The Real Heiress's New Family Adored By All novel Chapter 283

Chapter 283 Her Little Study Secret

Clark would not have pressed the matter if Zora’s scores had been just average across all subjects. The thing was, she scored really high in Literature and Foreign Language.

Her physics and chemistry teachers even went to ask the literature and foreign language teachers for teaching tips. Meanwhile, her history, social studies and biology teachers stayed late after school to sort out key notes for Zora.

They still believed they could help her improve. As long as they put in the work, Zora could get better grades in these classes.

Clark was also looking over Zora’s test paper.

Sixty-seven points. Maya had helped her guess some answers before the exam, and two of those guesses turned out correct. She got four multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions correct. She missed all the rest.

Clark started to wonder if there was something wrong with his own teaching methods.

“You’re back. Let’s get ready for dinner.”

Leighton saw her figure reflected on the glass door. He turned around to look at her.

“Did Mr. Wyatt say anything?” Zora watched his face closely.

“Not much. He just told me to keep an eye on your studies and ask what plans you have for the future.”

Leighton held back a smile as he noticed how cautious she was..

“Go wash your hands and eat.”

Zora sat down, and Leighton took the seat right next to her. He no longer sat across from her these days.

There were several home-style dishes on the table as usual. Herb-roasted chicken, buttered green beans, cheesy scalloped potatoes, and warm vegetable chowder.

Zora picked up a piece of herb-roasted chicken first. She had been craving this dish the night before.

“Eat some vegetables too. Don’t just stick to meat.”

Leighton put some greens onto her plate.

“This tasty meat should not sit next to these green veggies.”

Zora moved her plate away and stared at him with a look of dislike.

She didn’t mind other vegetables much, but she really hated green leafy greens. Even when Leighton cooked them, she could not stand the taste.

“I’ll cook two meat dishes for you tomorrow.”

Leighton held up his fork and moved a piece of greens toward her mouth. She did not want the greens anywhere near her favorite pork.

“Really?”

Zora sniffed the greens. They still smelled unpleasant. But the thought of two meat dishes the next day made her feel willing to give it a try.

She took a bite. She barely chewed before swallowing it down.

Then she quickly stuffed another piece of chicken into her mouth. The spicy flavor filled her mouth, and she finally felt better.

“Alright. You have to eat at least three pieces,” Leighton said.

She truly disliked green vegetables. If no one reminded her, she would not touch them at all. When rules required her to only eat food right in front of her, she would eat plain bread instead of greens.

But the doctor said she needed to eat more vegetables. Leighton, always tried different ways to get her to eat them.

“You tricked me! You never said I had to eat three pieces.”

Zora pouted at him. Her pretty eyes looked fierce, just like a tiny angry hedgehog.

“I never said you only had to eat one piece either.” Leighton fought back his smile and ate his food slowly.

“You still did not say three pieces,” Zora argued.

“I will cook fish tomorrow.”

“I want grilled fish,” Zora answered right away.

“Three pieces of greens.”

“Deal.”

Zora frowned and ate two more pieces of greens.

They only had dinner together every night. At noon, Zora usually ate at school or went out for meals with Hallie and their friends.

On weekends, if she stayed home, Leighton would have meals sent over to her.

“What college do you want to go to later?”

Leighton put some chicken on her plate.

“My grades are not good enough to get into any nice college anyway.” A big smile spread across Zora’s face as she ate the meat.

She never worried too much about her scores. If college did not work out, she could go back to Maplewood and grow herbs. She could treat patients when people came, and tend her herbs when it was quiet.

She would wait for her mentor to come back and ask what she should do next.

“Heard you want to go to Mevoria? Why do you want to head there?”

Leighton had heard Hallie talk about this to Elara at home.

“I just want to travel and see new places.”

Zora paused for a second while chewing, then acted normal again.

She could not tell him she suspected her mentor was in Mevoria,

He would never ask her out of the blue whether she’d go to Mevoria. He had disappeared without a trace, and Zora had no clues about where he was. That was why she wanted to go to Mevoria and look for him.

“Eat more too.” Zora served him some food.

“You cook so well. Please eat more. You look like you’ve lost some weight.

“You work hard every day. Take good care of yourself.

“I’m going out to hang out tomorrow, so I won’t come to your office with you.

“Your medicine pouch needs new herbs. I’m done eating. I’ll head back to my room and mix a new batch for you.”

She talked nonstop, leaving Leighton no chance to ask more questions. Then she turned and ran out quickly.
