Chapter 186 Embarrassing Old Stories
Garrett nodded thoughtfully. At the mention of Jensen, he knew who he was-his youngest son’s friend.

Garrett had been well acquainted with Floyd too; the two had once fought alongside each other in their youth.
He had heard months ago that the Marlows had welcomed their long-lost granddaughter back home, yet they had never met in person.
He never expected their first encounter to happen like this.
“Her name is Zora,” Walter reminded him timely.
“Zora… such a beautiful name,” Garrett said in praise.
Zora smiled gently upon hearing the kind words.
“Little girl, how old are you?”
Having relaxed his demeanor after chatting for a while, Garrett looked at Zora with a warm smile.
“I’m seventeen,” Zora had long grown used to his odd look and answered obediently.
“Seventeen… seventeen?! Seventeen!”
Garrett mumbled to himself for a moment before his eyes widened in shock.
“Yes…” Zora tilted her head, confused by his sudden astonishment.
Garrett had guessed Zora was still underage, yet the truth still left him stunned.
He exchanged a meaningful glance with Walter, standing beside him,
She’s far too young. That punk has truly grown shameless.
Sir, I told you it might be a misunderstanding.
It’s all over… I thought someone could finally rein him in. Turns out there’s still a long way to go, and that punk will remain free-wheeling for ages.
The light faded completely from Garrett’s eyes, his mood instantly sinking.
No matter how hopeful he had been, Garrett could no longer regard Zora as his future daughter-in-law, knowing her young age.

Even that reckless punk wouldn’t be that shameless.

Meanwhile, Leighton had waited endlessly for Zora’s reply. Glancing at the piles of documents on his desk, he stood up and began sorting them out.
“Mr. Pierce, the development team is ready for the scheduled meeting in ten minutes.”
His assistant knocked on the door and walked in holding stacks of files.
“Postpone the meeting until tomorrow. Pack all these documents up. I’ll take them home to go through.”
Leighton instructed casually, picking up his phone once more, only to find no new messages.
Worry crept steadily into his heart, fearing something bad had happened to Zora.
Grabbing his car keys, he strode straight out of his office and quickly phoned the security staff at the residential estate.
“Zora, these snacks kids love nowadays are truly delicious. I’ve lived this long and never tasted anything this good, right, Walter?”
“You’re absolutely right, sir. We’ve missed out on so many tasty treats all these years. This spicy strip is savory, fiery, and slightly sweet. Do give it a try.”
“Let me try!”
“Sirs, try these tomato-flavored potato chips too. They taste amazing.”
“You have no idea how adorable that punk was as a kid. Everyone in the neighborhood doted on him back then. He was such a pretty child that his mother once dressed him up in a lovely princess dress and took him for a stroll. Everyone mistook him for our lost little daughter.”
Garrett was rambling on about Leighton’s childhood stories when the front door suddenly opened.
“I still keep old photos of him from back then. You can barely tell his gender just by looking at them; he looked so cute. Come over to my place sometime, I’ll show you all those pictures.”
“Okay, I’d love that.”
Hearing the cheerful laughter inside, Leighton almost thought he had walked into the wrong house.

He paused at the doorway, stepping back slightly to check the house number.
Watching his father spill all his most embarrassing childhood stories one after another, Leighton’s face darkened rapidly.
“Am I interrupting your pleasant chat?” His lazy voice drifted into the room.
The joyful atmosphere in the living room vanished in an instant. The cheerful look on Garrett’s face froze completely.
“Leighton, you’re back.”
Zora turned her head the moment she heard his voice.
The man stood leaning against the wall with one hand in his pocket. His well-tailored black suit had one button undone, and his necktie hung loosely. He stared at them lazily with a casual demeanor.
Relieved to see Zora safe and sound, Leighton let out a quiet breath he had been holding.
Garrett instantly pulled himself together and put on a serious expression.
Yet Zora could clearly sense his awkwardness, as if he felt uneasy facing his own son.
“You finally remember to come home. Leaving such a young girl here alone, aren’t you afraid she might get taken away?” Garrett let out a cold huff.
“I knew you’d keep a close eye on her for me,” Leighton replied casually.
He slipped on indoor slippers, unbuttoned his suit jacket, and draped it over his arm, wandering slowly into the living room.
“Hmph. Always so reckless, never serious.” Garrett frowned, feeling helpless at his son’s laid- back attitude.
After stepping into the living room, Leighton glanced around the room. Opened bags of potato chips and various snacks were scattered across the table, with two packs placed right in front of the two old men.
