Chapter 136 Unfounded Online Accusations
2)
Her simple, understated words of comfort were nothing like a typical consolation, yet Maya still smiled.
It was a faint smile, but one that came straight from the heart.
Somehow, all the sorrow, exhaustion, and pain Maya had carried over the years felt laid bare before her-every bit of her embarrassment exposed too.
“… Maybe I can take a look at your mother’s condition,” Zora said after a long pause, sensing Maya had calmed herself down.
Elsewhere, the students of Class 19 seethed with rage as they scrolled through online
comments.
Everyone in their class knew Zora was gentle and unassuming; she was the kind of girl who’d walk blindly into a trap without realizing it. There was no way she’d ever do something cruel to Jolie.
When Zora and Maya walked back into the classroom, they immediately sensed the tense atmosphere.
The moment they stepped through the door, an angry voice boomed out.
“Damn it, there’s not a shred of proof, yet people spout nonsense online just because everyone else is talking about it.” Easton slammed his palm down on the desk with a loud crash. “And the comment section’s full of mindless sheep just jumping on the bandwagon.”
“Everyone knows the Knox family dotes on Jolie more than anything. If Zora really did something like this, it’d only make the Knox family like her even less,” Felix muttered, scrolling idly through the campus forum with his long fingers before letting out a scoff. “If she were scheming enough to pull that off, she never would’ve gotten tricked into leaving in the first place.”
“Jolie just won’t leave her alone!” Hallie fumed, glaring at the damaging posts about Zora on the campus forum. “Zora’s allergic to cream-there’s no way they fought over some cake. It’s all complete garbage! I’d bet everything Jolie’s behind this petty mess.”
Hallie didn’t believe a single word of the online rumors for a second. She was certain Jolie was the one smearing dirt all over Zora’s reputation.
With Zora’s soft, innocent looks, she was far too genuine to ever scheme Jolie away from the Knox family.
“Ahem-”

A sudden chorus of coughing broke out across the classroom.
“Whoever’s sick ought to grab some cold medicine,” Easton snapped, tapping his phone screen so hard he looked ready to break it.
Zora and Maya noticed the uneasy, strained looks on everyone’s faces.
“What’s going on?” Maya’s cool, quiet voice cut through the tension, reaching Easton’s ears.
Easton and the others, who’d been firing back at trolls in the comments, froze when they realized Zora and Maya had returned.
“Zora… you guys are back?” Easton quickly hid his phone behind his back.
The angry murmurs in the classroom died down at once, though everyone still grumbled quietly to themselves.
None of them wanted Zora to see all this ugly drama.
Staring at Zora’s stunning features-more delicate than a doll-they couldn’t bring themselves to believe a single word of the online posts.
Even if there was a grain of truth to it, someone as breathtakingly beautiful as Zora deserved the benefit of the doubt.
What did it matter if a lovely girl made a tiny mistake anyway?
“Is something wrong? Were you talking about me just now?” Zora noticed their nervous, evasive expressions and guessed the conversation was about her.
“Zora…” Easton hesitated, realizing there was no way to hide it any longer, and handed her his phone.
Zora rarely used her phone and never bothered browsing the school’s forum.
“Don’t worry, none of us believes those lies. We’ve already fired back at all the trolls,” Easton said, watching her expression carefully. “Honestly, if there were surveillance cameras, this whole thing would be settled in a second.”
Clearing her name wouldn’t be hard if there was footage to prove the truth.
Just like last time.
He knew getting hold of the surveillance video from the Knox family would set everything right soon enough. But given the tense dynamic between Zora, Jolie, and the Knox household -who clearly favored Jolie-they’d never hand over the footage willingly. It was probably pointless to even ask.

Finisued
And if Easton could figure that out, Zora certainly could too.
Reading through the malicious comments targeting her, Zora pressed her lips into a firm line.
“It’s fine. Let them talk.” She handed the phone back to Easton calmly. “Don’t let it bother any of you either. Just ignore it all.”
Maya scanned the endless online claims bashing Zora as arrogant, manipulative, and cunning. A sharp, cold curve tugged at her pale lips, her eyes glinting with icy disdain.
“Zora, can you tell me exactly what happened between you and Jolie? The exact date, time, and place.”
Maya never for a moment believed Zora would act so maliciously.
Zora turned to meet her gaze, finding only gentle concern in Maya’s eyes, her sharp edge carefully hidden away.
Zora had never paid much mind to online gossip, yet she hadn’t expected her classmates to care so deeply. They’d only known each other a short while, but they’d gone out of their way to stand up for her.
A warm, tangled feeling settled softly in her chest.
Meeting Maya’s earnest gaze, Zora tightened her fist briefly and let out a slow breath.
“It was the afternoon of July 2nd, at half past one. At the far end of the second-floor hallway. Jolie was the one who knocked over the vase. I’d just stepped out of my room when she dropped the vase to the floor on purpose, then screamed that I’d broken it… She picked such a tricky spot, one the security cameras couldn’t possibly capture.”
