joe said, leading them to a private consultation room next door, just as Hannah had instructed.

Meanwhile, Hannah was at the dining table in the west wing, en bying the fresh mugwort rice balls Barnaby had just made

himself.

Mugwort usually tastes bitter, but Barnaby got the balance with the flour just right-he mixed it perfectly so only the herbal fragrance came through, no bitterness at all. The filling of toasted sesame and crushed peanuts was super aromatic, and the sweetness was just right-not too much, not too little.

With one bite, the outside was sticky and tender, and the inside was crunchy and aromatic. Honestly, it tasted even better than the ones he’d had shipped in from the south before.

She used to go for the savory mugwort rice balls, since the sweet ones were usually way too sugary and she’d get sick of them after just one.

Now, she was starting to rethink things.

“So, how is it?” Barnaby leaned on the table, watching Hannah take a bite with her pretty lips and really enjoy the mugwort rice balls.

Hannah nodded, grinning. “Seriously, this is amazing. If you ever get fired, you should open a restaurant for real.”

She wasn’t just saying that-his cooking was so good, she was totally addicted to his food.

“I could, but why wait until I’m unemployed? I could open one right now,” Barnaby said, standing up and pretending to be a waiter as he straightened his apron. “My restaurant’s exclusive just for you.”

Hannah’s heart did a little flip, and suddenly, the mugwort rice ball in her hand tasted even sweeter.

“Ms. Carter, how do you like our newest special? Is it tasty? Do you enjoy it?” Barnaby continued his playful waiter routine. Going along with his act, Hannah nodded. “It’s delicious. I love it!”

“So, who makes better mugwort rice balls-me or Joel’s mother Barnaby asked, jumping at the chance.

‘Wait, was all that just for this one question?’ Hannah thought.

“Seriously? Is it that hard to pick?” Barnaby raised an eyebrow, teasing her when she didn’t answer.

Seeing how earnest he was, Hannah thought, ‘If I say they each have their own charm, he’ll definitely get jealous again.’ So, she parted her lips and replied, “Yours.”

Barnaby looked satisfied. “I thought so too. Since you think hers aren’t as good, let’s just toss the ones left in the fridge. From now on, if you want mugwort rice balls, I’ll make them myself.”

As soon as he said that, he marched over to the fridge, grabbed the leftover mugwort rice balls Joel had brought for Hannah, and dumped them straight into the trash.

Hannah just stared, lost for words.

‘Is his possessiveness getting totally out of control these days? Hannah thought.

“Hannah, the Tholes are here,” Joe announced as he walked in.

Barnaby’s brows furrowed.

Hannah started to get up, but Barnaby kept her seated with a firm hand on her shoulder. “Finish eating before you go.” He turned to Joe and said, “Let them wait.”

Hannah sighed, quickly finished off the rest of her mugwort rice balls, then looked at him helplessly. “Can I go now?” Seeing her rush off with sesame filling still smeared on her lips, Barnaby frowned, a bit annoyed, and reminded her, “Wipe your mouth.”

Too eager to see Allen and find out what clues he might bring, Hannah barely paid attention as she grabbed a tissue and wiped at her mouth, then got up to head out.

“You missed a spot,” Barnaby said, reaching out to stop her.

Hannah handed him the tissue. “Where? You do it.”

Barnaby lifted her chin and claimed her lips in a possessive kiss not letting up until he’d kissed away every last bit of sesame from the corner of her mouth-only then did he finally let her go.
