The two girls had just finished giving their official statements, and the officers struck casual chats with them afterward.

Higher-ups had already told everyone to treat these two young ladies with extra care.

Medics checked on all the unconscious troublemakers and confirmed they were unharmed, merely knocked out temporarily. The only one who suffered serious injuries was Evan, his face battered and covered in painful rashes.

Since multiple witnesses called the police about the massive group fight, everyone involved had to be brought in for questioning.

“It’s nothing serious at all. I could’ve taken all of them down alone if I didn’t have to protect my sister. We really owe it to how quick-witted she is,” Hallie grinned proudly.

She thought Zora was incredibly smart. One toss of that fine powder and the tough guys dropped to the ground one after another without exception.

“It’s just some mild sleeping powder. Do you want some? It can keep bad guys away.”

Zora blinked her bright, pretty eyes and looked straight at the female police officer beside her.

The officer let out a soft laugh. “I’m good, honey, I can defend myself just fine. But you’re such a lovely young lady, it’s totally sensible to carry something to stay safe.”

The officer’s heart melted instantly, looking at Zora’s doll-like, cute face. She was truly glad the girl had thought fast; otherwise, both of them would have gotten hurt badly.

The powder was far more effective than anyone expected, and none of the troublemakers had woken up yet.

Hallie smoothed out her messy clothes and rolled her sore shoulders gently.

“They kicked Hallie in the shoulder and even tried to hit her in the face!” Zora spoke up right away to report what had happened.

“I see. Please have a seat outside for a moment. I’ll sort out the formalities first, and my boss will be here any minute.”

Tristan’s expression turned icy cold the second he heard what they’d endured.

“Go sit over there first, Zora. I need a quick word with Tristan.”

Hallie still seethed with anger over the insults Evan had hurled earlier.

She would have given him another beating if he hadn’t already passed out cold.

“Okay.” Zora nodded obediently and walked away to wait.

Hallie pulled Tristan aside to talk privately. Zora could clearly see Tristan’s face darken with rage instantly.

“Mr. Leighton Pierce, Mr. Kian Marlow… I never expected you two to come here in person.”

Chief Theo Carter rushed over nervously after getting the call. Who would’ve thought responding to a report would end with two young ladies being brought back here?

“Where are the two girls?”

Leighton had been stuck working overtime at the company when he suddenly got the news that Hallie and Zora had been taken to the police station.

He’d immediately sent Tristan ahead to handle things first.

“How are they doing?” Kian asked anxiously, clutching a medical kit in his hand.

He had run into Leighton at a traffic light on his way off work. As soon as he heard the girls were in trouble, he rushed straight over without a second thought.

Theo wiped the cold sweat off his forehead as he explained the whole incident.

Witnesses clearly stated the two young women were being bullied, so the police already knew they were the innocent victims and were only going through standard questioning procedures.

All those burly men were still lying unconscious all over the place, covered in bruises and scrapes. It was quite embarrassing that a crowd of grown men couldn’t even overpower two teenage girls.

Everyone was secretly relieved they hadn’t succeeded. If anything serious had happened to either young lady, it would surely stir up huge unrest all across Seacrest. Now that Hallie had gotten injured, Leighton would definitely never let this matter rest easily.

Everyone thought Evan was nothing but a reckless fool for causing such huge chaos right after returning from overseas.

Leighton’s face turned grim the second he learned Hallie had taken a punch. Yet his tense jaw softened slightly upon hearing Zora had taken charge and subdued the whole crowd effortlessly.

He glanced toward the lounge area and spotted Zora sitting safely there, fretting over Hallie’s injury with all her attention focused on her friend, completely unaware of their arrival.

After staring for a moment to confirm she was safe and unharmed, he finally looked away.

“I’m going over to check on them first.” Kian’s gentle features turned sharp with worry the instant he heard Hallie was hurt.

“Go ahead.” Leighton gave a quiet reply.

“Take Mr. Marlow over to them.” Theo quickly arranged for someone to lead Kian to them.

“Boss, all matters here have been fully settled.”
