Zora slung her school bag over her shoulder and pushed open the bedroom door. She froze the moment she spotted the tall, handsome man standing in the living room.

“Zora…”

Jensen caught sight of her and took two quick steps toward her.

“Jensen…”

Zora never expected to run into him right after waking up.

It had only been a little over a week since they last met, yet he looked visibly worn out.

His fine features were etched with exhaustion from nonstop travel, and faint stubble lined his jaw.

Zora had never seen him look so haggard before.

“I’m so sorry. I failed to keep you safe.”

Relief washed over Jensen the second he saw her. He stepped forward and pulled Zora gently into his arms, his large slender palm resting on the back of her head to calm his lingering fear.

His deep voice was filled with endless remorse.

He was the one who brought her here, yet he had not protected her well enough.

He had gotten word overseas that Zora had been treated badly by the Knox family the day before. Regret had gnawed at him instantly, regret for not being able to rush back to stay by her side and shield her from all harsh treatment.

“When did you get back?” Zora rested her head against his chest, listening to his quick tense heartbeat, then looked up at him softly.

Heavy dark circles lingered under his eyes, clearly showing he had not gotten proper rest for

ages.

“I came back early this morning,” Jensen replied quietly.

In truth, he had arrived in the middle of the night. Not wanting to wake her while she slept soundly, he had simply sat quietly in the living room, eager to see her the instant she woke up.

He had flown all the way back after a full day of endless meetings without any time to rest. The moment he landed, he hurried straight over here and called Leighton to let him in.

“Both of you hurry up and get ready for breakfast.”

Leighton fetched the takeout meals from the entrance, yawned lazily and spoke casually as he turned around, seeing the two siblings embracing each other.

Jensen’s sudden midnight return had left Leighton worn out the most.

He had finally fallen asleep after struggling with insomnia for ages, only to be woken up in the dead of night.

Jensen kept asking endless questions, worrying constantly whether Zora had been wronged or

upset.

Thanks to Zora’s soothing help, Leighton had finally managed to sleep soundly lately, yet Jensen’s arrival ruined it all. The two men stayed wide awake until dawn, with Leighton passing the time handling work.

When morning came and it was nearly time for Zora to head to school, Leighton contacted his assistant to arrange breakfast delivery.

Since Zora was staying over, he did not head to the office early as usual.

“Let’s eat first, Zora. I’ll drive you to school afterward.”

Jensen loosened his embrace, took her school bag and led her toward the dining table.

“I wasn’t sure what flavors you like, so I just ordered a variety of things. Tell me your favorites, and I’ll have them prepared for you next time,” Leighton said while unpacking all the food containers.

He got a nice spread of light morning meals: fluffy pancakes, buttery croissants, tender chicken potato patties, classic club sandwiches and shrimp egg toast. He picked out both sweet and savory treats, so there was bound to be something she loved.

He then headed to the kitchen to heat up a glass of warm milk for Zora, and brewed two cups of coffee for himself and Jensen.

“You two really need to cut back on coffee. You already struggle with sleep issues, and too much caffeine will mess up your body functions and make insomnia even worse in the long run.”

Zora sat down at the table, with Jensen taking the seat beside her and Leighton sitting across from them. She frowned seeing them reach for coffee first thing in the morning.

Neither of them slept well, yet they still drank coffee bright and early.

“Got it, we won’t drink it anymore.”

Both men froze with their hands halfway toward the mugs and obediently pulled them back after being gently scolded.

Leighton immediately pushed the coffee cups aside and walked into the kitchen.

Jensen watched him obey Zora so easily in pure surprise.

He had known Leighton for years. Everyone knew that though Leighton seemed easygoing on the surface, very few people could truly gain his trust, let alone make him listen obediently, not even his own father.

“It seems you two get along really well now.” Jensen glanced at Zora, his sharp eyes filled with mixed emotions.

He had been worried that Zora would feel awkward staying with Leighton while he was away, yet now it looked like Leighton had grown closer to her than he had.

“I’m treating him,” Zora said.

If she weren’t treating Leighton, they probably wouldn’t have much contact.

Leighton had already told Jensen all about this treatment plan during their midnight talk.

“Zora, would you like to come live with me?” Jensen asked.
