Chapter 78
“Wait and see what she’s planning.” Hannah replied, her words slightly muffled by her electric toothbrush.
With multiple parties still hunting for the Obsidian Pearl, Daisy’s sudden appearance provided perfect cover, drawing attention away from the real healer.
After exchanging a few more words, they ended the call.
Hannah finished her morning routine and went for a run around the neighborhood.
When she returned, the entire family, all four of them, were gathered at the breakfast table with the morning paper spread out before them. Even Cici had joined them.
“So Ms. Reese is actually the Nameless Healer?” Cici asked, breaking the silence. “Do you think we could ask her to take a look at Mrs. Aurelia Scott?”
Aurelia had been in and out of the hospital ever since she fainted upon hearing the news about Hannah’s alleged cheating. Her age-related conditions kept flaring up, and she had remained under medical care since.
Dorian turned to Arthur with a thoughtful expression. “Why don’t you reach out to Ms. Reese, Arthur? Your grandma can’t stay in the hospital forever. The bills are mounting, and the doctors still can’t give us a clear diagnosis. The Nameless Healer might be exactly what she needs.”
He didn’t voice the rest of his thoughts aloud that Daisy was still unattached, and so was Arthur.
If the two of them happened to grow closer while arranging the consultation, it might just be the opportunity the Scott family needed to restore their standing.
“I think we should let Hannah examine Grandma,” Lucian cut in, a note of unmistakable pride in his voice. “She’s incredibly skilled.”
Felicity and Cici both turned to stare at him, surprised by his sudden endorsement of Hannah.
Lucian didn’t seem to notice. Just then, he spotted Hannah entering the room and called out, “You’re back! Come on. We’ve been waiting for you to start breakfast.”
Hannah met his gaze, a faint smile touching her lips. “Sure.”
Cici watched the exchange in disbelief as Lucian had always been too proud to acknowledge Hannah as his sister.
‘What’s going on with him? Did he have a change of heart overnight?’ she wondered inwardly.
Felicity, on the other hand, felt a swell of emotion. Seeing her son finally accept his sister was more than she’d dared hope for.
“Wow, so a handmade bracelet was all it took to win you over,” Arthur remarked with a light, mocking laugh.
“You’re just jealous you didn’t get one,” Lucian shot back, grinning.
Arthur glanced down at his own wrist, where nothing but a Rolex stared back.
He couldn’t help but wonder, “When will Hannah give me something like that?’
When Hannah returned downstairs after changing, she found breakfast served but untouched. The family had waited for her before beginning their meal.

After they finished, Felicity broached the subject carefully. “Hannah, would you consider joining me later to visit your grandmother at the hospital?”
Though Dorian and the others appeared occupied with their meals, they were all listening intently.
This had been the consensus reached while Hannah was changing.
Felicity and Lucian believed in her medical abilities, while Dorian remained skeptical, preferring to seek out the renowned
Nameless Healer.
Arthur, meanwhile, felt it would be rash to directly ask Hannah to treat Aurelia, especially given the past tensions between Aurelia and Hannah over Susie.
In the end, they agreed it would be best to start by simply inviting Hannah to visit.
“Not today,” Hannah replied calmly.
Felicity’s hopeful expression faded.
Dorian released a quiet, dismissive sound as if to say, ‘Just as I expected.
“Perhaps next week,” Hannah added.
Felicity’s spirits lifted at once.
“Hannah’s been nominated for the school belle competition and needs to prepare for the speech contest next Friday,” Arthur explained. “It can wait until after that’s over.”
Hannah glanced at him, surprised he knew about the nomination.
“I’ve given speeches before. Feel free to ask me for help,” Lucian offered eagerly.
“With your elementary-level public speaking skills? You wouldn’t even qualify to teach kindergarten,” Arthur retorted. Turning to Hannah, he added, “I’ve arranged for a professional coach to come this afternoon.”
Just because you’re rich, Lucian thought resentfully. ‘Wait till I make it big. Then we’ll see.
Hannah shook her head. “That won’t be necessary. I’m going out and won’t be back for lunch.”

The new week ignited a firestorm of activity on the campus forum following the release of the campus belle and beau preliminary results.
Jane had been among those eagerly awaiting the announcement, staying up until midnight on Friday to refresh the page.
A wave of satisfaction washed over her when she confirmed Hannah’s name firmly holding the top spot.
Her week of strategic and insincere vote-campaigning had paid off.
Claudia secured second place, fueling her determination to eventually humiliate Hannah in return for past grievances.
Across campus, selected candidates immersed themselves in intense speech practice, while forum spectators diligently tracked their progress, debating daily odds of victory.
Yet Hannah remained a conspicuous outlier. Despite her strong preliminary showing, her perceived chances of winning stagnated at zero.
No one had witnessed her practicing. Some even claimed she had skipped classes altogether.

Disappointed supporters began flooding the forum with posts like, “Who was it that said Hannah was turning over a new
leaf?”
Unbeknownst to them, Hannah had been fully immersed in her work at the laboratory, completely detached from the campus gossip.
For ten straight days, she had focused on extracting the Obsidian Pearl from its toxic fluid-filled capsule, a delicate and dangerous process where a single misstep could turn the precious substance into a deadly poison.
Having finally succeeded in isolating the pearl, she was now ready to move on to the next stage, formulating the medicine.
After logging into her Raven account to request several rare herbs from Piggy, she switched back to her personal account and noticed Barnaby’s name in her messages.
It was already time for his follow-up consultation, yet he hadn’t reached out.
After a moment’s thought, she decided to take the initiative.
Hannah: [Are you at Skycrest? I can stop by later for your check-up.]
Two hours passed without reply, an unusual silence from Barnaby, who typically responded promptly.
A knock at the lab door pulled her from her thoughts.
After safely storing the Obsidian Pearl and removing her protective gear, she opened the door to find Owen flashing his signature bright smile.
“Hope I’m not interrupting,” he said. “I’m here to take you to see my grandma.”
“Not at all,” Hannah replied calmly, locking the lab behind her. “Let’s go.”
She had promised Wolfram the previous week that she would examine his mother, Pamela Croft, after school today.
Together, they walked out of the lab building, where the Croft family driver stood waiting by the car.
Owen was holding the car door open for Hannah in a gesture of unmistakable courtesy when Jane happened to witness the
scene.
‘That bitch! How dare she throw herself at Owen like that?’ Jane muttered under her breath.
Quickly pulling out her phone, she captured several photos and anonymously uploaded them to the campus forum with a provocative caption. [Stop saying Hannah isn’t preparing for the speech contest. She’s just practicing in her own special way.]
The post detonated across the forum like a depth charge.
