When Evelyn was brought here from the hotel, she hadn’t been worried at aff. She believed that the truth would prove her Innocence and the police would do her justice

But as she listened to the two of them talk, it suddenly dawned on her-they/d already colluded against her!

“Whether you did it or not isn’t up to you! We go by the evidence the interrogator barked.

Catherine flashed a smug grin. “Evidence? I’ve got it all right here

With that, she pulled a stack of freshly printed, compromising photos from her bag and handed them to the interrogator These are the proof!”

Evelyn’s face went pale the moment she saw the photos.

These were the photos taken just now at the hotel-right after she walked in, Catherine’s people had forced her down, ripped off her clothes, and snapped these pictures!

“And here’s the land transfer contract. She tricked my husband into drafting it. The signed original will be brought over later Catherine said, pulling out another document.

Hannah had brought up the land transfer to Evelyn before, but she never actually accepted it! Still, Catherine was twisting it to accuse her now.

Suddenly, Evelyn couldn’t help but wonder-was Raymond’s visit to the clinic all part of their setup?

And today, Raymond had asked her to meet at the Enchanting Hotel. But she never even saw him there-she just got jumped by Catherine’s crew as soon as she arrived.

If Raymond hadn’t told her to bring those documents Hannah needed-documents that were really important to Hannah- she never would’ve gone.

But in the end, she’d walked right into their trap!

After the interrogator finished looking over the photos and the contract, he fixed Evelyn with a cold, hard stare. “Evelyn, the evidence is all here. Got anything else to say for yourself?”

“When they want you guilty, any excuse will do,” Evelyn said, a bitter, helpless smile tugging at her lips.

She looked at Catherine, her voice calm and steady. “After all these years, times have changed, but you haven’t changed one bit. What’s the point of framing me like this? The Reese family is yours now. Traditional medicine and Western medicine have always kept to our own paths. Can’t we just leave each other alone?”

She didn’t want things to get ugly and give Catherine any more leverage-she didn’t want Hannah to get dragged into this

mess.

But instead of soothing Catherine, Evelyn’s words only made the fire of jealousy inside her burn even fiercer.

All these years had gone by-if Darren had just put in a little effort, they could’ve been showing off their great-grandkids by now. But Raymond still couldn’t let go of her!

She was still the one he held in his heart!

It made Catherine feel like her whole life was a joke. She’d spent decades playing the part of Mrs. Reese, enjoying all the perks of being the Reese family’s leading lady, but she could never take the top spot in Raymond’s heart!

Raymond didn’t know a thing about this. She needed to close the case before he arrived!

Hannah looked up, her gaze icy as she locked eyes with him, then glanced at the badge on his chest. When she saw the compromising photos laid out on the table, her face was like ice-completely emotionless, cold as winter.

The interrogator hurried over to the middle-aged man. “Chief Clarke…”

“Suspend him immediately. Take him away and put him in solitary for investigation.” Chief Clarke cut him off before he could say another word.

He didn’t even get a chance to speak before Crane interrupted him.

The interrogator froze in place, stunned.

‘Isn’t Chief Clarke related to Catherine?’ he thought, his mind reeling.

‘Shouldn’t he be on her side?’

‘Why am I the one getting suspended?’

Before he could even react or beg for mercy, two cops grabbed him and hauled him away.

Chief Owens took the keys and personally unlocked Evelyn’s cuffs, his voice full of regret. “Evelyn, I’ve looked into everything. This was all just a misunderstanding. I’m truly sorry for what you’ve been put through.”

Catherine’s face turned stormy as she tried to rush forward, shouting, “Crane Owens, you can’t just let her-ah!” But before she could finish, Raymond grabbed her and pulled her back.

“Look at yourself! You’re acting like a shameless shrew from the streets! Gavin, take Mrs. Reese home. Don’t let her embarrass herself here any longer!” Raymond barked.

He shoved Catherine toward his assistant, who didn’t hesitate- gnoring her protests, he dragged her out of the room. Hannah helped Evelyn up and gave Crane a polite nod. “Thanks, Uncle Owens.”

“Don’t mention it, Hannah,” Crane replied with a warm smile. “It’s the least I can do for you. Besides, this whole thing was just a misunderstanding. If you hadn’t stepped in, I never wouldve realized there were people on my team who’d stoop so low.”

Ethan’s dad-ever since Hannah saved Ethan’s life after he got hurt on a mission, Uncle Clarke had always been grateful to

her.

So when he heard one of his men had actually arrested Hannah grandma, he dropped everything and rushed over Hannah nodded, giving the photos and the printout with the forged signature on the table a frosty once-over.

Uncle Clarke caught on right away and swept up the photos and the statement “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it personally No one will ever see these photos, and I’ll make sure the department gets its act together

“Come on, Grandma, let’s go home,” Hannah said softly, helpingvelyn to her feet and guiding her out.

“Evelyn…” Raymond called, his voice low and hesitant as he stepped forward.

Evelyn averted her gaze, deliberately ignoring him.

Hannah’s voice was icy as she said, “Move.”

Seeing Evelyn ignore hirm, Raymond figured she must have misunderstood.

If he hadn’t let his guard down, Catherine never would’ve gotten way with this.

He didn’t push it, just stepped aside. As Hannah helped Evelyn out of the interrogation room, he called after them, “Ms. Carter, can I talk to you for a moment? Just the two of us?”
