Chapter 38-The-Procious Gem Gift

stepped forward, trying to insert herself.

“Jolie, can you not understand plain words? Do I need to find you a doctor?”

Farushed

Jensen stepped aside coldly as she approached, his handsome, chiseled face etched with clear irritation.

“Besides, this style is crafted specifically for young women. Do you really think Aunt Wendy would like it? She’s never cared for pink tones-we all know that deep down. You know perfectly well whether this is for her or for yourself.

“Push this any further, Jolie, and you’ll only end up embarrassing yourself.”

Jensen showed her absolutely no mercy.

The smile on Jolie’s face froze completely. Her cheeks burned with humiliation, and she seethed with the urge to lash out at him.

No one had ever humiliated her so ruthlessly in public before.

Standing there under everyone’s gaze, she felt as exposed and ashamed as if she’d been stripped bare for all to see.

Looking at Jensen, she suddenly felt as if she didn’t even need the Marlows anymore.

Hatred bubbled up inside her toward the man who’d humiliated her so thoroughly.

But the next second, a chill ran down her spine as she locked eyes with Zora’s icy, piercing stare.

Jolie had never seen such a cold look on Zora’s face before.

It sent a clear warning-if she dared harm Jensen in any way, Zora would make her pay a terrible price.

A cold dread settled over Jolie’s heart, and the violent resentment flaring inside her vanished in an instant

How could she even think such reckless thoughts?

Jensen was the rightful heir of the Marlow family. If the Marlow name fell, the Knox family would surely be dragged down with them. Seacrest was filled with old-money elite clans-the Piercy stood at the top, with the Marlows close behind.

The Knox family had only grown wealthy after Wayne married Wendy, lacking the deep heritage of the

Marlows.

Yale had only just taken over the family business and was nowhere near Jensen’s standing or influence

If Jensen fell from grace, every wealthy family in the city would swoop in to take advantage of the Knoxes.

It would be a ruinous loss, and Jolie had no desire to give up her lavish, privileged life.

She shuddered inwardly, casting aside her bitter, vengeful thoughts at once.

When she looked back at Zora again, the girl had returned to her usual dull, listless self.

That sharp, tey glare felt like nothing more than a figment of her imagination.

Jolie frowned, convincing herself she’d misread the moment.

Zora had always been this timid and dim-witted ever since she was brought back. If she truly had any hidden edge, she never would have fallen for Jolie’s schemes time and again, nor been driven out of the Knox Villa.

It must have been her eyes playing tricks, Jolie told herself.

“Please wrap this up for us,” Jensen said to the clerk, withdrawing his gaze.

“Right away, Mr. Marlow. Just one moment.” The clerk began carefully packaging the jewelry.

Anton stood frozen to the side, mulling over Jensen’s words as his gaze fell on Jolie. Everyone in the family knew Wendy had never liked pink shades, yet Jolie had been fixated on this very set all along.

Too captivated by the piece to look away, Jolie kept her eyes fixed on the clerk wrapping the box, her expression as if she’d lost something infinitely precious.

Watching her from the sidelines, Anton was overcome with an inexplicable sense of unease.
