Chapter 335 Drag Him Out Of Bed
Chapter 335 Drag Him Out Of Bed
“Barnaby, do you remember what we were doing the day Alasta was murdered?” Hannah asked, her cheek pressed against his chest, listening to the steady thump of his heart.
Barnaby’s brows furrowed slightly. “Why are you asking all of a sudden?”
“I realized I can’t remember what we were doing back then,” Hannah said.
“You were only six at the time. It’s normal not to remember,” Barnaby reassured her.
“But do you remember?” Hannah looked up at him.
Barnaby tried to recall. “We were probably playing hide-and-seek After we got back, you had a fever and stayed home resting.”
That was pretty much what Allen had said. They both remembered playing hide-and-seek, but Hannah couldn’t remember a thing.
“Do you remember where you were hiding? And where I was?” Hannah asked again.
Barnaby realized what she was getting at. “Are you trying to remember what happened back then?”
“Yeah,” Hannah replied.
Barnaby fell silent, his narrow eyes half-lidded as if he were lost in thought.
Hannah thought he was trying to remember, so she rested her head on his chest again, waiting quietly.
After a long pause, Barnaby finally spoke up, his voice low and Hesitant, saying what he’d been struggling to say. “Baby, once we find out who killed Rosalie, can you let go of Lysander’s case? Please don’t keep digging into it.”
The room was completely silent.
Barnaby thought maybe she was upset with him, but when he glanced down, he realized Hannah had somehow drifted off to sleep on his chest.
Barnaby gently picked her up and laid her down on the pillow, so she wouldn’t get a crick in her neck from sleeping in a weird position.
He set the AC to 82°F, and as he watched Hannah’s tired face, his heart ached for her.
‘What exactly did Allen say to Hannah that day?
‘Otherwise, why would she be so desperate to remember what happened on the day of the murder?’ he thought.
Just thinking about the files on Allen sitting in his inbox made Barnaby’s eyes turn cold and dangerous.
He got out of bed, switched off the surveillance camera, then went to the closet, changed clothes, grabbed his phone, and left the room. He called one of his female operatives and told her to stand guard at the door.
Then, he picked up his car keys and headed out.
Forty minutes later.
The silver-gray Maserati sped into Thole Manor and came to a stop right in front of Allen’s residence.
It was two in the morning, the night perfectly still. The roar of the car engine was so loud it jolted the servant on night duty awake-he’d been napping in the yard, enjoying the cool air.
He opened his eyes and saw Barnaby step out of the car, his whole presence chilling like the King of Hell himself. For a moment, the servant thought he must be seeing things.
Barnaby almost never came back to Thole Manor, and even when he did, he never came to this part of the house.
He rubbed his eyes hard, then pinched his thigh to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. When he realized it was real, he scrambled to his feet. “Sir?”
Barnaby strode into the yard, stopped at the front door, and barked, “Open up.”
The servant could tell Barnaby was in a foul mood. He was so terrified that if he slipped up even a little, Barnaby might make him disappear and no one would ever find his body. Withembling hands, he unlocked the door, then rushed off to wake up María.
Barnaby strode into the house and made a beel
With a loud bang, he kicked the door open.
Successfully unlocked!
Allen was jolted awake. Before he could even process what was happening, the lights snapped on, and Barnaby’s hand grabbed him and hauled him right off the bed.
“U-Uncle Barnaby?” Allen stammered, still dazed as his eyes adjusted to the harsh light.

“Why is Barnaby here all of a sudden?’ Allen thought, completely thrown off.
“Sir, what are you doing to Allen? Let him go right now! Maria rushed in, her hair a mess, clutching Barnaby’s sleeve. “Allen’ s been sick these past couple of days. He finally managed to fall asleep after taking his medicine. Please, don’t scare him.” “None of your business. Get out!” Barnaby shot her a cold, disdainful look. He absolutely hated it when people grabbed his
clothes.
Maria trembled all over. Like the other servants, she was terrified of Barnaby, but her worry for Allen was even stronger, so she refused to let go.
Barnaby shook Allen off and yanked his hand free from Maria’s drip. Without his support, Maria lost her balance and collapsed to the floor.
“Take her out,” Barnaby ordered coldly, his gaze landing on the servant lingering at the doorway, too intimidated to step
inside.
The servant didn’t dare defy him-Barnaby held more authority than Allen in the family. He quickly responded, helped Maria to her feet, and escorted her out of the room.
“Let go of me, Kurt! Go protect Allen, do you hear me?” Maria cried, struggling frantically, terrified Barnaby might harm Allen. But she was older now, and with the difference in strength, she was no match for him. In the end, she was dragged out of
the room.
Barnaby kicked the door shut and locked it behind him.
Seeing this, Allen clutched his blanket and dove for the closet, desperate to hide.
But he barely made it halfway before a big hand yanked him back by the collar of his pajamas.
Barnaby hauled him out and tossed him to the floor, looming over him with a cold glare. “What did you say to Hannah that day?”
Allen scrambled up from the floor, keeping up his clueless act. Uncle Barnaby, we’re playing hide-and-seek! I haven’t even finished hiding yet. Go away, no peeking!”
He tried to push Barnaby out, but it was like trying to move a mountain-Barnaby didn’t budge at all.
Barnaby watched Allen playing dumb and clueless, not a single slip in his act. Gotta hand it to him-the guy could really put on a show.
Seriously, if Barnaby hadn’t seen it for himself, he never would’ve believed someone could fake being crazy and clueless for this many years.
Barnaby pulled up a video on his phone and shoved it in Allen’s face. “What did you say to Hannah that day? Don’t make me ask a third time. If you don’t talk, these videos are going straight to every Thole family member’s phone.”
Allen glanced at the screen and was instantly stunned.
It was surveillance footage from his meeting with Hannah at Stoneview Park. Every moment was captured-from the second he entered the park, to the locker where he dropped something off, right up to when he left and returned to Thole Manor. The video had been zoomed in and marked with highlights, exposing every single detail.
Allen stared at Barnaby in terror. ‘I was so damn careful that day. How did he still catch me?’ he thought, dread flooding his
mind.
Barnaby snapped, “Out with it!”
Allen swallowed hard. He knew Barnaby never bluffed-if those videos landed in the hands of the family head and the rest, all the years he’d played the fool in the Thole family would’ve been pointless.
He couldn’t blow his cover-not until Hannah figured out who the killer was.
He had no choice but to come clean. “I gave her… photos of Lysander’s case file.”
Barnaby’s expression turned even icier. “Where is it?”
Allen hesitated, then ducked under the bed, found a hidden compartment, and pulled out a phone, switching it on.
That was the phone he’d used to send Hannah those pictures
Barnaby stared at the case file photos on the phone, his expression turning icier by the second. “So you roped Hannah into helping you dig deeper?”
Allen could tell Barnaby was pissed. He was still obsessed with controlling everything about Hannah, just like always.
“She was already looking into it herself. I just passed her some ads. Plus, she might’ve been at the scene when it all went down,” Allen said.
