Chapter 93
Chapter 93
“Thank Hannah?” Aurelia scoffed coldly.
Thank her for being a jinx, my nemesis, for landing me in the hospital and bankrupting the Scott family? Aurelia thought
with bitterness.
“Yeah, she did acupuncture to get your blood flowing again. Once that was sorted, your health started getting better across the board,” Jonathan said gently.
“Is that true?” Aurelia’s eyes widened in shock.
“That brat actually knows her stuff?’ Aurelia thought, her mind spinning.
“Absolutely,” Jonathan couldn’t help but gush. “Your granddaughter is a real prodigy. At her age, she’s already mastered the Thirteen Phantasmagoria Needles technique to perfection.
“She’s got serious talent. Mind if I get her contact info? I’d love to bring her on as a chief physician at Starlake General Hospital.”
‘Chief physician?’ Aurelia’s jaw dropped so wide she could’ve fit an egg in there.
She even started to wonder if her ears were playing tricks on her.
Jonathan, the director of Starlake General Hospital and a heavyweight in the medical world, is actually hyping up Hannah?’ Aurelia thought, still reeling.
And he wants her as a chief physician?’ Aurelia’s mind was spinning.
“That’s the highest title a doctor can get!’ Aurelia thought, her mind reeling.
Felicity was in shock. She knew Hannah was skilled in acupuncture, but she never expected her to be this incredible!
Only Lucian looked proud. “See? I told you my sister’s an amazing doctor, but you guys never believed me!”
Felicity snapped back to reality and said, “Thank you so much for your kind offer, Mr. Whitmore, but Hannah’s still in school. Her studies come first, so she can’t take on a full-time position right now…”
“That’s perfectly fine. If she can’t commit to a full-time role, she can be a consulting expert. The starting salary is one million a year,” Jonathan said, handing over his business card with both hands.
“Could you please pass this to her? We really need a prodigy like her at Starlake General Hospital.”
‘One million a year?’ Aurelia’s mind was spinning.
Even before the Scott family went bankrupt, that kind of money was a fortune to Aurelia. Now that they were broke, it was almost unimaginable.
‘I never thought that brat would be worth this much!’ Aurelia thought, still in shock.
Felicity was still wavering, but Aurelia was the first to take the business card and said, “No need for her to think it over. I’m her grandmother, I can make decisions for her. I’ll accept the job for her.”
“Mom…” Felicity started, but Aurelia shot her a glare that clearly meant, “Zip it.”
“Mr. Whitmore, don’t listen to her. My sister’s not even an adult yet! But I’ll make sure she gets your offer,” Lucian said, looking all grown-up and serious.

Chapter 93
Jonathan had seen plenty in his time, and he instantly caught on to Aurella’s little scheme, but he just smiled and gave Lucian a friendly pat on the shoulder.
“Age isn’t an issue. We’re happy to wait. I’ll count on you, little man, to pass the word along Looking forward to her reply Jonathan said warmly.
Right next to Skycrest House was the Skyking House, a gated community where every villa was named after one of the 88 constellations in the sky.
Right now, inside the Ursa Major villa, the atmosphere in the living room was tense and downright chilling.
Two rows of bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses flanked the room, while three middle-aged men were kneeling on the floor, begging for mercy from the man sitting on the sofa.
The man wore a fierce, demonic mask and was dressed head-to-toe in black. His long legs were casually crossed, slightly apart, and his right hand rested on the armrest, a dragon-engraved ring glinting on his thumb.
He exuded an aura so commanding, it was like he was a king among men, noble, yet utterly ruthless.
Beneath the mask, his narrow, phoenix-like eyes were icy cold as he looked down at the men on the floor, as if they were nothing but insects to him.
“Master, please spare us! We lost our minds for a moment and strayed from the right path,” one of the men whimpered.
“We know we messed up, really, we do! We swear it’ll never happen again. Please, just give us a chance to redeem ourselves,” another begged.
“Let us atone for our sins and work for the Scepter House,” the third man pleaded desperately.
The three middle-aged men kept banging their heads on the floor, the sound echoing through the room.
“There’s only one end for traitors to the Master!” Axel, the burly man beside Barnaby, said with a chilling tone.
Then he barked out the order, “Cripple them and dump them abroad for hard labor.”
The three men nearly blacked out. ‘Hell, that’s even worse than death!’ they thought, despair washing over them.
“Master, please, have mercy on us…” Their pleas grew even more desperate as they kept banging their heads on the floor, blood starting to seep from their foreheads.
Just then, a phone rang out, cutting through the tense silence.
Barnaby’s sharp fingers picked up the phone. When he saw the caller ID, his frosty expression under the mask softened just a little, a rare warmth flickering in his eyes.
Barnaby parted his thin lips and ordered coldly, “Keep it down.”
The three men clung to a shred of hope, thinking maybe their luck had turned. They stared up at him, desperate for mercy.
But those words weren’t meant for them, they were for the bodyguards.
The bodyguards split into pairs and closed in. One silenced each man, while the other went about disabling them for good.
Three sharp cracks echoed through the room as bones snapped one after another.
The three men were in so much pain they couldn’t even make a sound, their vision swimming as everything started to go
dark.

Barnaby picked up the phone and, without missing a beat, said in a surprisingly gentle tone. “Baby, are you coming back?
One of the bodyguards, in the middle of roughing someone up, froze for a second when he heard that nickname and Barnaby’s unfiltered, warm voice. Its hand slipped, almost going too fat and finishing the guy off by accident.
Wait, is this really the cold-blooded, no-nonsense Master of the Scepter House? the bodyguard thought, totally thrown for a loop.
Who the hell is on the other end of that call?’ he wondered, totally baffled.
The middle-aged man let out a muffled groan before passing out from the pain.
Axel was stunned into silence.
Boss, seriously, your badass image as the Master of the Scepter House is on the line here!’ Axel thought, totally at a loss for words.
On the other end of the line, Hannah’s breath caught, she couldn’t help but feel her heart flutter. ‘Damn, why is his voice so irresistible?’ she thought, a little flustered.
‘Baby. The last time Hannah heard Barnaby call her that was eleven years ago, back when she was living with the Thole family. He used to call her that all the time.
“No, I’m still busy over here,” Hannah replied, snapping out of it. “I’m just calling to remind you, make sure you eat and don’t forget your meds.”
“I thought you missed me,” Barnaby said, his voice tinged with regret.
One of the bodyguards’ hands slipped again, and he sent another guy crashing to the floor with a heavy thud, out cold.
On the other end, Hannah was silent, totally stunned.
Not gonna lie, she was actually a little worried about his injury.
“Is someone else there?” Hannah asked, catching the sounds in the background.
“Nope, just me, and that pig,” Barnaby said, not even blinking.
Axel was speechless.
Even the bodyguards were left dumbfounded.
‘So we’re just air now, huh?’ they all thought, feeling totally invisible.
“I ordered you some food. The delivery guy will bring it by later, so keep an ear out for the doorbell,” Hannah said.
“Thanks, baby, you’re always so sweet. Can’t wait for you to come home,” Barnaby replied.
As soon as Barnaby hung up, every trace of gentleness vanished. His whole vibe turned icy cold again.
He shot a frosty glance at the three middle-aged men lying motionless on the floor. His thin lips parted as he ordered, “Get rid of them.”
“Yes, sir,” Axel replied, then waved his hand at the bodyguards. They dragged the men out, one by one.
Once the room was empty, Barnaby reached up and pulled off his demonic mask. “Let’s head back to Skycrest House,” he
said.
Axel hurried over to help him, while Ronin came out of the room pushing a wheelchair.
