Chapter 108 Rude Person
No. That didn’t make sense.
Brie quickly pushed the thought away.
Danica had said Cassia had no friends at school. Not a single one.
Rosalie probably never talks to Cassia. Well, maybe during roll call, but that’s it.
Rosalie must be heading to the buffet. That had to be it. Cassia was eating there too.
At least that was what Brie thought.

Cassia sat quietly at the table, still eating when Rosalie stopped beside her. Rosalie smiled and pulled out the chair next to her.
“Cassia, you finally came down. I’ve been waiting for you all night,” Rosalie said with a laugh, taking her seat. “If you didn’t show up soon, I was about to leave.”
Brie froze. Rosalie had come to her birthday party … for Cassia?
Before she could even react, another girl came running over. It was Sacha, Cassia’s good friend.
“Cassia!” Sacha said, laughing as she joined them. “When I got Danica’s invitation, I thought you might come too, so I came hoping to see you.”
The two girls teased Cassia affectionately, chatting and smiling, while Cassia looked stunned, almost lost.
Wait. This wasn’t right. They were supposed to be here for her–Brie.
The scene before her cut through her like a shard of ice.
Cassia blinked, surprise flickering in her eyes. She hadn’t expected anyone to think of her tonight.
Brie was supposed to be the star of the show.
“Cassia? Why are you just sitting there?” Rosalie teased playfully. “You’re not mad that I came late, are you?”
“No.” Cassia smiled, her tone soft but sincere. “Thank you both for thinking about me.”

Rosalie and Sacha grinned. Seeing the joy hidden behind Cassia’s calm face made her seem warmer, more real.
A bit of sauce stained the corner of her mouth, which somehow made her look charming in an unguarded way.
Cassia picked up the knife, cut a slice of cake, and handed it to Rosalic.
“Here. Have some cake.”
Rosalie laughed brightly. “I’ll take that, thanks!”
“Thanks, Cassia!” Sacha added, smiling wide.
Rosalie had just raised her fork when the sharp click of heels broke through the soft music. Danica stormed toward the table, her face red with fury. Without hesitation, she swung her arm and smacked the slice Cassia had just cut for Sacha straight onto the floor.
“Cassia, you’ve got some nerve! This is Brie’s birthday, not yours!” she shouted, her voice cutting through the chatter. “That cake belongs to Brie! Only she gets to cut it or share it. Who do you think you are, touching it like that?”
The slice hit the marble floor with a wet slap, frosting splattering across the tiles like spilled paint.
Every head in the room turned.
Cassia didn’t flinch. She turned her head slowly, meeting the stares with an icy calm. The guests‘ eyes glimmered with judgment. Victoria’s painted smile faltered. Vance’s face had gone pale, tight with embarrassment.
Cassia’s gaze was cold, her expression as smooth as glass.
Then she reached for the knife again. She cut another piece of cake with deliberate precision.
“Cassia, how dare-”
Danica’s voice broke off when Cassia looked up. Her eyes were sharp as glass, her stare freezin Danica in place.
“It’s not my cake,” Cassia said quietly, “but it’s not yours either. If it only belongs to Brie, then why did you already take a piece?”
She pointed at the empty space on the cake, her tone calm and cutting.

“I- I cut it because I’m Brie’s sister. I’m part of the family,” Danica stammered, her voice trembling.
Cassia tilted her head slightly, her tone cold. “And I’m not?”
The words sliced through the air like a whip. The room went silent. The crowd’s whispers died.
So this was the so–called troublemaker Danica had been gossiping about.
And she was the eldest daughter of the Wood family.
A ripple of realization spread through the guests. Some even looked impressed. For all her reputation, Cassia carried herself with an aura that demanded attention. She looked like someone born to lead, not follow.
Brie was adopted. Danica was the younger one. Cassia was the oldest–the rightful heir to the Wood name.
If Danica could touch Brie’s cake, then Cassia had every right to do the same.
Danica’s public outburst had made a mockery of their family. Of the heiress.
Brie’s face flushed crimson. She lowered her head, wishing she could disappear.
But Danica still didn’t seem to understand what she’d done.
“I-” She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
Cassia’s presence made her shrink back like a child caught lying.
Vance stepped forward quickly, trying to control the damage. His jaw clenched, his expression dark.
He looked at Danica, his eyes full of anger and regret. He had spoiled her too much, and now she was humiliating him in front of the city’s elite.
He forced a tight smile and spoke through his teeth.
“Alright, enough. Brie is my daughter, and so is Cassia. Brie’s birthday is for all three of you to celebrate together. You’re sisters. You share things. Don’t turn this into a scene.”
The cake didn’t matter. What mattered were the eyes on him–the investors, the socialites, the people who whispered behind champagne glasses. If this story spread to the wrong ears, his company could lose its footing overnight.
