Chapter 114 Heated Debate in the Dean’s Office

“Mr. Wyatt, I fully agree these are all good kids,” Gordon said calmly. “But they’re in their senior year now, the most critical stretch ahead of SATS. Foolish fights like this are the last thing we need happening on campus.”

He appreciated Clark’s reasonable tone and relaxed a little.

“Are you two alright?” He turned to check on Zora and Hallie the moment he walked in.

“I’m totally fine, don’t worry about me.” Hallie tossed her hair back, acting like it was no big deal.

“I’m okay too.” Zora shook her head softly.

Before anyone could say more, another woman stepped into the office.

She looked to be in her thirties, wearing a neat, formal uniform with glasses, carrying a strict, stern air about her.

“Mr. Brooks, you have to stand up for my students! It was just a small verbal disagreement, yet it escalated into this mess. Class 19 is far too bullying!”

Grace Voss glanced first at the disheveled state of Jolie and Tessa, then at Zora and Hallie, who barely had a scratch on them, before turning straight toward Clark.

“Mr. Wyatt, thank goodness you’re here. Look at what your students did to mine.”

Clark took in Jolie and Tessa’s messy appearance, silently thinking to himself just how tough his students could be in a fight.

He said to Grace in a calm, rational tone, “Ms. Voss, defending your students doesn’t mean twisting the truth,” Clark replied firmly. “Your students started picking on mine first. Zora only lost her temper and reacted without holding back. She’s always mild-tempered and never starts trouble with anyone easily.”

If Jolie hadn’t run her mouth recklessly, Zora would never have snapped. Such a gentle girl only lashed out because their words were unnecessarily cruel, and she’d stood up for her classmates too.

“A petty argument turning into a physical fight? Your students sure seem awfully petty,” Grace shot back, clearly unhappy with Clark’s defense. She was always quick to side with her own class.

“Ms. Voss, could you accept it if someone called one of your students a lapdog?” Clark’s gentle eyes turned sharp with anger.

Grace frowned at once, glancing back at the two girls behind her.

“Who said that?”

She’d only heard it was a minor quarrel and never expected such harsh insults to be thrown around.

Under her stern gaze, Jolie pressed her lips tight and stayed completely silent.

Students around campus already had a low opinion of her, and now even her own teacher was clearly disappointed. She could feel her reputation slipping further away at school.

Grace was always fair-minded. If her students were clearly at fault, she would never blindly cover for them.

Tessa glanced at Jolie and sighed inwardly, ready to speak up to smooth things over.

“Ms. Voss, it was Jolie. She called me a lapdog,” Hallie cut in first, staring straight at Jolie.

Jolie instantly shot Hallie a cold, venomous glare.

“Hallie, no one asked you to speak.” Tessa frowned, clearly annoyed.

“Jolie, apologize at once,” Grace said in clear surprise.

She’d always thought highly of Jolie as a model student. Even after the campus forum drama, she’d written it off as private family matters and never judged her unfairly. She’d never imagined Jolie was the one who’d sparked the whole conflict.

Jolie stayed silent, her lips pressed firmly together. She had no intention of apologizing to them

at all.

“Jolie, when you’re in the wrong, you own up and say you’re sorry.”

Grace frowned at her, disappointed by her stubborn, unrepentant attitude.

“Ms. Voss, it’s partly my fault too. Let me apologize instead.” Tessa stepped forward.

“I’m sorry, Hallie, Zora,” she said politely toward them.

“That’s enough,” Gordon spoke up coldly, looking at Jolie’s unyielding silence. “Since she refuses to apologize, we’ll have to call parents in. This is beyond our handling now.”

He’d originally planned to let the girls settle things with a simple mutual apology, but Jolie refused every chance to make amends and acted as if everyone owed her something. Her attitude rubbed him the wrong way entirely.

She’d started the whole trouble, disrupted everyone’s lunch break, and still carried a petty, bitter look on her face.

At the mention of calling parents, Zora’s brows furrowed. She grabbed her phone and walked out of the office.

Hallie had already dialed her mom’s number right away.

Standing alone in the empty hallway, Zora scrolled through her contact list, unsure who she should call.

She didn’t want Opal and Floyd worrying over this mess. Yale was away on a business trip. Anton was swamped with work at the hospital, and Holden was competing in another city.

There weren’t many contacts left on her phone-only two names remained: Jett and Leighton.

Neither homeroom teacher had planned to involve parents at first, preferring to let the girls sort out their own teenage conflict quietly.
