Chapter 291 The Hale Manor
No normal person liked making herbal drinks for themselves. Zora certainly did not.
“Come on, hurry up. I’ll make you something tasty. Leighton wore a soft smile.

Zora looked into his bright, charming eyes. Before she knew it, she went to get a portion of herbal ingredients for herself too.
The second she realized what she had done, Leighton had already dumped all the ingredients into the blender and started it up.
Zora fell silent.
“That’s not fair. You totally used your charm to trick me.”
She was not allowed into the kitchen, so she just stood by the door and stared blankly at Leighton inside.
She had heard of the ‘beauty trap’ from old stories, and now she finally knew exactly what it meant. Leighton had such a handsome face, and his eyes looked warm and caring no matter who he was looking at. It was so easy to get distracted and do whatever he said.
“Thanks for saying I look nice.” Leighton let out a light laugh, ignoring her complaint.
Zora frowned and stuffed two grapes into her mouth at once.
He was getting more and more cheeky. He used to tell her not to call him handsome, but now he admitted it himself.
“Want a taste?”
Leighton walked over. He held a plate in one hand and a fork in the other. A piece of fried chicken rested on the fork.
The fried chicken was coated in thick sauce, still piping hot and incredibly appetizing.
Zora opened her mouth without a second thought.
Leighton blew on it to cool it down before feeding it to her. She chewed slowly, and her eyes lit up right away.
“Is it good?” Leighton asked.
“So good.” Zora nodded.
She had forgotten that she was just arguing with him. One bite of fried chicken was all it took to win her over.

It was true that winning someone’s stomach was the best way to win their heart, and Zora was the perfect example of that.
“You’re an amazing cook. What a shame others can’t enjoy your food.” Zora sighed in admiration. His cooking skills were truly top-notch.
“Aren’t I already your personal cook?” Leighton smiled. “I still remember you said you’d work hard to support me someday. I’m ready to take it easy now. I’m counting on you.”
When he talked about her supporting him, Zora thought about how much money that would take. He was like a money pit. No ordinary person could ever afford to keep him.
“Come on, you can’t give up like this. You’re still young and should keep working hard!”
The morning sun rose, pouring warm golden light all over the bed.
A small figure wiggled under the covers. Soon, a head with messy hair poked out.
Zora rested her cheek on the pillow and stared out the window, lost in thought. She always took a little time to wake up in the morning. It was nice to have a holiday for once, with no need to rush off to school.
After gathering her senses, she got up and washed up. Today she planned to check out the house her mentor had given her-the Hale Manor.
She had been too busy lately, but the long holiday finally gave her time to go look around properly.
When she walked out of her room, Leighton had already left for work. A warm food box sat on the round table, left by his people for her breakfast.
She picked up a note next to it. The handwriting was neat and strong. It read, “Eat your breakfast before you go. Call me if anything comes up.”
It was around nine o’clock.
Zora opened the food box and sat down to eat slowly. The food was made by a skilled chef and tasted wonderful.
Once she finished eating, she put all the dishes into the dishwasher. Then she slung her bag over her shoulder and headed out.
Leighton’s health was getting better little by little. In about a month, he would fully recover, Zora thought it was time for her to find a new place to stay. She didn’t want to keep staying at his home and bothering him.
She had already found out where the Hale Manor was. She walked out of the neighborhood

and hailed a taxi straight to the estate.

The Hale Manor stood halfway up a mountain, with beautiful surroundings. From a distance, Zora saw a grand manor towering over the land.
Cars were not allowed to drive any further up the road, so she paid the driver and got out.
The huge estate took up nearly half the mountainside.
Zora walked up to the gate guards and explained why she was there. One guard called the manor’s head housekeeper.
When the guard saw Zora and the key she pulled out, he knew who she was right away. “Please wait a moment,” he said respectfully.
Zora didn’t have to wait long. A sleek, quiet Rolls-Royce Phantom drove out and stopped in front of her.
A man in his fifties stepped out from the passenger seat. He was the head housekeeper, George.
His eyes lit up with excitement the second he laid eyes on Zora.
“Miss, you’re finally here. We’ve been waiting for you all this time. We thought you’d never come back to us.”
