Chapter 205 She Was on Her Period
Zora suddenly remembered his long-term insomnia issue.

If heavy drinking still failed to lull him to sleep, his sleeping trouble was truly tough to deal with.
A simple head massage was never enough to put him to rest. What Zora did was press specific soothing nerve points to trigger drowsiness. Yet this method would harm his health if used too often.
“You didn’t say goodnight to me.”
Leighton blinked softly, staring at her with earnest expectation in his eyes.
“Goodnight then.” Zora felt amused at his petty insistence.
Zora went back to her room feeling wiped out. She flopped onto the bed, pulled the quilt over her head, and fell fast asleep right away.
They had spent over half an hour messing around, and it was already past three in the middle of the night. Exhaustion overwhelmed her instantly, and she sank into a deep slumber without delay.
When she woke up, dawn had broken fully. Soft sunlight filtered through the cream-colored curtains and filled the whole room.

A dull bloating ache spread across her lower abdomen, a familiar discomfort she knew all too well. She scrambled out of bed and hurried straight to the bathroom.
After putting on pads, she came out, sniffed, realizing she had caught a chill from staying up late in the cold wind last night.
She could not help worrying about Leighton. She wondered if he had caught a cold too. He had stayed out in the breeze for quite a while after drinking so much alcohol, making him far more likely to fall ill than she.
Too restless to fall back asleep and still bothered by her stomach ache, she craved something warm to drink and stepped out of her room.
Bright daylight flooded the whole house. Her gaze swept across the living room and landed on a seated figure.
Dressed in plain gray casual wear, Leighton sat upright with a notebook resting on his knees. He carried an elegant and cold aura, with sharp brows and well-defined facial features, wrapped in an air of quiet detachment.

“Zora.”
Fully awake now, he set down his notebook the moment he spotted her rushing out and walked straight toward her.
“Did you catch a cold last night?”
Zora reached out to hold his hand and looked up at him anxiously.
“I’m perfectly fine. Are you feeling unwell? I can call a family doctor right away.”
Her sincere concern softened his heart instantly.
All the fragile vulnerability he had shown the night before was gone without a trace. He was once again the poised, aloof man everyone knew.
Seeing his calm demeanor, Zora guessed he had no memory of what had happened last night and finally felt relieved.
“Thank goodness you didn’t get sick.”
She lightly felt his pulse to check his physical condition before slowly letting go of his wrist.
The fleeting touch felt nothing like his tight, clinging embrace from the previous night, leaving a faint sense of loneliness lingering in her heart.
“Did you catch a cold? Shall I send for the doctor?”
He knew she was never one to fuss over nothing. Her sudden concern meant she must have noticed something wrong, and he feared it was she who had fallen ill instead.
Warm worry clouded his gentle eyes.
“I’m totally fine. And you forgot, I’m a doctor myself.”
Zora had a slight stuffy nose, which was nothing serious, and she could mix up some medicine later.
Still, the persistent lower abdominal pain made her look rather pale and weak.
“You look pale. What exactly hurts you?”
Leighton lowered his eyes to glance at her pale lips, unable to hide his lingering worry.
“It’s nothing serious… just a slight stomach ache.”
Right now, Leighton felt like he’d slipped back into that stubborn version of himself from last

The second she said it, combined with her evasive look, Leighton understood immediately.
She was on her period.
His ears warmed.
Before he could say anything more, Zora changed the subject hastily.
“Where’s Jensen?”
She had important things to tell him and wondered if he had already left.
“He left for his workplace early this morning. How about having chicken noodle soup for breakfast? I made it myself.”
It was already well past ten o’clock, and Jensen had already headed to his office early.
Zora had no choice but to wait for another chance to talk to him later.
“Sounds nice.” All she wanted was something warm to soothe her discomfort at the moment.
“Wait here a moment, I’ll go get it ready right now.”
Leighton turned toward the kitchen immediately, thinking warm, comforting home-cooked food would ease her physical discomfort greatly.
Zora headed back to her bedroom, intending to message Jensen, She did not want to disturb him late last night when he was already worn out.
She picked up her fully charged phone, opened their chat on WhatsApp, detailed everything she had found, attached the photos she took, and noted down the exact time and place of her discovery.
She was fully confident that Jensen could sort this matter out smoothly with his ability.
That woman yesterday looked a lot like the figure she’d seen at the hotel last time.
There was no reply yet, which meant he was still swamped with work.
Just as Zora was about to walk out of the room, someone knocked on her door.
She opened it and found Leighton standing outside, holding a cup of warm spiced hot cocoa in his hand.
“Drink this first to warm you up and ease the discomfort. The chicken noodle soup will be ready in no time.”
