Chapter 337 Maya’s True Beauty
“Okay.”
Maya sat down next to Zora and leaned in to look at her notebook.

Zora held her coffee and waited. A soft, fresh lime scent floated off Maya and filled the air.
Zora glanced over at the girl leaning close beside her and noticed something new.
Maya wasn’t wearing her black glasses today.
Her beautiful, delicate face was fully visible for once.
Her skin was pale and smooth, since she rarely stayed out in the sun. She had a dainty nose, gentle eyes, and soft pink lips.
She looked like a simple, pretty porcelain doll-quiet, calm, and elegant.
She had this natural, soft bookish vibe all around her.
Her looks weren’t bold or flashy, but she felt so warm and trustworthy.
People just wanted to lean on her. Sitting next to her felt super comforting, like she’d always be understanding and nice.
If people had to label her style, Maya was definitely the soft, gentle type. Clean, calm, and easy to like.
“Maya! You took off your glasses!”
Zora blurted it out before she could think.
“Hmm?”
Į
Maya looked up at her. Her eyes crinkled into a soft smile, and Zora froze for a moment.
She was leaning sideways to see the notebook, so she sat a little lower than Zora.
As she tilted her head up, a few loose strands of hair fell across her cheek.
Seeing her from this angle, Zora was totally stunned.
“Maya, you’re so beautiful.”
The compliment just came out naturally.
Zora had never seen Maya look like this before.

She was so soft and pretty.
Zora instantly wanted to spoil her and take care of her like a little sister.
How had Maya hidden such a pretty face behind those plain glasses?
Those big, boring black frames had totally covered up her beauty!
Zora made up her mind right away. She was gonna get Maya cuter, nicer glasses.
No more plain frames hiding how gorgeous she was.
Looking at Maya’s face today made Zora really want to pamper her.
She had to dress her up and let everyone see how pretty she was.
“Thank you, sweet girl.”
Maya smiled softly. Her light brown eyes sparkled, and her voice was warm and gentle.
“Maya, I wish I could have a daughter just like you someday.”
Zora propped her head up with one hand, staring at Maya sincerely.
But she knew it was impossible. She couldn’t have kids of her own.
She could only admire her pretty friend to make up for it.
Maya’s smile froze for a quick second.
“Zora, let’s get back to studying.”
Maya quickly picked up her pen.
Better focus on homework.
“Alright!”
Zora put down her coffee at once and got serious.
Study! She was gonna master all these problems so they wouldn’t stress her out at night.
“This is so hard, Maya. Do you think I’m stupid? You’ve explained it so many times already.”
But her hopes were way higher than her skills.
Fifteen minutes later, Zora felt defeated. She picked up an egg tart and took a bite.

Her science foundation was really bad.
She hadn’t studied properly for years, and all that missed knowledge was hard to catch up on.
Zora wasn’t a genius. She couldn’t learn things perfectly after just one look.
She had to repeat, memorize, and practice over and over again.
There was no way she could catch up to people who’d studied for ten years in just a couple months.
“You’re not stupid,” Maya said gently.
She reached out and ruffled Zora’s hair softly to cheer her up.
“We’re just taking it slow. Your foundation’s a little weak, that’s all.
“Don’t stress too much. You’re already doing really well.”
Zora ate two more egg tarts and finished her coffee.
Once she’d recharged, she was full of motivation again.
“Okay, I’m ready! Let’s keep going!”
They spent the whole afternoon studying until Zora finally finished all her practice questions.
Maya started cleaning up the books on the desk.
She noticed Zora glancing at her over and over, looking hesitant.
“What’s up? Do you have something to tell me?” Maya asked softly with a smile.
Zora took a deep breath.
“Maya… there’s something I need to tell you.”
“You can tell me anything, no matter what it is,” Maya said.
“You never have to hold back around me, okay?”
She sat back down next to Zora, knowing this was something important,
Zora turned toward her and gathered all her courage.
“Maya… I think I found a lead on your dad.”

Zora told her everything, including the guesses she and Leighton had made.
Then she watched Maya carefully, who hadn’t said a word since she’d started talking.
“Do you want to meet him? I can ask Leighton to set it up for you.”
